What is 6 stones? In lbs or kilograms? Sean_Vienna Mon, July 18th, 2005, 06:59 PM Please don't be offended but 6 stone sounds incredibly skinny. I would advise you to go & build some muscle immediately for the sake of your health. What is your nutrition like? 6 stone = 84lbs jsbrook Mon, July 18th, 2005, 07:21 PM Please don't be offended but 6 stone sounds incredibly skinny. I would advise you to go & build some muscle immediately for the sake of your health. What is your nutrition like? 6 stone = 84lbs 84 lbs is shockingly skinny for your height. But it doesn't mean you're anorexic. Some people just have have lightning fast metabolisms. But you still would undoubtedly be healthier and look better with more mass. What is your diet like? And exercise (if any)? thirtysomething Mon, July 18th, 2005, 08:10 PM 84 lbs is shockingly skinny for your height. But it doesn't mean you're anorexic. Some people just have have lightning fast metabolisms. But you still would undoubtedly be healthier and look better with more mass. What is your diet like? And exercise (if any)? Have you seen a doctor and perhaps asked them? You may want to rule out any medical causes. It's hard to tell just from stats, but I agree that is very low weight. Although my mother was just under 5'10" at that age and weighed ~110 lbs, healthy but with a very slight frame, narrow shoulders and really no apparent muscle. She definitely was not anorexic and, according to my grandparents, ate like a starving horse ;) krosspyder Mon, July 18th, 2005, 11:58 PM WOW! :d_eek: JoeSchmo Tue, July 19th, 2005, 02:25 AM I'm am 24,5'8 and weigh 6 stones.Been called anorexic a few times. But the question is am I really that skinny? If this is a serious post, then yes, you are very very skinny. I am not a doctor by any means, but I'm not sure you can be much skinnier than that and still be alive. If you are at that weight voluntarily, then that signals a problem to me.....and if you are at that weight INVOLUNTARILY, that signals a problem to me. You are quite underweight.....and I'd suggest talking to a doctor about it. You should be a good 50 pounds heavier at your height. :gl: Karren Tue, July 19th, 2005, 08:29 AM Yes this is a serious post. jsbrook Tue, July 19th, 2005, 10:35 AM Yes this is a serious post. Can you post your diet and what exercise you do? We can help you! :tu: Sean_Vienna Tue, July 19th, 2005, 11:41 AM Karren, please post. I just talked to my girlfriend who's almost finished her medical studies & she's very concerned. Please re-check your weight & see a doctor immediately. Post your diet & maybe a little about your past (eating habits etc). jlforbess Tue, July 19th, 2005, 12:04 PM 5'8 and 84 pounds? Yes, that is extremely skinny. Way to skinny for your height no matter what your bone structure is. Do you try to put on weight and you just can't? Or is your weight intentional? Do you exercise? PeteBDawg Tue, July 19th, 2005, 12:42 PM You're not necessarily anorexic, but you're definitely sick, either with an eating disorder, parasites, or something worse. Get that weight up! I'd imagine this is pretty scary for you, but this'll be an easy problem to solve once you figure out what the problem is. You have to be honest with yourself, though, and that can be tough. But we're all pulling for you. Sean_Vienna Tue, July 19th, 2005, 03:10 PM Karren, why won't you post & answer any of our questions? Are you afraid to? I was online several hours ago & i saw you were on here also. You've responded once & it seems to me that you wrote out of frustration; is it because you think you have a problem too? Is it because you read the responses & they all but confirmed what you suspected? The people on the site are willing to help you but we can't if you don't post again. You may have some serious physical/mental health problems associated with your weight and, if so, they need to be addressed immediately. If you're honestly happy with the way you are then fine, don't post, but you must go and see a doctor and have a check-up ASAP; if you're not happy, & are willing to seek help, I know that there are many people on this board waiting to offer you just that. Think about it...better yet, just post!!! Karren Tue, July 19th, 2005, 05:30 PM Do you exercise?Yes Karren, Why won't you post & answer any of our questions? Is it because you think you have a problem too?I guess so. jsbrook Tue, July 19th, 2005, 05:48 PM Do you exercise?Yes Karren, Why won't you post & answer any of our questions? Is it because you think you have a problem too?I guess so. Please answer them. We'll do all we can to help you. We'll be gentle too, I promise. If someone's not, I'll go kick their ass. j/k. Seriously though, no judgement and no insults. Only good advice. Sean_Vienna Tue, July 19th, 2005, 06:08 PM Well then talk to us; is it a pschological problem? You mentioned that some people think your anorexic...honestly, are you? Karren Tue, July 19th, 2005, 06:12 PM You mentioned that some people think your anorexic...honestly, are you? No Sean_Vienna Tue, July 19th, 2005, 06:16 PM I'm glad to hear that. You responded earlier with "i guess so" to the question i posted; what do you think the problem could be? jlforbess Tue, July 19th, 2005, 06:17 PM You mentioned that some people think your anorexic...honestly, are you? No Do you really try to put on weight or do you think you are fine at the weight you are at? Can you post an example of your daily diet? Please be honest. No one is here to judge you, we all just want to help but you are only giving bits and peices of information so it is hard. ((((HUGS)))) thirtysomething Tue, July 19th, 2005, 06:56 PM Hey Karren, I know it's hard to talk about, but rest assured you're not under attack. People here really are nice and just trying to get enough info to offer helpful suggestions :) I guess what we don't know is why your weight is so low (i.e. are you eating enough? is it some illness? are you an exeptionally light frame and bone structure with some combination of the above?) so any specific info you can give would help to clarify that. Also, do you see a doctor annually? Has she or he commented on your weight and offered any thoughts? Do you feel that people are overreacting when they comment that you are "too thin" in real life? Hope none of those questions seem too invasive :D don_1987 Tue, July 19th, 2005, 11:32 PM I hope you don't take it too seriously when people commented you as being anorexic. Really, it's just some stupid comments people used to say (especially in a country where people used to see bigger people). I believe rather than having an eating disorder, you're just one of those few people who have a very fast metabolism (which is supposedly a good thing). You seem to know that you're having a problem, would you mind sharing them with us, I believe some of us can really help you. Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 10:45 AM Also, do you see a doctor annually? Hardly ever see a doctor. badgolfer Wed, July 20th, 2005, 11:09 AM Karren is very reserved. Too bad. Go see a doctor Karren and know that JSF and its members are here for all the support you need. michael2938 Wed, July 20th, 2005, 12:07 PM Karren is very reserved. Too bad. Go see a doctor Karren and know that JSF and its members are here for all the support you need. That, or she's just a troll. A person who is 5'8 and weights 84 lbs is probably 40-50 lbs underweight, and bordering on death. Her BMI is 12.8. According to this chart (and others) she is well beyond "Anorexic" Emaciated = UNDER 15 BMI Anorexic = Under 17.5 BMI Underweight = Under 19 BMI Normal = 19 - 24 BMI Overweight = 25 - 29 BMI So my bets on a troll. :) Unless "she" wants to provide more information. Mike badgolfer Wed, July 20th, 2005, 12:23 PM emaciated eh. didnt realize we were that low. hmmmm.... well if she is a troll she is not a very good one. Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 12:51 PM I'm not a troll.Somebody told me people were nice on here. Then again some are others aren't. michael2938 Wed, July 20th, 2005, 12:58 PM I'm not a troll.Somebody told me people were nice on here.I think not. Then give more information. Everybody here has been very supportive and willing to help if the numbers you gave are in fact true. It simply does not add up. Mike Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:00 PM A person who is 5'8 and weights 84 lbs is probably 40-50 lbs underweight, and bordering on death. I want to die anyway. jsbrook Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:01 PM Then give more information. Everybody here has been very supportive and willing to help if the numbers you gave are in fact true. It simply does not add up. Mike Asshole, she'll post if and when she feels comfortable. She knows (some of us) will try to help her if she does. Leave her alone. What's it to you? jsbrook Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:02 PM A person who is 5'8 and weights 84 lbs is probably 40-50 lbs underweight, and bordering on death. I want to die anyway. Oy...you're making it hard for me to defend you... Bluestreak Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:02 PM I'm not a troll.Somebody told me people were nice on here. Then again some are others aren't. 99% of us are nice; the other 1% gets tossed out on their ass if they're not. This is a tightly run ship - but we're skeptical, and rightly so given the information you've posted, about what we're gathering from your posts. I'm sure you can see where we're coming from on this issue. I'll have to agree with some of the previous posters that the numbers don't quite add up in your case. 85-lbs. and 5'6" puts you so far below your idea weight that it is scarcely believable. If you'd like to put any doubts we may have about your identity or statistics to rest, please post a pictures of yourself so we can guage visually what you look like. -R jsbrook Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:03 PM Sorry about that last post Mike. Mike's right about one thing, Karren. If you are legitimate and earnest, we can't help until you give us more info. I suggest we all leave this thread alone until that happens. bm1te Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:19 PM I'm not sure how to approach this since the thread starter isn't giving us much to work with but here goes: First, why did you come to this forum to ask that question? What answers or support were you looking for? The answer to your question is not something we can answer for you. It's not based on opinion. If you are indeed 5'8" and only 84lbs then you are underweight, skinny, emaciated, etc. There's nothing else to it. So secondly, you need to see a professional if you are concerned about your weight. However, since you have made it clear that you have a desire to die, you probably don't want to see one. So what it is you do want? Why did you come here to find it? This isn't a depression/suicide support forum. We are not doctors. We are not psychiatrists. We are a community of people sharing ideas, methods, experiences, and problems. We can share, but we cannot resolve. Only you can do that. ...the more you give us, the more we can give back. michael2938 Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:30 PM Sorry about that last post Mike. Mike's right about one thing, Karren. If you are legitimate and earnest, we can't help until you give us more info. I suggest we all leave this thread alone until that happens. I'm not sure what I did to be called an asshole; in no way did I intend to come off that way. I guess this is a sensitive topic for some people. I just wanted to throw out there the possibility of this person not being legitimate and more information was needed if she truely needs help. I tend to not trust people who's first post, on the day they sign up for membership, is some outrageous claim. (5'8 and 84lbs - Am I skinny?) But as others have said, if what she said is true, a Doctor is the best help she can get right now. Mike Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:38 PM Sorry jsb but I have a couple of things to say before I likely leave this thread: Karren, time for some tough love ( i apologise in advance for sounding like an @$$hole). If you're reading this, then you know you have a problem or else it's unlikely you would have returned to this site (or you are indeed getting off on worrying us); by responding previously, only to hide again, implies that you need to reach out to someone but are afraid. Why take a couple of steps closer to solving your problem, and then give up & hide? What's to fear? Is it that you think we'll judge you? Do you think we'll look down on you? Well I don't look down on or judge negatively anyone who can confront their problems head on and is strong enough to ask for help if they need it...i repect them. I will however judge you and your character by your actions in the next few minutes; if you post with some real information that enables us to help you, then you have my respect, & you have my support. There's a difference between being afraid, and being a coward, don’t be a coward. Why did you sign up here? Why did you start this thread in the first place? Think about those questions. There is one great thing about knowing you have a problem...you can try and find a way to solve it. You know (unless you’re f***ing with us) that you have a problem, so why not let us help you try and solve it? You must surely know that hoping it's just magically going to go way is wishful thinking at its worst. I ask again: Why did you sign up here? Why did you start this thread in the first place? More importantly, why are you wasting your own time & ours by simply responding with useless info: “I want to die anyway”?!? Bull$hit!! You wouldn’t be here if that were true. You’re either reaching out to us or f***ing with us; I don’t believe your f***ing with us. You are going about everything the wrong way though. Now, if you’d like some help, I suggest you actually show us respect, as well as yourself & post before people decide that you’re nothing but a troll & give up on you. Once again I apologize for sounding like a dick, but I believe it’s for your own benefit. Let us help you  Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:43 PM I tend to not trust people who's first post, on the day they sign up for membership, is some outrageous claim. (5'8 and 84lbs - Am I skinny?)You don't have to trust me but I know that what I'm saying is true. Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:47 PM Why did you start this thread in the first place? To get help. Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 01:49 PM And how are you going to get that exactly unless you give us something? Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:00 PM So what do you think your problem could be? Do you know what it is? michael2938 Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:01 PM You don't have to trust me but I know that what I'm saying is true. How can we help you if we don't know you are telling us the truth? What do you want help with? Mike jsbrook Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:06 PM Why did you start this thread in the first place? To get help. Nobody can help you unless you post your diet and exericse. Please do that. Otherwise, there's no point in the continuation of this post. Mike, I apologize. Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:20 PM Do you know what it is? No Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:27 PM Have you always been very underweight? Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:44 PM Okay Karen, you have 2 minutes to respond with something productive that we can give you advise on, or i'm one less person that's gonna be there for you right now. I don't always believe in the whole, do it when you're ready thing, because i think it's another excuse to hide behind for most people. You made the effort to sign up here and you posted, that means your ready to talk, you're just afraid i guess. However, that reason is not gonna cut it forever, if you want help, then post something productive (about your nutrition etc.) before myself, and soon enough, everyone else, leaves and ignores you and then you're right back where you started. We want to help, but you're insulting us; whether that's your intention or not, that's what you're doing. 2 minutes karren. bm1te Wed, July 20th, 2005, 02:54 PM Meh, she is an attention seeking troll. Contacting a moderator to have the thread deleted/locked. Sholezard Wed, July 20th, 2005, 03:02 PM I also agree...it seems like she is trying to get some attention and we are all falling prey to providing her with just that. I think it would be best to either close the thread or at least not have anyone respond until we get something legitimate out of her. I tried PM'ing her to help her out and to let her know that she can talk to a female if she feels like it but again, no response there. jsbrook Wed, July 20th, 2005, 03:09 PM I also agree...it seems like she is trying to get some attention and we are all falling prey to providing her with just that. I'm done with it unless diet and exercise is posted. I don't like being ineffectual, and there's no way I can help unless she posts diet and exercise. If she's not a troll and is indeed legitimate and just reticent to post, then I'm sorry. But that's nothing anyone on these forums can control, and there's nothing we can do. Meat, eggs etc? Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:06 PM Steve, maybe i'm an idiot but i like to give people the benefit of the doubt; you may be right & i'm wasting my time but i don't like the idea of leaving someone who may have a problem of this magnitue to have to deal with it on their own. Karren, if this is legit, then thanks for posting, continue to do so & i'll do my best to help but be warned, any more messing around & i'm gone. Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:12 PM I eat eggs don't eat much meat though. Sean_Vienna Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:21 PM Okay well you must find a way to eat more protein; proteins contains essential amino acids which your body needs. If you don't eat food containing these amino acids your body can only get them by breaking down your own muscles to get them. The less muscle you have the more health problems you will have. It's a lot more complicated then that but that's just a basic idea. Fish, lowfat/non-fat cheese & milk products are also excellent sources of protein. Do you eat any of these? wh0rume Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:23 PM never give people the benifit of the doubt on the internet. + she comes here claiming she's seeking help, yet provides almost 0 information. + when she DOES post, it's usually a 1-6 word response telling us nothing + she center-aligns everything. You sometimes don't eat lunch and sometimes don't eat supper and you have fruit for breakfast? You are most definitely eating under 1000 calories a day plus you are exercising? You should be eating WAY WAY more than that. My advise would be to see a doctor for you depression and then a nutritionalist to give you a good diet to put some weight back on you. Often people who are depressed know they are spiraling (sp?) out of control but are still too depressed to do anything about it (vicious cycle) You have to take that first step, Karren. With depression medicine, you will feel like a new person...a person who WANTS to take care of their body and eat. Please get help soon. wh0rume Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:38 PM but would a troll say "i'm not a troll" when confronted? and how would one prove they're not a troll if they truely werent? it's an interesting science really - kinda like the witch hunts of the old days. the only way for them to prove they werent a witch was to die drowning. (lose/lose situation) Karren Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:38 PM Thank you everybody who is helping or has helped! wh0rume Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:43 PM Thank you everybody who is helping or has helped! Thank you everybody who is helping or has helped! You're welcome, but here is how you prove you're not a troll and that you honestly want to help yourself: Read through these: http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=12811 http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=16232 One is about weight loss but obviously ignore that aspect but just read the info, it'll give you some idea of how you should eat. Read it, devise a plan for yourself & follow the guides; just increase the food amounts so that you are gaining weight, not losing it or staying where you are. Once you read the links, come back to us & post a plan for yourself and we will critique it for you. As far as exercising goes, you need to find a way to build some muscle as soon as possible; there will be info about this in the links but we can help you if you need it once you post a plan. Do this and prove how serious you are :tu: . John Stone Wed, July 20th, 2005, 07:17 PM  at this whole thread. I'd appreciate it if you guys would report posts that violate the rules instead of responding to them. This is an obvious troll. Name calling will not be tolerated. You know who you are.
