I have some weight gainers, and due to its obsene amount of sugar I only want to use it sparingly. I'm not sure if that will make it pointless or not, but that's not the point. I'm wondering if it would be better to take it pre-workout, post-workout, on my rest days, or whenever.

I'm generally not a fan of weight gainers. As you said, they usually have waaay to much sugar and I'm not sure on how to properly incorporate them into a diet.
What's the nutritional info look like? Post the facts and we can provide you with a more solid recommendation.

Agreed. We need to see more info.
Generally you could include the shake whenever you want as long as it fits into your needs for the day or for that time. I'd like to see the product first before making any suggestions however.
