View Full Version : how to calculate lean body mass weight? Brad5150 Fri, July 15th, 2005, 07:21 PM in some ppls journals such as ABguy, it says his lean body mass is 134 or somethin like that..how do u figure that? how is it measured? j/w Sean_Vienna Fri, July 15th, 2005, 07:31 PM Write down your weight, write down your bodyfat%. Multiply your weight by your bodyfat%/100; this gives you the amount of fat you have. Take this figure away from your weight to give you your lean mass. example; weight = 200lbs bodyfat% = 25% Body fat(lbs) = weight(200lbs)*(bodyfat(25)/100) So our guy has 50lbs of fat. Lean mass = weight(200lbs) - bodyfat(50lbs) Our guy has 150lbs of lean mass. :tu: Dev Thu, July 21st, 2005, 12:45 PM Good post sean. Also keep in mind lean body mass does not equal muscle mass. Don't get me wrong, it is included in that number, but many people forget that number includes their skeleton, organs, water, food in your bowels etc. On average your amount of muscle is about 1/8 of your lean body mass. This is of course higher in body builders. txitalian Thu, July 21st, 2005, 01:04 PM If you hate math like me, here (http://alamofitness.com/katchcalc.swf) is a calculator that I've been working on. It's not complete, but it will tell you your lean mass Jason |
