Actually not an idiot. He did this for sake of a documentation. Kinda like Bowling for Columbine with Burgers instead of guns.

I heard about this on the Howie Carr show, it cracked me up. I wish there were before and after pictures but I guess I'll have to wait for the video to come out.

Come on - there is no point to subject yourself to that -- what did he think was gonna happen, he was gonna lose weight?

Please...I think I'll go on an all Dorito's diet and make a dietcumentary on that...

Wait, I am not an idiot!

No, he did it to prove that McDonald's food is not as nutritious as they claim it is. Any body in their right mind knows they won't lose weight by eating burgers all day, and he made this documentary to show that not only does the food make you fat, but has detrimental effects on your body as well. I think he's pretty brave to subject himself to this kind of danger in order to educate others. :claplow:

He didn't need to do that, I've been on the Micky-D's diet for a while...which is now why I am overweight.

Wow. I'd never subject myself to that. I can't eat one burger a day, let alone three.

BTW, it's worth noting you can have the ocassional McD's without killing yourself. Sometimes when I'm having a really busy day, I'll need to do a drivethrough because there's no other easily available option. A single cheeseburger, small fry and diet soda is 540 calories (http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.categories.nutrition.inde x.html), which isn't great but won't kill you if you do it once a month. Granted, they're plain ugly calories, but it's better than freaking out and ordering a Big Mac. :)

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4078903/

from the article:

You ate three meals a day at McDonald’s for 30 days for this film. What happened to your body over the course of that month?
My body just basically falls apart over the course of this diet. I start to get tired; I start to get headaches; my liver basically starts to fill up with fat because there’s so much fat and sugar in this food. My blood sugar skyrockets, my cholesterol goes up off the charts, my blood pressure becomes completely unmanageable. The doctors were like “You have to stop.”

How much weight did you put on?
I put on about 25 pounds in a month.

Yeah I found that really interesting. Before I started eating clean, Maccas was one of my favourite "food groups".

I think its good what he's doing, he may just be trying to get publicity but McDonalds are still trying to claim that their food has nutritional value and its ridiculous. :(

Its good though, after eating clean I realise what crap it is, I dont even crave it anymore. :tucool:

Many years ago, McDonalds and the whole fast food industry switched the fat they were frying the stuff in from animal fat to vegetable oil. Now you can't find a french fry that doesn't taste like crunchy card board. Fries have just become a carrier for the salt.

It's also known that you can't eat fast food for every meal, and I can understand why the fast food industry made the switch, because a good portion of the country doesn't feel that way.

What I would like to see though, is a company that stands up and says:

"Listen, we know that a fast food diet isn't the ideal scenario. But when you decide to indulge and have a "cheat" meal, come to Boffo Burger. We fry our stuff in pure, unadulterated animal fat and we guarentee that we that the best tasting fries and fried chicken in the world!"

I would certainly go there. Hell, if you going to have a cheat meal it might as well taste good!

I think this report simply goes a long way toward bringing the dangers of fast foods and poor nutrition to light. Sure, most people are aware that "fast food isn't good for me", but this experiment shows that it is etremely bad for you. It has no value to the body. In fact it causes the body to simply shut down.
Sure at forums like this, we may be tempted to scoff at this as an extreme example, but for many millions (billions?) of people this is not all that far from their normal daily routine.

yeah :tu: to this guy.
as a film maker - I respect his strength to put himself through this.

it is a public service to many people who think mcD's is "ok" to eat often.

fast food is equivalent to smoking - it won't "kill you" right way - but it absolutely leads to un healthy outome.

McD's official responce to this was to say the guy was stupid for eating 5000 calories per day

- but the point is - ONE mcD's meal can easily get to 1500 calories - so 3 meals will get to 5000 calories with out much trouble.
most people that eat mcD's are not calorie counting -so if they eat regular and have mcD's a few times per week - they too are eating stupid amounts of calories - but just don't know it.
why is america the fattest nation in the world?

I know one reason why. Here in New York schools(or atleast in mine), guess how long "Health" class is. Probably the most important class in school(It should be, they teach us crap) is a half year course that you take once. And nutrition is only taught for about a week. Then its on to heart disease, cancer, whatever. There is very little "Health" taught in Health class. I would rename the class "Disease", as there is very little taught about health and how to achieve it.
One more thing, the health teacher used to be a pharaceutical salesman. So now we have an ex-drug dealer teaching kids health.

why is america the fattest nation in the world?
I think thats reaon number one.
