Well, I started on June 5th I was 175.5...as of today I'm only 169. There was a point during last month where I was 166. I didnt want to lose weight to fast and lose muscle so I upped my calories a little from around 1500 to about 1800. I just started cardio 2 days agao to help burn off some more fat but.... I lost most of that weight in the first week of June, I do feel ALOT stronger and I think my arms got a bit bigger. I'm just pissed because I still think I look the same. If I am gaining muscle and lossing fat its sure as hell not helping me see my abs... :(

Oh well....I'm pretty PEO'D right now. Ohh but yesterday I finally benched 170..thats one goal....hmm I might rework my diet and routine.

You should treat this has a marathon in my opinion. Its nice to see gains of course and to try to get better results but i wouldn't expect a lot in one month expecially if your looking for define abs which is the worst area for men. Learn more about diets and weight training.

It's pretty normal to lose a bunch of weight at the beginning -- water weight. After a few months, if you pay attention to what you eat and drink, you'll be able to predict pretty accurately how much water weight you have. Don't worry about big losses in the first few weeks.

Do you think I should start doing more cardio?.....or should I keep with what I'm doing, because I'm def getting stronger. I just dont want to lose the muscle that I have gained. Thanks for the replies :tu:

Cardio will do two main things for you -- 1. You can eat more. Simply put, cardio will burn another sandwich or cup of milk or whatever. With cardio, you can increase your calories. For some people, this is really helpful. 2. Your cardiovascular system will be healthier, stronger, faster, etc. Increased endurance, etc. This is certainly more helpful for overall fitness and health than #1. However, I've really cut my cardio back until I get my muscle:fat ratio in better alignment. I've not cut it out completely, but way back, so I focus my energy on diet and weight lifting. If you have extra time, cardio is good.

Actually the whole month I went without cardio and just lifted. I think my calories are still too low for my weight. its so hard to get in my calories eating clean food. I just started cardio 3 days ago but I dont do too much of it because I dont want to lose all my muscle lol :tu:

If you have to choose between eating clean on the one hand, and eating enough calories on the other -- eat the calories, dude. The number of calories is more important for fat loss than where they come from. I'm not saying that you can eat pizza everyday and lose fat, but I am saying this --

All things being equal, 1800 calories of pizza everyday will burn fat faster than 800 calories of tuna and oatmeal.

Keep up the good work.

A its so hard to get in my calories eating clean food.

I will never, ever, understand this. I have to watch every last little thing I eat to get down to 1500kcal/day, and there is no way I can go that low on lifting days. Shave off 20kcal here and 40kcal there. Make sure I dont snack on a couple of nuts, or even too many grapes. How anyone can have problems eating over 2000 kcal of clean food is beyond me.

Just add like 1/2 cup of oats and some protein powder or cottage cheese - 250kcal right there! A couple of peices of fruit - 150kcal. I mean it adds up so quickly. 1600kcal over 6 meals is not even 300kcal/meal. WTF do you eat? A chicken breast and veg is nearly 300kcal without even adding fats. You look pretty burly, I would have thought youd have some appetite after lifting.

What about pre and post WO - for your weight those 2 meals should be at least 600kcal, probably closer to 800kcal, plus another 400 kcal for the post post-WO meal no more than 30 mins later if you are as low as say 400kcal pre-WO and 200kcal shake post-WO. That's at least 1000-1200kcal around workouts. Then you have your protein+veg+fats during the rest of the day - like I said I just don't understand, probably never will.

I have done 1600kcal days, but couldn't do it for any length of time (1 week max) and I weigh less than you do!

For me its more just getting use to eating clean foods. Old habits die hard and i don't believe in going on a %100 clean diet in a few days. You will certainty crave your old habits. But that's just my opinion.
