View Full Version : 1300 calorie diet

For the past week i have started to keep my calories at around 1300- 1400. I have been feeling fine, a little hungry but overall satisfied. That was until last night. I got back from the gym and felt dizzy and weak. I drank a lot of water and ate some tuna. The dizziness was still there this morning so i upped my calories today. (i am at about 1400 w/out dinner) Does this mean 1300 is to low for me? I was doing well the first week and am finally starting to show results. (i have been working out for about 2 1/2 months straight) please help! also, i noticed i eat a lot more carbs than protein. can that be what caused this? any suggestions would help!

here is what a typical day looks like.

i drink a lot of water all day long.

breakfast: bowl of cereal
snack:banana or apple
lunch:turkey sandwich and a veggie. ususally carrots.
snack: a few slices of turkey
dinner: usually chicken breast with some kind of noodles. or chicken soup with rice.

i also drink diet soda, but try to keep it at 1 a day.

i am 5'0 started at 145, now weigh 139.

I doubt that's 1300 calories... how are you calculating your calories?? also... you don't have any protien in your first two meals... you should be getting a lean protien source in all of your meals. check out the nutrition sticky at the top of the fat loss section to see how you should be eating. hope this helps some.

I agree, that looks closer to something like 800 calories, but it is also possible that the level is too low if you really are at 1300. I guess a good indicator is how fast you are losing weight (no faster than 2 lbs a week MAXIMUM, 1 lbs a week is a better target) and how you feel. And clearly, you don't feel quite right...

i have been using fitday.com to caculate my calories. i am pretty sure i need i need more protein. i think i will start eating egg whites scrambled with veggies in the morning and see if that helps. what do you think?
