View Full Version : Any Battlefield 1942 gamers in here ?
TaxiTodd Mon, June 20th, 2005, 03:46 AM I have been playing Battlefield 1942 for over a year now. I downloaded the demo of Battlefield II last week.
I think I still like BF1942 better.
Anyone planning on buying BF II when it comes out this week ?
I will prob. get it because all the people I play BF1942 with will now be playing BF-II
BusyChild Mon, June 20th, 2005, 08:42 AM That's a great game!! I was playing that about 2 years ago online and I was also playing Desert Combat (which was an add on to BF).
I eventually stopped playing because I got bored and didn't play for a year or so. Then about a month ago I decided to load it and play but when I logged on to ASE (all seeing eye, a program to locate other players online) not many people were playing and I couldn't connect to any server.
Part 2 will probably be even better but if I get that I won't get much work done. :D
Adam and Jess Mon, June 20th, 2005, 09:28 AM i love BF1942 but havent played in a LONG time since I bought Call of Duty which in my opinion is the best online WW2 game ever. I'll be waiting for Call of Duty 2 instead of BF2

ebatch20 Mon, June 20th, 2005, 09:35 AM Been playing Battlefield since it came out... switched over to Desert Combat and played that until DCF came out. Now I play BF2 everyday as my team and I prepare for league and ladder play.
I really like BF2, but DC is still one of my all time favorite games (mod).
Hort Mon, June 20th, 2005, 09:40 AM Played DC the most- online it was fun. Singleplayer- CoD was by far a better game.
I have a gang that has been playing BF2. It's OK- the game is full of bloated code making it far too taxing on average rigs. It's also very memory intensive- so it doesn't look appreciably better than 42 or DC or BFVietnam.
Looking forward to a new game that is actually good (Pariah was a MAJOR disappointment). I'm actually replaying HL2 now. If somebody could build a BF2 type game using Valve's HL2 engine... w00t!
Mooshie Mon, June 20th, 2005, 12:18 PM BF2 has some very cool new squad and commander features. You actually feel like part of a team instead of just 1 guy in a group of 32 looking for his next frag.
Hort Mon, June 20th, 2005, 12:23 PM The squad features are cool but they'll really only be effective for the very small percentage who clans. General public servers won't get much use from it. (I've had my hands in helping run online gameservers for years- mostly for UT, some for DC)
jeremya Mon, June 20th, 2005, 12:24 PM I am excited for BF2 tomarrow... I hve been playing the demo for a week or so. It's a big improvement over BF1942. At first when I read about having commanders I thought this will never work, but no it's very clear that having a good commander is almost key. It also helps to have squad leaders that know how work with the commander.
My Buddy and I are trying to get a group of 10-12 people to play in 1-2 squads on fairly regular basis. We are both mid to late 20 yo professionals so we don't play 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Maybe a couple nights a week and usually one night on the weekend. If anyone is interested in joining such a group send me an IM.

Sazuki Wed, June 22nd, 2005, 08:10 AM I used to play battlefield 42, I started in team Legion Condor, and after that we turned into Dignitas and won quite some european titles. It was a good time when I think about it now but I had to move on with my life.
I loved the jeep stunt and the wingwalks :)
Brad5150 Mon, June 27th, 2005, 10:59 AM mike2112 and i both play BF1942, DC, BFV and will be getting BF2 one day :tu:
