Stopped by for some directions please! I am 38 , about 5ft10 weight 207, have a medium framed build. Iwas in excellent shape about 2yrs ago around 186lbs, worked out every day. Some how lost motivation and having a hard time getting on track again, I am no stranger to working out. The dieting part throws me way off to many opinions and options. I found this web sight became very interested. Any help on dieting advice would be greatly appreciated, I just want to take alot of the guess work out.

There's a lot of stuff already on this site and other sites (look at John's Transformation page) like bodybuilding.com.
All I can tell you is, if you want to cut, eat less than you burn and you will lose weight. 10-12 times your body weight in pounds of calories with a balance of protein, carbs, and unsaturated fats (most people recommend around 40%,40%,20%) with moderate exercise and weight lifting will produce results. Do some more research to find what's best for you.

If you're having problems getting motivated, try this:
The first change that I made in my diet was to eat more fruits and vegetables. For the first while, I didn't deny myself anything, didn't cut back on any calories, just said "I can eat anything I want as long as I FIRST eat at least three servings each of fruit and vegetables." (you might prefer five) I was so stuffed after those fruits and vegetables I wasn't able to eat anything else!
I don't have cravings for junk food as often any more.
I don't count my calories, like most people here do. I find that if I listen to my body, it tells me what to eat.

The first, and so far only, change I made in my diet was to start eating clean foods. Very similar to guava except that I don't allow myself to eat anything except clean foods. Five months later, I've lost 50 lbs and my body fat has decreased from 30+% to 18%.
All the diet theories and calculations can be somewhat confusing. I decided to simply get started and tweak things along the way. It is really amazing how much food you can eat and still lose weight when you limit yourself to low fat meats, low glycemic index carbohydrates, and good fats.
Some people thrive on the details of calculating p/c/f ratios, measuring and logging food intake, etc. I don't. I simply eat 5 meals per day and try to insure that I get some protein, carbohydrates, and fat in each meal. I don't doubt that all the detailed calculations can produce better results but my results are a lot better than no results at all. When I finally reach that dreaded plateau, I'll take a good look at myself and then decide if I need to adjust my program. For me, it's one step at a time.
