I could swear that I have read in the forums that your BMR should be calculated using your lean body mass and I have also read that you should use your total body weight. Am I just misunderstanding or shouldnt you be using your total body weight? Maybe you just use the different numbers in different calculations??

What I am going off of now is that I weigh 196 lbs and I have been trying to keep my calories between 2000-2100, with the cardio and weights that I am doing, I am hoping that I have done it right and I am creating a calorie deficit so that I can shed some of this fat. Please tell me if I am not doing this right. All of this reading sometimes confuses the hell out of me.

The equation detailed in the below link is the one I use and has never served me wrong :tu:

Both ways exist. The one w/ LBM is probably more accurate, but you have to know your LBM, so the total body weight one is simpler.

370+(21.6 x LBM in kg)

I think that one is only for men.
