Fly_Moe Fri, June 24th, 2005, 02:38 PM I just copied this from the Crystal Method thread that I posted in. Anyway, here's some good techno bands/ DJ's that I listen to: Crystal Method Daft Punk Basement Jaxx Carl Cox Antiloop Armin Van Buuren VNV Nation Sasha John Digweed Praga Khan Paul Van Dyk Juno Reactor Gus Gus Fatboy Slim Christopher Lawrence David Seaman BT Suzy Solar Seb Fontaine Pete Tong chicanerous Fri, June 24th, 2005, 03:14 PM VNV Nation <-- plays futurepop, a type of industrial with synths. I guess you could listen to it for cardio, but it'd be the odd one out in that list. Juno Reactor too, but it fits a lot better because of its goa/psy trance influences; it would be more for a "darker" cardio -- most of the other stuff on the list is pretty dancable/happy. ShadowPenguin Fri, June 24th, 2005, 03:52 PM funny you should mention it, i've been listeing to winamps trance stations all day. at least for me...its Gabber...Hardkore...but thats if you have an angry workout like me :D are you looking for DJ Mixes or produced tracks, like artist albums who do all their own tracks...DJ Mixes look for Venom, Micro, Sasha and Digweed, if you want a mix in between Hardkore angry type stuff and lift you up cardio trance, try Jungle/Jump Up/Drum n' bass on that front Dieselboy, Aphrodite, AK1200, DJ Starscream aka #0 the DJ for Slipknot. it's been awhile, i'm just now getting back into the scene and picking up on whats the new talent but that should get you started. michaelj Fri, June 24th, 2005, 04:28 PM I've recently taken to listening to quite a bit of 'Digitally Imported' @ http://www.di.fm/ Particularly, the 'State Of Trance' sets by Armin Van Buurin on Thursdays - some of the best 2-hour sets. Whenever I drop out of the zone at work, I plug in and fire some of this up, and I'm back into it pretty quick. chicanerous Fri, June 24th, 2005, 05:07 PM DI is very good. I listen to a lot of Philosomatika (http://www.philosomatika.com/); I like it better than DI's goa/psy stream. Banditfist Fri, June 24th, 2005, 10:43 PM Anything...I mean anything Oakenfold! Cannot believe that long list didn't have him there. Armin Van Buren's two set is really good too. LarryNC Fri, June 24th, 2005, 11:12 PM I listen to a bunch of DDR songs, they are technoish ;) Boxer-in-training Sat, June 25th, 2005, 02:00 AM I also like Crystal Meth. And tonight's workout had some David Gahan "Dirty Sticky Floors." That one always gives me a chuckle. yogro Sat, June 25th, 2005, 05:14 AM infected mushrooms dledeaux Sat, June 25th, 2005, 04:40 PM Why is techno not more popular if so many people like it and listen to it? You have radio stations that play rap, country, rock, etc, but nothing that plays techno. chicanerous Sat, June 25th, 2005, 04:56 PM Infected Mushroom -- awesome! Astral Projection -- awesome! Not many people like electronica. To make up a statistic, I'd say for every 100 people there are: < 50 people who like one or two cross-over hits < 30 of those people who know of and like one of the popular artists but don't regularly listen to them (Crystal Method, Tiesto, Oakenfold, etc.) < 15 of those people who regularly listen to the popular artists < 10 of those people who regularly listen to other artists < 5 of those people who are connoisseurs of a wide range of genres But, I definitely think it's gaining popularity. ShadowPenguin Sun, June 26th, 2005, 05:08 AM just picked up the new Christopher Lawerence CD "Un-Hooked" OUTSTANDING!! I can't beleive i didnt mention Oakenfold either *STUPID STUPID STUPID!* The guys is a genius...he's spinning in philly next weekend too! lajban Tue, June 28th, 2005, 09:11 AM Hi, If you want more dance-trance or what ever you should call it try - pulsradio.com For more trance / progressive trance you can try etn.fm - lots of nice livesets there. Regards Andreas Fly_Moe Tue, June 28th, 2005, 09:47 AM VNV Nation <-- plays futurepop, a type of industrial with synths. I guess you could listen to it for cardio, but it'd be the odd one out in that list. Juno Reactor too, but it fits a lot better because of its goa/psy trance influences; it would be more for a "darker" cardio -- most of the other stuff on the list is pretty dancable/happy. Yeah, you're right that VNV Nation would be the odd one out, but I love listening to their music doing cardio or weights. I threw that in there to add diversity to the list I made. By the way, if you ever get a chance to see VNV in concert, definitely go. They put on a great show. Wear black if you go though, since there were a lot of "goth" type people there. Made for interesting people watching, that's for sure. fosse Tue, June 28th, 2005, 09:51 AM anything by crystal method. trip like i do#####my fav :spaz: Fly_Moe Tue, June 28th, 2005, 09:52 AM Anything...I mean anything Oakenfold! Cannot believe that long list didn't have him there. Armin Van Buren's two set is really good too. I left Paul Oakenfold off the list because I figure everyone who knows something about techno/electronic music has heard of him. If you haven't heard of him you either haven't been paying attention, or you're new to the techno/electronic scene. I also think that his music has been going down hill lately. I've seen him DJ several times and his stuff seems to be getting worse and worse everytime I go and see him live. I mean, he use to be the man when it came to a live DJ performance. Maybe it was just the shows I saw, but I haven't been impressed with him lately. I dunno, maybe it's just me. chicanerous Tue, June 28th, 2005, 11:00 AM Yeah, you're right that VNV Nation would be the odd one out, but I love listening to their music doing cardio or weights. Ah damn, they just came to town in the past month, but I let it slip my mind and missed the concert. You should check out Diary of Dreams for a similar sound -- a bit more industrial though. leftyx Thu, June 30th, 2005, 08:45 AM I don't listen to CDs but if you have a DVD player you could get any of the Blade dvds and the soundtrack is great for cardio, and you have somethong to watch at the same time. Leftyx (Jordan) I have to get a sig. Eradicator Fri, July 1st, 2005, 09:25 AM There's also Proton Radio (http://www.protonradio.com) with mostly progressive house and trance, but they have a few shows with tech-house, techno, and some more obscure stuff. I would also recommend checking out La Bodega DJ Camp (http://www.labodegadjcamp.com) (which has been unavailable lately -- hopefully they're not closing down) and Brian Ffar (http://www.brianffar.com) for tech-house. Of course you could always check out my mixes (shameless plug  ) at trance-port (http://trance-port.com). Also, if you're into mailing lists, I've found quite a bit of good mixes on the Tech-House Board (http://www.techhouseboard.org), although it looks like their site is messed up right now. You could try emailing subscribe to techhouseboard.org. I think that's how you join the list. |
