krosspyder Tue, July 5th, 2005, 02:16 AM welcome! good job so far man... good work. keep going... keep cutting.
i wouldnt bulk... just cut.... eat lots of clean food while staying under TDEE (total daily energy expendetre) numbers, doing cardio 4-6 days a week, lifting HARD and HEAVY at least 3 days a week.... untill you get down to about 10% body fat or whatever looks good for you.
how tall are you? 6'4"?

While this is a valid point, i think bulking, especially without the correct nutrition and at the wrong time, can often lead to increased fat storage. The less fat you have when beginning a bulk, the less fat you will put on (in theory at least). I think if you're losing fat fairly consisitantly then don't change anything right now. Most people don't bulk until they're around the 12% or less body fat mark.
You mentioned that you lost 30lbs of scale weight, this alone is not a good way to measure your progress, what percentage of the weight you lost was fat? How much was muscle? If you're unsure then get yourself some calipers (Accu-Measure, skinfold etc.) so you can measure properly. You'll be thankful in the long term.
I think your decision should be based on where you want to end up, and when you want to get there. Do you want to be "big" and muscular, or "lean" and muscular? You can achieve the latter, argubly, in less time by continuing to lose fat now before bulking in my opinion.
Personally i think you should continue to cut, just so long as you're following a good weight training/cardio/nutrition plan and maintaining muscle.
1FastGTX Tue, July 5th, 2005, 09:24 AM You've lost some fat so far, very nice work!
I would continue to cut if I were you. Try to get that skin tightened up further (it should I believe), get a little more definition and maybe some of your abdominals showing, and then bulk. I don't see you much more than 3-4 months away from this point if you work hard.

xcommander45 Tue, July 5th, 2005, 10:11 AM Thancks to all for the encouragment. I think i can be hge with the bone structure that i have Sean but i still want them muscles to show so il keep cutting for a few months.
I dont actually count the calories i eat but i know im eating alot less.Does anyone know of a good calorie counter.
Should i eat 40% protein 40% carbs abd 20 fat or should i increase the fat intake and decrease the carbs.
Im about 6.2 crossspyder.
Trex_Lean_machine Tue, July 5th, 2005, 10:26 AM dude i'll keep it simple - i think u should keep cutting

Personally i add-up calories manually straight off the packages the food comes in because i generally eat similar foods the majority of the time so it doesn't take me too much effort.
Many on this site recommend fitday.com to add up the calories for them. Havn't tried it myself but why don't you give it a whirl.

Personally i would keep the carbs as high as i can while still seeing positive results because this way, when/if you hit a plateux you have one extra tool to help break it (lowering the carbs). Most here would recommend 40:40:20 but i would without doubt recommend a 50-55% carbs, 30% protein, 15-20% fat. I am currently at around 7 to 7.5% body fat and the lowest i've dropped my carbs is to 50% so i guess it depends on the individual. Start with 55% carbs because if this doesn't work you can always lower that percentage :tu: Once at 40%, lowering carbs becomes a little more complicated (see "carb cycling") and can be detrimental to your progress if done incorrectly; it is usually employed as a temorary tactic for those stuck in a plateau or those with an already low body fat level looking to decrease fat further.
Read the "sticky's" at the top of the cutting page for more info ;)
