Hi all!

This question got me thinking about what kind of muscles I want...

When doing Max OT you are promoting muscle growth - but what about muscular endurance? It's all good and well to have plenty of mass - but if you have no endurance - what good is it gonna do for you?

My question is this -> is Max OT gonna wreck my plans for bigger muscles WITH a reasonable capability for endurance?

Should I stay with pyramids instead?

Thanks for reading!

You should ask yourself whether or not you actually need the endurance. If you're involved in sports that require it then look into it. If you just want to look good naked like most of us you don't need it.

Well - I do need it. ;)

I've found a couple of answers to this conundrum - one of which I found in the US Navy SEAL Physical Fitness Guide... :tucool:

Basicly it states that you need to periodize (spelling?) your strength training into #1. gaining muscle and #2. converting some of the strength in those muscles into what is called "endurance strength".

This involves hi-rep/moderate-weight training for a month or two after the initial bulking phase.

I'm still researching this, though.

Read this article and second part on periodization. http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/keats2.htm

It suggests that there are better ways to periodize than just focusing on one goal for one mesocycle(blocks of training which usually lasts 2-4 months) and then switching to another goal for the next mesocycle.
