Is cardio in the morning *that* important?
I do it at night usually...this really fits into my schedule. I also do it on the empty stomach (I'm doing it when I'm almost due for my next meal)

I have heard that doing cardio in the morning on empty stomach makes you loose fat, but if its done later...its more for cardiovasular health.

So having my *goal* in mind, should I just suck it up and do it in the morning or can I just "enjoy" it in the evening

I have roughly 5lb of fat to loose

Morning cardio isn't everything. The reasons a lot of people do it are:
1) Right away in the morning gets them going for the day
2) Harder to put it off and make excuses not to do it
3) On an empty stomach it does have added fat burning with little destruction of muscle
4) You can lift 8 hours later without over doing it and breaking down your body too much

However, if you like p.m. cardio (as I do), go ahead and do that. If you lift and do cardio on separate days (as I do), doing p.m. cardio is fine. In the end of the day, all weight loss is burning more calories than you consume. My cut (see my transformation thread) was done entirely on p.m. cardio, so it works.

No, it's not. Cardio in the morning is arguably (not necessarily) superior for fat loss. But creating a greater caloric deficit through cardio at whatever time best fits in your schedule will aid in fat loss.

The guys above make good points that cover pretty much everything. I would recommend also that you search the forum and become familiar with the different types of cardio out there so that if your results slow, you get bored, or you hit a plataeu, you can employ another tactic. A change in cardio every so often can help increase the fat burning process by preventing adaptation. I recently switched from early morning fasted cardio to H.I.I.T and it's worked wonders for me.

Thanks guys!!

If I dont have to put myself through getting up earlier it would be nice LOL
I also get hypogycemic so eating in the morning makes me feel so much better.
I do my cardio 2 hrs after my meal (one of 6, so not a large meal) so I can eat by the 3rd hour.
I do weights on a different days then cardio, except for Wed, where I do weights first and then cardio to squeeze all 6 in 5 days
Or maybe I should do 2 x 45 minutes instead of 3 x 30 min? (realisticly I do 35-40-45 min, 3 times a week, once I get going..I go ;) )

I do like treadmill and I go at a steady pace st 8-9% incline 3.5 miles/hr (that brings me to 145-150 bpm). I dont enjoy running, I would rather do a more incline or maybe stair master.
I might try bike and do more of a interval training once a week for a change

I'd stick with the 3x 30mins if i was you because of the extra boost in metabolism. Plus due to the pictures you posted you have a large ectomorph componant in you ( ;) ); brief, high intensity sessions are usually best for ectomorph's.

Try the elliptical machine, it works more muscle groups for a better workout.

The Benefits of Cardio

Increases metabolic rate
Increases growth hormone secretion
Reduces stress levels
Increases blood flow to the brain increasing alertness
Improve cholesterol levels
Improves digestion
Boosts immune-system function

Cardio boosts your metabolic rate, so doing it in the morning, and the fact the your metabolic rate is higher in the morning already is where the benefit comes in. Also, your metabolic rate would be elevated throughout the day and help you burn and digest those meals. There are also many other benefits, that I'd rather experience while awake, then later after I've fallen asleep.... :)

Thanks for the suggestions Sean!!

I use elliptical sometimes to warm up, I will use it more often

I work out usually between 6-8pm, but I dont go to bed till 1-2am usually ...due to hubbys schedule (I get up at 8-9)...
So at least I dont do cardio right before I go to sleep

Honestly, If it makes you even a little bit unhappy to do cardio in the morning, then do it when you want.

Better to do it on a regular basis than skip here and there because you don't want to get up. :)
