I am not asking for a diagnosis or anything just wondering if its extremely painful or just a mild discomfort. Also I am heavy so I am not sure if I'd see any bulges in the area?
I only ask because I was at the gym monday and I pushed myself. I did some Lat Pull down and seat rows. Yesterday I noticed some mild discomfort in my lower right abdomin. I figured maybe I just strained something.
My diet has made me real gassy so maybe its some intestial discomfort. If it doesn't go away over the weekend I will go to the doctor.
I just remember my buddy had a hernia and he couldn't sit he was in so much pain. I am no were near that.
Any one with hernia experience?

i had a similar feeling the day after i did some heavy lifting. i worried that it could be something serious as well, i.e. hernia.
in my case, it just went away. id figure you would know if you had a hernia, like your buddy who couldnt sit.
i could be wrong though. i guess what you said is best, go to the doctor if the pain doesnt go away on its own.

had one when i was in high school, whenever i would run a lot in gym class or something like that i had this intense pain in my abdomen area for the longest time i ignored it untill one day i went for a physical and found it out that pain was a hernia acting up...there are different types of hernias so your buddy's experience may have been different than yours...JUST TO BE SAFE go see your doc, the test takes like 2 seconds, turn and cough! :D
hernia repair isnt that big a deal either, recovery is like a week or two at most, the healing time RIGHT AFTER sucks ass though, but like i said better safe than sorry.

The discomfort has pretty much subsided today. I still might go to the doctor. I think my digestion is one of the problems I am having.
Thanks Guys!

Normally the pain from an inguinal hernia is in the groin not the abdomen. I had one on each side about 20 years apart. both times from lifting more weight than I should have. They don't go away once you have them. They will only get worse as you lift heavier weights. Go see the Doc.

Sometimes when I am wearing a weight belt during certain lifts it digs into my side into the area you are talking about. The first couple of times it happend I didn't notice it during the lift but afterwards I was concerned until I noticed what was happening.

Hernias are a mixed bag for everyone. Some people get them and don't even know they have one. Others are in such pain they can't move. Some get them from lifting too much weight, while others can get them from mowing the lawn.
I'd see a doctor to make sure.
