1.) Here's a cool link gymnastics rings training. Check out the crazy UPSIDE DOWN dumbell work!

...& the next link lays out the fundamental training a little bit more:

2.) Here's my question to anyone who might have some ring experience:
What do you do with your wrists in order to flip all the way over? Is it a specific grip or a grip change? Do you somehow change the ring orientation? Am I an idiot? :o
This is just for fun. I was playing on the rings at the beach this last weekend and I could get inverted but wasn't sure if I'd just break my wrists if I flipped over. Now I'm obsessed with doing some flips.

I'm starting that dumbbell cross program soon.

What do you mean flip over? Describe the action.

A ring should be able to rotate and move in all directions on the horizontal plane (it can move in other planes but doing so isn't safe unless you're a trained gymnast). So, you can change the orientation of your wrists to match the skill you're performing; grips change by turning the rings in or turning them out (rotating your wrists so that your palms face you or not),

Thanks for the reply. I'll have to go back in a couple weeks and try to figure out exactly what I'm asking. :p If you happen upon or know of a link that describes rings in more detail, feel free to forward it to me.

Hey how long do you think it'll be before you can do the iron Cross?

Check out drillsandskills.com (http://www.drillsandskills.com) for gymnastic exercise information. I warn you not to try anything that inverts you; without live coaching, the potential for injury is very high.

Six months to a year seems like a reasonable amount of time. If I were to achieve it in less than that I'd be extremely surprised.
