I just got one of those (Marcy Smith from Costco)...however I can't find anything that states the maximum amount of weight it can handle on the various exercises such as smith bar, free bar, pulleys, legs, etc.
Anyone know this?

I sent marcy/impex an email asking them the same question about a week ago and no response. I bought one also and there is no mention of weight capacity anywhere on anything that comes with the SM 4000.

When I was doing research, this is what I figured out (they may be off 50 lbs, one way or another since this was a year ago):
Bench (Flat): 800 lbs
Bench (Inclined): 600 lbs
Pulleys: 250 lbs (although the cable can hold 2000 lbs)
Leg Ext: 150 lbs or 200 lbs
Preacher: 100 lbs
Cage: 800 or 1000 lbs (although I may be wrong on this one)
Smith: 600 lbs (and this one)
The last two I am pretty foggy on, though. They were both over 500 lbs for sure.

I asked the Dick's employee when I bought my PHE9000 how much weight I could put on the machine. He looked at me and said, "alot." "Like how much," I replied. "Enough," he insured me. I assured him that I would be putting up alot of weight on this thing, and he let me know it would hold it.
I didn't like the answer, but he's probably right. I probably won't break the thing with too much weight.

I have the Powerhouse 6 which is somewhat similar but without the smith machine and butterfly attachment. The instruction manual says the following
Bench (Flat): 600 (includes users weight)
Bench (Incline/Decline) 350 (includes users weight) (I think it can handle more!)
Pulleys: 200
Leg Ext: 150
I asked the manager of the store about the weights before buying it and he had the same stupid answer "a lot" I notice on mine just playing around that over 150 lbs on the lat tower doesn't feel very safe! Though with the Impex 4000 it has that extra cross bar to hold it in place whereas mine doesn't.
I can say that all in all I'm happy with how mine is working out for me. Be sure to use silicon grease, etc....on moving parts for smoothness :tu:

Strange that there doesn't seem to be any "official" specs for the SM4000. Couldn't there be potential for a lawsuit if someone loads up too much weight and hurts themselves if something breaks?
I do have to say that it seems very solid and I doubt I'd ever put up enough weight to get close to whatever the threshold is, but at the same time, everyone wants that "assurance".
