Well, I have been thinking about taking a multivitamin since I read Jeremy Likness' article on Natural Physiques that was linked in another thread the other day.

So I've been shopping around, and I don't know which vitamin to purchase. It seems like I could spend my entire life researching the subject but I just want something that works.

Jeremy recommends a certain type of vitamin at the bottom of his article but that vitamin is $50-odd for 84 pills.

AST Sports Science has one for $15 or so with 100 pills, and I sort of trust their name (even though I've never bought anything from them).

What do you use, and what would you recommend?

I'm tempted to go with the AST since it's much cheaper and I'm a student with very heavily negative cashflow :)

Thanks guys.

AST's is very good from what I've been told.

I'm currently researching this now, thinking of switching to one of Beverly's multis. I really like that company anyway.

I use the ones Jeremy recommends (and uses). I believe they are the best available. Guaranteed potency and what's on the label is in the tablet. yes, they are a little more expensive, but at least I know I'm getting what I'm supposed to.

Unfortunately, it's more than a little :)

Do you get the Essentials package with the 2 bottles or just the multivitamins?

I take GNC Megamen Multivitamin. It's a pretty affordable, generic and I feel good when I take it.

There might be a substantial difference in high quality vitamins and generic ones.... I couldn't tell you. Personally, I've never paid that much for vitamins and I don't think there is anything wrong with that..... I just haven't. However, I can tell you that going from no vitamins to GNC Megamen Multi I felt a lot better.

Good luck finding the right one for you. :gl:

Here are a few things about multis.

Personally, I think the Centrums and the One-a-Days are trash, and you may as well be not taking anything. Most of those ingredients are not bioavailable and are mostly synthetic.

Be sure it has a solid B-Complex in it. B's are what your body uses for a lot of things, most noticably energy synthesis and sustainment. Bs however, are very water soluable, so this brings me to my next point.

Be sure its Time Released. Your body can only absorb a finite amount of things at once, and whatever your body cannot take at the time you swallow those pills, your body will try to flush out. B and C for example, your body will dissolve in water and pass through your urine. (thus, the Mt. Dew yellow urine). Even with a time released multi you will still see this, however what you need of B-6 one day may nto be the same you need for B-6 another day.

If you can, get a gender based formula. It will have increased/decreased levels of certain ingredients particularly for men/women. (aka Men's formulas will probably not have much, if any iron, because we don't need to replace our Red Blood cells on a monthly basis. (and too much iron can constipate you, and also it will oxidize/rust in your system and can damage muscle tissue with the rust).

Vitamin E- Here is a trick with vitamin E. The synthetic stuff is crappy mc crap. DL-Alpha vs. D-Alpha. Easy way to remember it DL-Alpha = Darn Lousy- Alpha. DL-Alpha is snythetic.

I personally love the GNC Mega Men, its 16.99 (in Boston, that is) for a month and a half and 29.99 for 3 months.

But thats my $0.02. :gl:

Take a look at our product (AtLarge Nutrition's) Multi-Plus:

http://www.atlargenutrition.com/nutrition_detail.php/products_id/6

We don't take the "everything but the kitchen sink" approach like so many other companies do. We narrowed the matter down to those vitamins and minerals we feel are MOST important for the hard training individual and then included them in SIGNIFICANT quantities.

Our product is truly for the athlete/weight trained individual.

I'm a Vitaman World guy myself. Their Ultra Vita Man vitamins are great. Here's the link: http://www.vitaminworld.com/pages/Categories.asp?xs=2DE56EBA03D2413BAC5640A91D0CCD59&CID=34

You get 200 tablets (100 days worth) for $21.99. Right now they are on sale for buy one get one half off. That amounts to a 200 day supply for $33. That's over 6.5 months worth for $33. They are a good value and a good product, in my opinion.
