View Full Version : Flab to Fab Challenge
jeremya Sun, June 12th, 2005, 01:00 PM I have been lurking here for a while. A few months back I lost 15 lbs eating clean and exercising (cardio and weights). I fell of the wagon and put the weight back on, but now it's time to get serious about getting fit and healthy.
My personal goal is to lose 100 lbs in 12 – 18 months. I am looking for some folks who need to lose a lot of weight (75-100+ lbs) to join me. This is a long term project and my hope is this challenge would serve as a support system.
Challenge members should: keep a fitness journal either here on this site or at some other site, post weekly updates here (this thread), and take monthly pics. It's that simple!
Mini-Challenge: If you need to lose less weight (50-75 lbs) I'd love to have you join me too even if it's only for 6-8 months.
I am starting Monday 6/13/05, but feel free to join at any time by posting your starting stats and a link to your journal.
I will post my starting stats and journal link this evening.

michaelj Mon, June 20th, 2005, 02:45 PM Hey Jeremy,
You can count me in. I'm hoping to lose between 80 and 100 pounds in the next 12-18 months, and (more importantly) get my bodyfat% down from around 34% to 15% (or under...).
I'm hoping to post food stats daily in my journal (in my signature), along with weekly weigh-ins, and I guess I could stretch to monthly pictures.
Lot's of hard work ahead :db: but it will be worth it.
Michael.
jeremya Mon, June 20th, 2005, 03:05 PM Michael,
Awesome! Yeah it will be a tough year, but we will make it. I find it hard to skip going to the gym knowing I have to come back here and write about.
I will post my first week summary after work tonight.

Hey guys,
Any room on the boat for another fat loser? At least that's what I want to be....a fat loser. I need to lose about 50 lbs of it to be exact. I just joined JSF the other day, so I need to spend some time to get a journal together.....but I'm in if you'll have me.

More to come soon......
jeremya Mon, June 20th, 2005, 11:58 PM Week one went well. I lost 6 pounds. I am sure some of that was water. The only downside was I pushed my leg workout a little too hard. My calfs are still in knots making cardio not an option tonight. My workout schedual is shifted this week due to a wedding rehersal, wednesday, and a wedding on friday. So I am shifting my lifting days to Tue, Thu, & Sat.
Buddha Tue, June 21st, 2005, 12:48 PM I think that I might want to join this challenge as well. I am in another, but I don't think that 2 will hurt :) Count me in. I ulimately have about 150+ pounds to lose.
jeremya Tue, June 21st, 2005, 02:07 PM Hey Buddha! Welcome to the Challenge!
I think we have a real strong group of guys here. I am certain we will all see the results of our hard work and detemination.
Don't forget to post your weekly updates. Also share your sucesses and stumbles.
Maybe I should keep a running total of the number of pounds this group loses. What do you guys think?

Hey Man!
Might have to re-name the challenge.
jeremya Tue, June 21st, 2005, 04:27 PM "The Buddha Busters Challenge" ? lol
Buddha Tue, June 21st, 2005, 05:31 PM LOL, I got the nickname while in younger when I shaved my head, and they said I looked like Buddha. I post updates of lbs and stuff on my other challenge every Saturday, so that is when I will plan on posting here.
Christi Thu, June 23rd, 2005, 01:54 AM Hi all.
You still open for an additional person??
I just joined jsf the other day and am still trying to figure this forum stuff out. I have about 50-60 lbs that I would like to part with. The range is due to not being sure what the muscle I want to add will do to the final scale number. I haven't worked out consistently for about 15 years so this sounds like a great place to help keep me motivated.
I will need to get a journal started and current stats and will do that this week.
jeremya Thu, June 23rd, 2005, 02:18 AM Welcome Christi! There's always room for one more.
-- Jeremy
themuss Thu, June 23rd, 2005, 06:27 AM If its still alright - I would like to join as well. I've tried transformation attempts at least 7 times and failed all of them. This isnt going to be number 8. I have eliminated the things which I figured out were causing me to fail last time and its just going to be the fat melting off from now until XMAS.
My starting weight is 85.5 (188lbs) with 23% BF.
My goals are to get to 75kg (165lbs) and with 9% BF
Will post journal thread and weekly measurements, plus monthy photos.
jeremya Thu, June 23rd, 2005, 02:50 PM themuss, Welcome!
How's everyone doing? Everything going well this week?
I am having trouble sleeping so today I feel like a member of the walking dead. Yesterday my stomach was giving me trouble so I skipped a wedding rehearsal dinner. So this week could be going better for me, but I am not going to complain ( Well not too much! ;) ).
Tonight I am going to try doing my Leg work out mid-week (Yeah I know its Thursday, but I had to shift my schedule because of the wedding). Tomorrow I will try not to pig out too much at the wedding and dance off whatever calories I can. ;)

themuss Thu, June 23rd, 2005, 04:45 PM Thanks for letting me join gang!
You will find my fitness journal under Flab2Fab challenge journal.
This morning I am at 84.5 and 19.5%BF, however disappointed that I didnt run this morning, It was 6 degrees celsius and raining, so I probably used my better judgement to skip it. I dont mind missing these workouts here and there, so long as i stay consistent with my weights program, and dont miss too many days. I have until Xmas.
What I do need to do however, is invest in a pair of digital scales! I'm over my normal ones, I can hardly read them.
Christi Thu, June 23rd, 2005, 11:52 PM Glad to be aboard! I followed themuss's example and started my fitness journal thread as Flab2Fab Challenge Journal - Christi
I've been working a desk job for the past 10 years and haven't done much in the exercise area other then some hiking in the summer. This will be a slow start and any ideas on the best way to get back into things would be appreciated. I have free weights, a bench and books I can go through for correct form but it still gets overwhelming.
Thanks! --- Christi
michaelj Fri, June 24th, 2005, 01:41 AM Hi to all you guys...
My first week is a bit slow, and my weigh-in on Sunday will probably reflect that. It's great to have more people going the haul... we can all get there if we keep at it :tucool:
themuss Sat, June 25th, 2005, 07:07 PM Hey all, the end of an interesting week has come to an end for me, as expected I made some big gains in the "body shocking" week. You can check out the everything in my Flab2Fab challenge journal in the other section. I have also posted a photo of me before I started this transformation, this is at an all time low. I will post another at the end of next month, as we are nearly through June. Below are my stats.
• 2kg LOSS
• 4% BF LOSS
• I lost 1½ inches off my waist.
• I lost ½ an inch off my hips.
Am looking forward to seeing other's progress.
Buddha Sat, June 25th, 2005, 08:48 PM I was down 3 pounds from last week. I am going to have updated pics and measurement tomorrow in my journal.
kjb Sun, June 26th, 2005, 01:45 AM Hi Guys
I tried to start here 6 months ago and the wagon has just kept rolling along. Very keen to partner up.
Also, does anyone know how to get a "sick of being fat" invite?
Cheers

michaelj Sun, June 26th, 2005, 04:28 PM Hey guys... good results from Buddha and themuss I see :claplow:
My week was the last of my 'high cardio' weeks, and as expected I didn't really make any difference. I lost 0.8 Kg, but gained 0.2% bodyfat. As with all of the measurements I took, they're so small compared to the tolerances for variance that I'm definitely on a plateau, especially as they've been similar to this for a few weeks now.
Full life plan starts tomorrow, with new morning cardio, planned 3-day weight split, balanced 40/40/20 nutrition food plan, and an even greater resolve to make a difference.
Who knows what my story will be this time next week
Bring it on :db:
jeremya Sun, June 26th, 2005, 05:17 PM Sounds like everyone had a good week. Micheal I think you're on the right track to breaking that plateau. From everything I have read it seems like all you can do is tighten every aspect of your program up a little.
I had a decent week. I lost 3 pounds and my measurements came down a little. My body fat, as calculated, came down 2.5%. I have my doubts about the accuracy those calculations, but it's all I have to go on for now. I may order some calipers this week and a myotape. I will post my full stats and my thoughts on the week in my journal.
For those of us in the States this coming weekend is the 4th of July holiday. Remember to have fun, but stay focused. A few beers and some hot dogs on the 4th won't do you in, but a weekend of binging might set you back. Everything in moderation!
I am currently reading "The Way to Eat" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1570719837/qid=1119820074/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_ur_2/104-9432214-2624735?v=glance&s=books&n=507846). It's a good book. Although the macros recommended by the author are 60/20/20 (carbs/protein/fat). The information about the nutrition and how the body processes food is very interesting.
Anyway, have a great week! I look forward to reading everyones journals.

shrinkingfatguy Mon, June 27th, 2005, 10:24 AM Hello everyone,
My how we have grown! :D .... Hello to all the newbs. I hope we all reach our goals.
I was really busy over the weekend, but I managed to work out each day and kept my food intake clean. I didn't eat as many calories as the fitnesslog required, but I kept it clean. So far I'm down five and a half pounds...all of it fat! I decided to put up a website just for fun and to post pics and whatnot...... shrinkingfatguy (http://www.shrinkingfatguy.com) ..... but it is still under construction and looks lame right now. I 'll make it look good. It'll just take time.
Start: 233 lbs. / 27.5 % BF
Today: 227.5 lbs / 25.8 % BF
jeremya Mon, June 27th, 2005, 11:29 AM shrinkingfatguy,
Great job on the weight loss! Good luck with the web site. I really need to do some work on mine: fit430.com (http://www.fit430.com/) . It's about in the same state as yours. I have been meaing to write a script so I can do my journal, fitness, and food logs online, but between working out, cooking good food, helping a friend with his site, playing video games, and watching Soccer I haven't found the time. I really should make that a priority.

Christi Mon, June 27th, 2005, 10:15 PM Hi all. Down 2 this week but still working on figuring out how to figure everything out so I know if it's fat or not.
I'm still working on getting a spreadsheet up and running to keep track of everything. I downloaded the Fitness Log one but the macros didn't import into OpenOffice (don't have Excel). I should have a sheet complete later tonight. It's been a week of research research research. I've been getting in some cardio and eating clean but not following a menu as of yet.
My plan for this week is to develop my menu, strength training and cardio plans so I will be able to keep track of what is and isn't working.
jeremya Thu, June 30th, 2005, 03:57 PM How's everyone's week going? Monday I pushed myself, maybe too hard. Wed I was worried I might have a hernia, but today the discomfort I was feeling has gone away. My wife suggested I take another night off, but I think I might go get my leg work out in. I will make my decision this evening.
I also had a little diet stumble last night. I was suppose to have a phone interview for a new job last night, but I got a call from my buddy who works at the company telling me they aren't going to hire anyone to replace the guy that's leaving. So I was bummed and in some mild pain. I also failed to buy all the food I needed for the week. So I had hot dogs and mac 'n cheese. I failed to prepare and prepared myself to fail. Oh well it wasn't a huge stumble.
I think I might take my monthly photo this weekend (end of week 3 for me) because next weekend I will be in Michigan and it will be the end of a rough week. With the July 4th holiday on Monday, back to work for 2 days, then fly to Michigan, throw a bachelor party, attend a wedding, and then fly back to New York.
Hopefully, my new Body Fat callipers will be here in the next day or two.

michaelj Fri, July 1st, 2005, 12:41 AM Hey Jeremy. It seems that getting the balance just right is the hardest part - maybe (hopefully) it gets easier as time goes on. Too bad about the job offer.
For me, it's been a superb week so far as sticking to the goals, although as I sit here now, I'm really not feeling like any cardio, but I've dragged my sorry arse out of bed, promising myself that the weekend is for rest. Also have legs workout tonight, and I'm now feeling the results of the shoulders/back workout on Wednesday.
I've no idea if I've made any 'scale' progress, but I'm certainly starting to feel lots better (apart from now). The biggest challenge will be sticking to my preset meal menu right across the weekend - treating Saturday and Sunday as any other day.
Weigh-in for me on Sunday evening.
themuss Sat, July 2nd, 2005, 07:10 PM Hey everyone, hows everyone going this week?
I've had a pretty decent week, I'm happy to see that I'm still stuck at 83.0kg, as my diet the past week has been a bit permissive, don't get me wrong I havent had junk food, but I've eaten more carbs than I should (see Day 6 in Online Journal).
But I'm feeling pretty happy this morning except for one thing. Damn Bodyfat calipers! I've had it with them, they keep giving me a dfifferent reading each time, I obviously know I'm not at 13.5%BF when I look down and see my gut staring back at me. What I'm thinking of doing is making weekly/monthly consultations with an exercise psyiologist who can properly determine my bodyfat%, then I'll be happy. I'm guessing I'm up around the 17%mark, but not sure.
My motivation hasent been at its all time best, as I piked 2 of my morning runs this week. Granted on Thursday morning it was raining, but there are such a thing as raincoats. However like I've said before I'm not going to beat myself up over it, just going to push harder next week and strive to improve. One quote that is going to be my world over the next 6 months is
"Always act like it was impossible to fail."
Anyway, enough ranting, here are my stats for this week.
* 0.5kg LOSS
* No accurate reading for BF%
* 0.8 inches off my waist
* 0.4 inches off my hips.
Slow and steady - I dont mind that. Have a great weekend everyone, see you next week.

Hey Michael dont worry I have that same problem, because my week is so structred with work and all, I have no prob sticking to my diet, but the weekend comes and its very difficult, especially being young and with your friends always wanting to go out all the time. Hard to stay focused but its the only way to go. :tu:
jeremya Sat, July 2nd, 2005, 08:17 PM I am glad people are having decent weeks. I went from thinking I had a hernia to have a cold... last night I my temp shot up to 100.9. Today I have been resting. If I feel a bit better and the gym is open tomarrow I might do some easy lifting. I have been doing my best to eat fairly clean, but last night and today I didn't feel much like cooking. So I had things like Hamburgers and Hot Dogs...good quality though. This cold has me not eating much anyway. I weighted myself this morning and it looks like I am down 2 pounds on the week. I will take official measurements tomorrow.
Back to the couch to rest.

michaelj Sun, July 3rd, 2005, 04:43 PM Well, just done my weigh-in and as mentioned in my journal, my weight has dropped 2 kilos, but according to my scales, by bodyfat% has gone up by 1%. I wouldn't mind if I'd been larding up, but I've been completely clean and true to my plan for the whole week.
I'm going to carry on with my plan and observe it over the next few weeks. Hopefully I'll see the results tend towards the right direction soon enough.
Have a great week guys.
beops Mon, July 4th, 2005, 09:11 AM I would like to ask permission to join this challenge. There seems to be allot of support for this one as it, as a challenge, seems to fall into a category that allot of us fall into.
My first goal is to get to 275lbs, after that I will re-asses and decide if I go by 25lbs increments or go for it all the way to 220.
Height 73"
Weight 296
Waist 54
hips 52
thigh 29
I haven't been 220 since I was around 20yrs. A life time ago.
I have always worked very hard jobs so while I was over weight for many years I was always also somewhat fit.
It doesn't take me long to get into a cardo grove. I never did get into long term weight lifting so I never grew large muscles. Strength I have from the work.
:eat: food is always an issue with me, I have used it as a drug. I have learned how to eat clean and have been doing well. Especially since I learned I wasn't eating enough. LOL " Eat more loose weight" sounds like a commercial.
Here is the schedule that I will be following.
Monday: a.m. cardo either 20 min of hiit or 30 - 45 of target hart rate. Weight training in the early evening. No more tham 45 min.
Tuesday a.m. cardio no weight training recovery day. ( I'll need it )
Wensday : a.m. cardo either 20 min of hiit or 30 - 45 of target hart rate. Weight training in the early evening. No more than 45 min.
Thursday: a.m. cardio no weight training recovery day
Friday:a.m. cardo either 20 min of hiit or 30 - 45 of target hart rate. Weight training in the early evening. No more tham 45 min.
Weekends no training.
I will do this for a month and reevaluate as necessary.
Looking foward to being a bunch of LOOSERS  with you...
thanks :tu:
Christi Mon, July 4th, 2005, 01:15 PM Hi everyone. Just a quick update for the week. I managed to stay on track with my eating this week. Still having trouble eating enough. I didn't realize how little I was eating.
For cardio I only got a coupe of walk/run cycling days in. I did get a major workout on Saturday and Sunday doing my first back packing trip this year (more on that in my fitness journal).
Still figuring the BF out by measuring and checking it with body fat calculator on the Body Central web site. If I got my measurements in the same place as last time I'm down 1%. Yay!
Working on getting my weight lifting started this week so I hope to have more results next week. Well off to enjoy my Monday off work.
Evil Hx Coupe Mon, July 4th, 2005, 10:00 PM Is it too late to jump on this???
I dont have 100lbs to loose but probably around a good 40-50lbs of fat and my plan is to do it over a year. Let me know if I can jump in this with you guys, I really need the motivation.

jeremya Tue, July 5th, 2005, 12:37 AM beops & Evil, Welcome! Just make some journals and keep us updated.
beops, like you said try your program for a few weeks. I tried something similar a few months ago and quit it after about 3 weeks. I was exhausted. Now I just lift and really only do cardio type activities for fun. If you are going to be restricting your calories all that cardio my not be good thing. If you restrict your calories to lose 1-2 lbs a week and lift weights you should be fine. Add cardio on top of all that and you my drive your body into starvation mode. One of the first things your body will do is try to rid itself of some of that calorie hungry muscle. I am, of course, no expert. Good luck and welcome to the group!
I am still sick. I have 2 days of work then I fly to Michigan for a Bachelor party and wedding. Then it's back to New York where my schedule will mellow out again.
Have a great week everyone! It's going to be a week of moderation for me. I will try not to gain too much back. :)

Thanks jeremya,
Here's my journal and some pics. I don't think I've taken on anything that is to much. What I like about this approach is that I know now that; to much IS to much. The idea that less is better is something that I just learned and while still hard to belive in my bones it is the track I will take.
Thanks for the welcome and look foward to helping and being helped. :tu:

Hey Muss,
I had that problem too, and then I read this file measuring skills (http://www.accufitness.com/products/ImproveYourMeasSkill.pdf). It really helped me out. I've been getting pretty consistent readings ever since. How's everyone doing..... was the weekend tough on those of us in the States? I had mucho temptation at family cookouts, but I did pretty well. The biggest hurdle was beer, but after I told everyone what I was doing and why, they were all supportive and no one pushed it on me. Potato salad, macaroni salad, burgers, steaks and BBQ chicken were harder to avoid completely. How do you tell your aunts you won't eat their secret recipes! Anyway, I kept it to a dull roar, exercised all three days and I'm still going down. 226.5 lbs and 26.3 bf today.... I'm still working on the website, and my camera refuses to download pics, but I'll get it all together soon. Keep up the good work everyone! We'll all be celebrating in a year.

Hey,
There seem to be two sub-groups in our little world here. The 100+ and the 40+ losers. I'm a 40-50 guy myself, so yeah....welcome.
beops Tue, July 5th, 2005, 09:29 PM Didn't do any cardio but did make it to the gym like I promised myself. Saw a friend there that as long as I have known him has been very fit. alittle embressed really.
Very good work out. 45 min. still one set of 15, raised all the weights by 5lbs. Still full range work out, upper and lower. Next week will be where I break up the body parts and start adding sets.
I ordered the EST that john Stone recommends for the D.O.M.S., we'll see if it works.
I also brought with me an Isopure Endurance drink. It has 20 g of protien and 40 g of sugar from Dextrose. I was told this will help in recovery. I drank it room temp right after working out. When I got home I took another 20g of protien in whey .
I didn't eat as much today as I was supposed to, I'm going to have to do better there. For dinner I had a wheat wrap with greens and three bean salad inside. Very tasty. Plenty of protien.
Went to Wally World and got some L-gludimate, and some liquid B complex. Also I found these really great power bars called Cliff Bars. 250 calories all natural ingreadents, They are not bad. These will be great when I have to hit the door in the a.m. in a hurry.
My testomony for today. :tu:
Evil Hx Coupe Fri, July 8th, 2005, 04:55 PM So far so good. Everything has been going as planned. I've eaten from 1700-2000 cals every day, except for yesterday because I went out and had 4 beers and a few mixed drinks (gotta have fun :) ). Other than that everything is great, I did a few weights here and there through out the week to kinda get into it again, and monday I'm starting my official weight training plan.
Now, on to a great weekend :jumping:
beops Fri, July 8th, 2005, 06:06 PM Made it to the gym around 3:30, this is the last day of the first week of my workout routine. This week a start multiple sets on the lower but keep single sets on the upper.
I started each set this time with a warm up set. No treadmill, but my time was still 45 min. I'm not going to do any treadmill work at the gym any more, just weights.
Some sets were right to failure while others were very hard to finish, so I guess I have the right weights worked out.
Started on the ETS supliments John recomends for doms, also L-glumate with my protien drink right after work out.
the biggest set back is the scale has crept up alittle. I would like to see some downward movement. I don't want to get into a funk about it. I suppose even if I never lost a pound and kept working the weights thngs will be better.
I just see some of these other guys that have had very rappid sucuess and I just wounder if I can?
Hope everyone else is well... :tu:

Dont worry about it dude, the scale is weird like that. I dropped weight like crazy for the first few months. Then I kept doing the same thing for about another 6 months and only saw a 4lbs drop in the whole six months. Even though the scale was showing barely any progress the weekly pictures kept looking better and better. Just keep at it and take weekly pics, that's really the only way to measure progress.
You can post your pics here or in the media section for us to give you a pat on the back for doing a good job, or a kick for slacking off :p .

That's some good progress there. How long has it been since the start???
I'm probably gonna start measuring like you do because my BF calipers broke.
themuss Sat, July 9th, 2005, 11:18 PM Week 3 Progress Report
• 1.0kg GAIN
• 0.9 inch GAIN off waist
• 0.4 GAIN on hips
As you can see from the above stats, it was a pretty lousy week for me. I lost control yesterday and had a few cheat meals when I kow I shouldn't of, and now I'm paying for it with increased stats on every aspect. So this week I'm going to push myself pretty damn hard and do absoloutley everything I'm supposed to, eat clean, train 5 days a week. I'm going to get myself psyched now for the week ahead.
I have also bought some protein bars with 45g of protein in each serve and only 10g carbs, which I will divide into 2 and have every day. Looking forward to my progress. 2 more weeks to go until the next set of pictures come out, got to work extra hard and do the business now.

That's the spirit, but dont workout so hard that you wont be able to move the next day :p . Just forget about last week and do what you're supposed to do this week.
What kind of protein bars did you buy??? I'm looking for a similar solution to use as snacks when I'm working and cant make a meal.

That's alot of progress for that amount of time. Keep up the good work :tu:
shrinkingfatguy Sun, July 10th, 2005, 11:35 AM Hey everyone,
I just wanted to weigh in on the scale issue, ( sorry, bad pun ). Evil HX is right, don't let the scale set you back....it is your enemy in this enterprise. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so if you ae lifting you will gain a pound or two here and there. I was starting to bum out this past week because my weight had crept back up, but then I looked at the spreadsheet data and realized that it was muscle. I am on day 20. I started out at 233 and 27.7% bf (169 lean, 64 fat). Today, I am 228 and 26% (169 lean, 59 fat). So far that means I have only lost 5 pounds total...but it was ALL fat! I lost 4 pounds in the first six days and I thought it was going to just fall off after that. Since then, I have fluctuated between 229 and 226, but the bf has steadily dropped. I finally got my camera to work, so I can show you how I look now, but believe me, I was fatter looking 3 weeks ago. Don't give up... you'll fall off the plateau you're on and drop 5 in a couple of weeks.
Evil Hx Coupe Mon, July 11th, 2005, 11:30 PM I kinda underate today (1400cals) because I missed the gym so I didnt take a PWO shake and that kinda killed my cals... Shouldnt be too bad for just one day.
I decided to switch my weight training to the morning and that way I think I'll miss less sections. Lately work has been really crazy so I get home at a different time everyday and then I miss the gym because I'm a very systematic person and everything has to be at the same time everyday and perfectly scheduled or else I feel like I'm a total mess.
I'll let you guys know what I think of morning weight training tomorrow. Wish me luck.
rancid999 Tue, July 12th, 2005, 02:24 AM Dudes,
I need to go from 245 down to 200 lbs... anybody care if i jump in? I could definitely use the correspondence to keep me motivated and thinking about losing weight!
I started at 255 in March, and lost some weight pretty quick (about 10 lbs in 5 weeks) because I was dieting right and exercising regularly. I live on a air force base in afghanistan so things happen day to day and I cant have a regular schedule. Lately this has distracted me from my goals.
Let me know what you think- I don't want to crowd the group. I can always just start my own thread, but you guys are what I am looking for!
jeremya Tue, July 12th, 2005, 11:47 AM rancid999 welcome to the group!
The last two weeks have been crazy for me. I went from being sick (I am still not better) and then flying to Michigan for my buddies bachelor party and wedding. I definitely over indulged. Oh well I only have two best Friends (besides my wife).
I definitely put some weight back on. Gonna wait till the end of the week to see what the damage is. The bad food made my digestion a bit backed up and I am definitely retaining some water. Hopefully by the end of the week things will be back to normal in both those areas.
I am still congested after being sick over the 4th of July weekend. Hopefully I won't have too many issues with breathing at the gym tonight.
I am going to spend some time tonight updating my journal and transferring some information to sickofbeingfat.com.
Have a great week everyone!

themuss Thu, July 14th, 2005, 04:24 PM Hey everyone, hows things this week?
My week has been excellent, I've completed 1/3 of the goals I've set for myself this week which was to get from 83.4 down to 82.0 (as of this morning). I've just got to complete tonight's walk and that will make it 2/3 of the goals completed. This is great stuff. However my weekend goal of maintaining 82.0 will be a harder task, as I do want to reward myself, but how? I don't want a cheat meal, possibly some wholemeal pasta, mayo and tuna (really love it).
Evil HX - I've just bought these bars called Aussie Bodies HLPC, they are excellent, 45g protein each serve, 10 g carbs, and 9.8 g of fat, 7 which is saturated, which isn't so bad, I'm still under 15g of sat fat each day. I divide the bar in 2 and have half at 10:00AM meal and half at the 2:00PM meal.
I'm going out tonight for a friends birthday for dinner, but not going to cheat, I'm either going to order grilled fish and vegetables, or a rump steak with veggies, and possibly a little mushroom sauce, this is good for me. And while the other's are all out getting drunk into oblivion, i'll be kicking back with my water and/or diet soda. It's ok I am happy about this, as not only am I trying to lose weight, but go on a detox program from all alcohol until 31st december 2005. (I've been a bit of a d*ck when it comes to too much alcohol).
Anyway guys and girls, I'll be seeing you on Sunday, have a good one and keep working hard!
themuss Thu, July 14th, 2005, 04:25 PM Oh sorry, just in case you were wondering, I've changed my goals, down to 70kg and 8% BF. I'm a pretty short guy, so 70kg is probably best for me.
shrinkingfatguy Fri, July 15th, 2005, 08:53 AM Hello all,
How's everyone? I am in a plateau. I can't believe I've hit one this quickly, but there it is. I am stuck at 227 - 229 lbs and 26 - 27 % bf. I have kept the diet 90% clean and not missed workouts until this week, ( the last three days have been resting away a muscle pull), but my body has decided this is the weight it wants to be. Like I said before, I really don't care as much about the weight as I do the bf though. I'm due for body measurements and photos tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. I'm considering going on a 2 week "intervention" diet to see if I can jumpstart the losses. I bought this book - Protein Power (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0553574752/ref=pd_sxp_elt_l1/104-5416474-7573532) - a few years ago. The principles are pretty much the same as eating clean, though they allow for more meat. There is a good forum (http://bbs.eatprotein.com/) too, similar to this one, but focused on eating habits. Lots of good success stories/advice.
I'll let you know what happens

like a moth likes lighbulbs, i like your avatar. also why i hate it. j/k
All,
I just wanted to post my week (i count it as over since it is friday and the last day at the gym this week).
My workouts M/W/F were all exellent, on monday I used a weight and an incline bench to do some weighted situps before my usual ab workout. This really brought some pain for the rest of the week, and I am NOT complaining! It reminds me that I need to eat good and drink water every time I move.
I just got back into a routine, this being my first completed week. I know when I was interrupted from my last routine I weighed 244, and I was extremely happy about it. I havn't weighed myself in probably two weeks, probably from subconcious fear.
I tried to incorporate walking into this week, doing 2.5 miles one day, then 4 miles two days later. It is just something to do more than an effort to exercise, but it works out.
Today I tried a new technique on the bench press that I think is really going to change the way I work out, and especially on that exercise. If you havn't already, you should check it out: http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=17738 There is a very educational video that link will talk about, you should watch it if you are interested.
My Dieting was not so good this week. Pizza on wednesday, and take out food on wednesday night really impeded any progress I may have had this week. But due to my circumstances I am not going to be down about it too much. I bought a stack of tuna cans and will eating that for the in-between meals. (one can a day). I am going to prove to myself that getting enough protein is imperative for weight loss.
Thats pretty much all I have to offer right now- just checking in (for the first time) and wanted to see how everyone else is doing with their goals and give you an idea where I am at comparatively.

Yup, that's why I chose it. It's a constant reminder to me of what NOT to eat. It's also a carrot on a stick....when I get under 200, the reward is going to be a big 'ol burger and a couple of beers.... I'll get over it!
Today i am trying out a new toy -an inversion rack (http://www.bigfitness.com/inthinsy.html) -. I will do as many situps as I can and let you know
themuss Sat, July 16th, 2005, 10:49 PM Hey everybody, hows everyones week been?
As mentioned a few days ago, this week has been EXCELLENT for me, I've completed all my goals and never felt better, so now I'm about to reward myself with a big bowl of wholemeal pasta (if you can call that a reward) and recharge my batteries for the week. Here are my stats :
• 1.8KG LOSS
• 0.9 inches LOSS from waist
• 1.3 inches LOSS from hips
I hope everyone on here is doing well, if you have fallen off the wagon a bit, don't worry just keep assuring yourself that you can do this. Just have to believe in ourselves.
Well that will do me, I'll be back on later in the week, Adios all!

Nice progress there!!!
I havent had such a good week. Thursday night I drank waaaay too much and then friday I felt so hungover the whole day that I couldnt workout and I ate bad foods. Saturday night I went riding my motorcycle to miami (an hour from home), I didnt sleep and ended up coming home around 9am the next day, so I slept all day and only ate one meal. :(
I'm back on track today and I'm gonna try my best to not let anything mess up my week.
themuss Wed, July 20th, 2005, 05:41 AM Hi everybody, just thought I would post my thoughts in here because I'm in need of some motivation at the moment.
My motivation is starting to die down a little bit and its getting harder to get through the day. I'm not really enjoying my work and some workouts are a lot harder to get through than others. It's been 4 weeks and I still have a craving for junk food, I have to admit I've snacked a little here and there, but have only had 1 proper cheat meal sine I have started. I want to be able to get rid of these from my mind and want to be able to wake up every morning happy about my lifestyle and excited for the changes. I do think I'm making progress however I keep thinking about how far I have left to go. I will stop my transformation phase on December 31st and want to make sure 2005 goes out with a bang! However I really should be concentrating on one day at a time, rather than thinking how hard its going to be.
I guess I haven't really taken in the sacrifices its going to require to get a great body, and I guess I haven't really took the time to sit down and think. But I do know that this is what I want and nothing will stand in my way. It's just my motivation has been down a little...
Oh well I'm sure I'll get back on track.
Christi Fri, July 22nd, 2005, 12:06 AM Hi all. Sory I've been missing. I had a chance to move to a better house if I could move right away. Nothing like getting a 3 bd rm house and machine shop moved in a week and a half while being out of the house 11 hrs a day with work and my commute. Needless to say I didn't do so good with my plan this past week and a half. I am all moved in (at least everything is in the house) and ready to get back on track. I will update my progress as soon as I find my scale and tape measure. They're here somewhere..
themuss: Hey man you're doing great! I'm with you on the motivation issuue, but remember you've made a start and you're making progress and that's something to be proud of. Focus on these, what you've accomplished so far are good things and that's what you want to keep in mind. One day at a time is the way to go. I'm sure you'll be sending 2005 off with a bang. Just remember, you're closer to it today then you were before you started and each day just keeps getting you closer. You can and will do this!! :tucool:
Evil FX Coupe: There is a brand of Protein bar called, Protein (by a company called premier nutrition). There are a few different flavors and they are 280 cal., 4.5 g sat fat, 31 g protein and the net carbs range from 9 g to 15 g.
rancid99: Welcome to the group.
Buddha Sat, July 23rd, 2005, 01:29 PM I got the new pics up on my journal and SOFB profile, but there is an error coming up when trying to update my stats on SOFB.net so I will have to update that after work. I weighed in today at 362. Below are current and start measurements
weight 362 / 387.4
neck 19.5 / 20.5
waist 55 / 58
chest 54 / 57.5
some decent changes, and i hope to continue to do so week in and week out. i still have a ways to go, but am making good progress so far.
themuss Sun, July 24th, 2005, 07:00 AM Hi all,
Well a pretty uneventful week for me. I fell off the wagon again yesterday and as a result, failed all the goals I set for myself. Well this week its going to be torture for me, as I push and punish myself for being so lazy. I've armed myself with Hydroxycut and am looking to make some incredible gains in the time that I use it.
We all fall off the wagon at times, we just have to pick ourselves up and do better. We can all achieve our goals, and we will win the battle of the bulge. These are my stats for this week.
• 0.7kg GAIN
• 0.2 inch GAIN from waist
• 0.3 inch GAIN from hips
I'll be back later in the week with another update, in the meantime you can check out my journal in the journal section under "Fab2Flab Challenge Journal". See you all later.
jeremya Mon, July 25th, 2005, 10:59 AM Sorry gang for being MIA from the past week or so. I basically fell off the wagon 75% of last week. The week started off with me finding a decent size lump on the roof of my mouth. I searched the Internet and found most references to such lumps as being mouth cancer. So I got freaked out and scheduled a doctors appointment. The doctor said it was more than likely due to either my being sick a two weeks ago or some sort of trauma. I was relieved and now the lump is all but gone.
The rest of the week I just felt tired and unwell. Then I just started to get lazy and didn't feel like cooking so I had pizza for dinner, etc...
Anyway all I can do is pull myself up and get back on my program.
-- Jeremy
Evil Hx Coupe Mon, July 25th, 2005, 05:58 PM Damnit, this is turning out to be harder than I thought.... I always have such a hard time getting started.
Well back on the wagon today, gonna try to go at it again. I havent stopped working out but I just cant keep a clean diet for more than a few days... Gotta keep trying :tu:
Christi Tue, July 26th, 2005, 12:33 AM Well, I'm not staying on the wagon very well either. I've been back on the lazy side and that means eating out and that just doesn't work for me yet. I was back at the doc today. Looks like I over did it moving last week. I've had a couple of surgeries this spring and the last one was only 4 months ago and I guess I did too much heavy lifting. Sigh. Good news is that he did ok me doing the cardio and light lifting. That means no more using it for an excuse to be lazy.
Current stats:
217 / 214
37% bf / 36% bf
beops Wed, July 27th, 2005, 08:01 AM I thought I would chime in here as well. Stool!
These are the very bad days where everything hangs in the balance, it is to easy to leave the new things and go back to the old ways.
I feel like crap.
This is the only thing right now that is keeping my head in the game. I feel bad and I know it is because I have allowed old form to creap back in this last week.
I am under so much stress it is killing me.
Taking the time to shop and cook and prepare, (Notice I didn't say find the time). So many distractions.
Finding the will to get back on the straight and narrow will not be easy.
I'm not sure I can keep up the level of commitment it requires on the fitness and nutritional and mental fronts. There is just to much to do to make it all work right.
Sorry no encouragement here today.
jeremya Wed, July 27th, 2005, 11:39 AM Well I weighed myself this morning and I was happy to see that I was still at 282. Considering what my diet has been like and what my activity level has been. (some of that might be water weight) I am happy I am holding at that weight.
I am going to switch up my diet a little. I am going to keep my breakfast, snacks, and lunch pretty much the same (although I may try rotating some new lunch ideas in), but I am going to go back to some more "normal" food for dinner. 90-93% ground beef hamburgers, Chili, low fat hot dogs, etc. mixed in with better choices like chicken, fish, and whole wheat pasta. I am also going to allow myself to have some sweets from time to time with no guilt. I think I was too strict too fast. I need to ease myself into a stricter diet. I mean is it more important to eat clean or stick with a fairy healthy general diet. I am guessing at my weight eating clean isn't as important. When I plateau I will have to tighten things up a bit.
The other part of this is I need to get up and go to the gym. My problem is my sinuses have been making me feel poorly and I use this as a get out of the gym card.
I also tend to get "into" things and obsess over them till I start hating them. Usually happens with my hobbies. I got a telescope. I lived and breathed astronomy for a few months. Now I am kinda bored with it. I think I got the same way with my diet and workout.
Also my wife and I have decided to buy a sailboat (which is a dream of mine) next spring and I started to obsess over that splitting my focus. Now I realize I need to chill out or I will ruin the idea of a sailboat. I also realize I need to lose some weight and get in better shape if I am going to be spending every weekend next summer sailing and maintaining a sailboat.
Anyway I hope some of this helps some of you that are also discouraged. I think scaling back a little is going to help me stay focused.

Benny Wed, July 27th, 2005, 10:45 PM i'll try for this
height 169 cm
weight 223 pounds
goal: 190 pounds
in 2-3 months
Christi Fri, July 29th, 2005, 12:23 AM Well so far so good. I've gotten cardio in for the past 4 days and that's a start. Diet is still so so though.
jeremya -- I've also slacked off on obsessing over the diet as much. It was adding to much guilt when I couldn't get to the store or make the perfect balanced packed lunch and snacks. I've been eating pretty clean and am focusing on not cheating as much until I get it down to the one cheat meal a week.
Hey all. We can do this! We are allowed to have a difficult time and to have some struggles. Remember our plan was never for this to happen over night. Slow improvements are still improvements. :claplow:

Hey all how are we doing? Hows everybody's week been? Well my week has been pretty good, let me just state in my opinion that Hyroxycut is MAGIC! I know there are some people out there who doubt it, but I find it is really good to speed up the fat loss process, I've seen incredible gains this week. My diet hasen't been too bad, and has been pretty good, lot of lean meat and veggies, but some carbs as on Friday I was really feeling exhausted and I felt I needed it.
To those of you who have fallen off the wagon a bit, DONT GIVE UP! Keep putting in the hard yards and you will be victorous, even when the road ahead is tough, try to stay focused and know that your journey is noble, and you will prevail. Let's kick this fat once and for all guys/girls, I'm sick of it. I've had it with my chudge. Time to blow it right out of the water, so what you waiting for? DO IT NOW!
Below are weekly stats and pics.
• 2.2kg LOSS (due to Hydroxycut I believe)
• 1.2 inch LOSS of Waist
• 0.7 inch LOSS off Hips
Christi Sun, July 31st, 2005, 11:04 PM Well looks like you're doing great themuss! Keep it up.
My week was about normal for me. Working on staying motivated. Things are going way slower then I'd like but at least it's going. Here are the start and current pics. Left is start 6/25 and right is current 7/31. As you can see by the current moving house was literally a pain this go around.
jeremya Mon, August 1st, 2005, 09:26 AM Well I slacked off and I have put some weight back on, but this week I am resolved to get back in the fight. I did my grocery shopping yesterday so I have the tools.
I reserved a racquetball court for my brother-in-law and I to play tomorrow. As I write this I am sitting here with a glass of water instead of a diet soda which is a step in the right direction.
I weighed in at 286.5 this morning.
Check out this guys weight loss adventure: Here.
I will check back in a few days.

themuss Sat, August 6th, 2005, 08:08 PM Hi everyone, I've also fallen off the wagon this week, my training has been slack and my diet has been VERY permissive. Let's face it training hard and eating right are not easy to do, especially when theres a million other distractions around you. But we have to stay focused and complete our journey. Theres NO WAY I'm giving up on this one, no way in hell. Below are my stats for this week.
• 0.9kg GAIN
• 0.5 inch GAIN on waist
• 0.2 inch GAIN on hips
This week I'd better be prepared to suffer, because I'm in for it. I'll keep everyone posted. Congratulations to everyone who has achieved thier goals this week and then some. Hopefully your inspiration will rub off.
jeremya Mon, August 8th, 2005, 04:55 PM Hey gang!
Looks like we all need to rededicate ourselves to our goals. If there is something in particular that's tripping you up post it here and everyone can offer some suggestions and some support.
I guess my biggest issues are I have tons of excuses to no go to the gym and eating with my emotions not my common sense. I just need to get my head on straight and get back on course.
I got a phone call a week or so ago from Jeremy Likeness. I am guessing it's because I purchased some CD's from him (from the offer in John Stone's news post). He seems like a real nice guy. I wish I could afford his services. I am sure that he'd be very helpful.
Anyway I plan on posting more frequently and keeping up my journal which I have let lapse big time.

Christi Mon, August 8th, 2005, 10:39 PM jeremya -- I'm still here and have got my head back in the game. I joined a gym this weekend so hopefully the numbers will start to improve. We'll see in the next week or so. Do you go to the gym in the morning or after work? For me, switching my workouts to first thing in the morning helped otherwise I find all kinds of excuses not to do anything (worked too late, errands to run, etc.).
Is everyone else still here? It seems like we may have lost a few along the way. I know themuss and buddha have posted recently.
shrinkingfatguy Fri, August 12th, 2005, 12:56 PM Hi everyone,
I, like most of you it seems, have been challenged these last few weeks to keep with the program. It has not been easy....Summer can be hard. I have managed to eat fairly well, but getting to the gym has been difficult at best. I'm at 225.5 lbs, so I'm still moving down....just slowly. I like the re-dedication idea, so consider me back in. I'm off to the gym.....
Christi Mon, August 15th, 2005, 10:35 PM Update for the week. I was down to 212.5 today. It's going in the right direction again for a change. The pattern seems to be lowest on Monday and then goes up all week and down on the weekends. Not sure what's up with that since the weekend food is bad. Sigh. Maybe this week will be different. It's bound to sooner or later wth the workouts I've been doing. :bb:
michaelj Wed, August 17th, 2005, 02:23 AM Hi everyone.
It seems you're all doing somewhat better than me, but that's a good thing in general :tu:
I've been "off the wagon" for a few weeks now - it began with a huge exhaustion from trying too hard (and I think a nasty flu bug mixed in) which made me cut back and relax... which made me fall back into my old ways.
I had been doing so well up until that point, and I was really enjoying my workouts and all the great clean food I was eating.
It's strange how, although I know what's correct and I feel much better when I'm eating clean and working out, I still manage to let myself slack off and eat badly - is this a standard human trait ?? Am I just particularly lacking in willpower ?
I have been walking at lunchtime recently, which is great to help the stress at work, but I know I've become somewhat introvert again which is a sure sign that I need to pick myself up and get back in the game.
I'm really proud of you guys sticking at it - I keep checking back and reading how things are going (and yes, I need to start my journal again) as it keeps pointing me back in the right direction.
Anyway, don't give up !! I'm back down there at the moment, and it feels real bad - it's not somewhere you want to be back at. You're all doing so well, and I'll hopefully be back amongst you soon.
:claplow:
Michael.

michaelj -- Glad to see you back. I would not say that's it's just you lacking in willpower. If that was the case none of us would be here. It's great that your walking at work. That's one thing I just can't get motivated to do. If I do get out I can't seem to get back to work and get anything done.
themuss Sun, August 21st, 2005, 04:13 PM Hi everybody, hows the transformation coming along guys?
I've been going very well lately. I've been incredibly focused on my goals and I am really in the zone. Although sometimes I may miss a day of tracking my meals, my nutrition has been very good, with a lot of green fibourous vegetables, fruit and lean meat in there. I also do a lot of sports which helps keep me fit and constantly am immersing myself with the whole fitness scene.
Below are my stats for Week 9
• 0.6kg LOSS
• No change on Waist measurement
• 0.5 inch LOSS on Hips
MichaelJ - Glad to see you back my friend. And glad to know that you are ready to start again, sometimes it takes a couple of go's for the real transformation mindset to stick in. I was the Grand Master when it comes to falling back into old habits, I'd go out for a night on the grog with my buddies, and the next thing you know I'd be sitting down on my ass eating greasy fatty junk food as a post hangover meal. It was really poor, now my friends are very supportive and understand the sacrifices I have to make. You too can achieve your goals and you will be that much happier, Its an awesome feeling. Remember that there are good people here who want you to succeed. So dont feel like all is lost.
jeremya Tue, August 23rd, 2005, 09:20 AM Hey Gang,
I wish I could say things have been going great here over the past few weeks, but I haven't been too focused. However this week my wife and I are trying to eat better together, which should help my resolve. The meals we have planned aren't exactly clean, but they are much better then what we'd normally eat.
I am also weening myself off soda and caffine. I am a caffine junkie and it keeps me from getting good sleep. I stay up and eat then the next day I am too tired to make a good meal or go to the gym.
I am going to start back at the gym tonight with some light cardio for 15-20 mins. Just to get the blood flowing.

rancid999 Thu, August 25th, 2005, 10:01 AM Sorry i haven't posted in a while- i have been out and about and not able to post or check JSF. Now i'm back and will be sure to keep checking in.
It feels like everyone is on a roller coaster lately. I know how it feels and I am glad that i'm not currently there. I recently changed a few things in my diet and i have done well. I lost 10 lbs this past 30 days and i am really happy about it. I cut out caffiene and unnecessary carbs out of my diet and i have really lost weight. I wasnt able to go to the gym much, and i didn't really do any cardio the last 30 days or so, so i owe it all to diet. I read some reports about caffiene messing with your blood sugar and making you hungry, and keeping you from losing weight because your body will go into "store everything" mode. So i promptly cut that out (for a while). I also cut out a lot of useless carbs, i realized that i eat a more carbs than i really need to- pasta every day, bread on sandwiches, fries, mashed potatoes, its everywhere. So i went on a "low carb" plan and it really shows on the scale. I realized that our bodies weren't made (or at least mine) to consume the amount of carbs that society has evolved to eating. Most of the carbs we do eat are not natural, like bread or pasta- we have to mix ingredients together to make them, unlike fruits or grains we get naturally. And a lot of times carb rich foods are used to fill up a plate and make you feel full (a good feeling). well I dont need to load up on fries and mashed potatoes and breadings and pastas all the time so i cut back. Combining the no caffiene w/ sensible carbs really paid off. it just goes to show that you need to understand your individual body to really get the weight off. Anyways i hope everyone gets on the straight and narrow. I am able to go to the gym again, so i will be doing my 3 day/week weightlifting routine again. i am hoping to buck up and do some cardio to, even though i hate it.
ABOUT THE PICTURES. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I POSTED PICTURES- I NEED FEEDBACK FROM EVERYBODY BECAUSE SELF OPINIONS ARE BIASED! MY QUESTION IS: "DO I LOOK DIFFERENT/HOW DO I LOOK?" (BESIDES THE BEARD AND FARMER TAN) ANSWERS CAN BE MEAN AND BLUNT AND EVEN RUDE, I DONT CARE! PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO THEN I CAN KEEP DOING THE SAME OR ADJUST MY DIET/EXERCISE THANKS!
michaelj Fri, August 26th, 2005, 02:32 AM Hey Dave,
I think I can see some difference in your face (apart from the summer look), but I'm not much good at spotting changes in anyone... I know that I notice most changes initially around the cheek area though.
I would imagine that shape changes are slower on just diet, and once you get back into cardio and lifting you'll perhaps reap the rewards of the current loss from a visual point of view.
I was initially going to post pictures regularly (and I know the challenge suggested this), but I became disheartened at how little they could often show despite weight change. I've decided to only take them after about 40/50 lbs loss, and then have the comparison as I think that will show a much greater difference, and motivate me much more to go on.
It's good to see you noticing how your body reacts (or feels) about different foods. I was on a pretty high-carb (Vegan) diet, but on reading all the articles etc., decided I should get lots more protein. I hit the 40/40/20 scheme for a couple of weeks, but it made me completely tired and useless, and I fell pretty badly off the wagon. I'm now back on my Vegan diet, and already my body is detoxing again and I'm feeling great, wanting more water and much more energy - It just shows how everyone really does need to try out the different styles and find what's right for them.
Michael.
jeremya Fri, August 26th, 2005, 09:17 AM Dave,
It looks to me like you are losing some of your stomach fat and a little of the fat in the pectoral area. It is hard to see especially since the pictures aren't to scale to each other. If I get a chance later I will download your pics and see if I can't get your body to "match" in each one. Then I can make a morph that might show off more change.
This week has been good so far with my eating. I probably ate too much last night, but I guess I will call that my cheat meal of the week. Now that I am getting over my caffine withdrawls and settling back into the diet. I am going to head back to the gym next week for some weights and cardio. Hopefully get my energy levels back up.
Have a good weekend everybody.
Jeremy
themuss Sat, August 27th, 2005, 07:05 PM Hi everybody! Hows everyones week been?
Last night I fell to the temptation of alcohol. When I first started my fitness and transformation program, I said to myself I was going to go 6 months without alcohol. I think that was a rash and emotional decision, especially since the last time I got on the turps I acted like a goose! Logically it would of been better to say that once a month is ok, which is what I'm going to do from now on.
Anyway I made the decision last night to have a big one and I had a great time. Even though I felt really sick and had to leave halfway, it was a good night. So I've made that decision now and I'm not going to look back on it. Once a month is fine with me, any more than that, and its unacceptable.
My week has been good, I've been running a lot and feeling as though I'm really in a groove. One thing I have to know but, WHERE HAS EVERYONE GONE!? Has everyone given up? I certainly havent. I'm still going to reach my goals no matter how long it takes. Come on guys and girls lets fire up and put in the hard slog here.
Stats for the week are below:
• 0.4 kg LOSS
• No change on waist
• 0.5 inch GAIN on Hips
I'm probably going to stray from my diet today, as there is plenty of leftover junk food from a bbq here last night. Have a great day everyone.
Christi Tue, August 30th, 2005, 11:26 PM I'm still here. Just been so busy I haven't felt like spending time on the computer when I get home. All day at work is enough sometimes. :D
Let's see. Since my last update I've been hitting the gym for weights 3 days a week and cardio the other 2. Weekends have been camping and now bow season has started so it's going to take up my weekends for a while. Even with the workouts the darn scale doesn't want to seem to move. I'm meeting with the trainer again on Thursday so I will have him do a bf check again and see if I am making progress there. I think I am so not worried about the scale yet.
themuss Sun, September 4th, 2005, 05:17 AM Is anyone still around?
How are people going? Hopefully even if they are not updating this challenge section - everyone is still completing thier workouts and eating correctly.
I know how hard it is to stay on the right track - I'm 21, all my best pals who I've grown up with are all pissheads, and go out all the time and have a really great night, with many a stupid antic. It makes me feel I should be there with them, but I know I've got a job to do and I'm doing it. They support that. 1 night a month is when it's my time to act like a goose and get on the grog. No more than that. However its still hard to maintain focus on the weekends, especially sticking to your diet. I get plenty of exercise over the weekends, but I never want to eat chicken & steamed veggies when I come home after a massive day of active exercise. It's usually take away italian which includes creamy pasta. Not as bad as fried food but still not the best option.
Anyway I'm not giving up, not even thinking about it, and I will have to knuckle down soon and get to work. I really want to be cut up by Xmas and I know I can get there. Here are my stats for the week.
• 0.2kg GAIN
• No change on Waist measurement
• 0.5 inch LOSS on Hips
Have a great day, see you next week.
Buddha Sun, September 4th, 2005, 11:39 AM Well I was on vacation for a week, and started back to college last week, and have gotten messed way out of track. I am starting today with a little challenge to myself to make the next 4 weeks without deviating from my food plan, and eating cleaner, so I will be back hopefully better than ever, and also may or may not post much here, but always to my journal
Christi Thu, September 8th, 2005, 11:32 PM Ok. I'm up in weigh but down in BF% so I guess that's ok for now. I'm changing my weight workout from full body on m,w,f to upper on m,w,f and lower on t,th. Hopefully I can make more progress this way.
Food. Hmm.... not bad but not exactly the correct % of each type of food. I hate having to spend a bunch of time planning food. I need to figure out a simpler way.
Janelle Fri, September 9th, 2005, 01:45 AM I know I'm a couple months late... but It looks interesting I want in on this. Lately I've been having trouble sticking to my eating plans I weigh 215lbs I want to get down to 140lbs. So I have a ways to go but I'm determined and I really want to do this.
michaelj Tue, September 20th, 2005, 02:14 AM Hey guys (and gals)... How is everyone ?
Just a quick update as I start to get back in the swing of things.
I've been back on my clean vegan diet for about 3 weeks now, and since last week, I've been walking to and from work, which is just over 2 miles each way. Initially it would take me around 40-45 minutes for the 2 mile trip, but yesterday I had it down to 30 minutes, so it seems that my lapse didn't lose me too much fitness.
I'm also having another 30 minute walk at lunchtime, with a colleague, and in a few weeks time (to ensure I can keep the pace this time) I'm planning on introducing weights in the evenings three times a week.
Current stats have my weight at 120.1kg and bodyfat at 31% so I'm still a bit down on my start stats, but I've gone up in weight a bit since my last official weigh-in (around 8 weeks ago I think).
Anyway, hopefully everyone is still working to their goals. The summer is finishing up, so no more excuses
Keep the faith, and let us know where you're at.
Michael. :db:
Christi Thu, September 22nd, 2005, 11:51 PM Welcome Janelle.
Michaelj nice to see you back in the swing of things.
Hope everyone else is doing ok. I will be posting my update for end of next week since it will be the start of yet another month. I've been doing great on the workouts and alright on the food. We are trying a new food plan to see if I can get things to speed up a bit. I've been hitting the gym hard so I'm gaining in lean enough that the scale doesn't move. The bf% is down though so that's a good thing. Talk to you all next week if not sooner.
Remember. We can do this!!
rancid999 Tue, September 27th, 2005, 05:45 AM how's everybody doing? my goal date is coming up pretty soon and i havn't lost any weight recently, just holding steady... i have changed up my routine a little bit, to include running for 15-30 minutes on the treadmill or eliptical. so for the next 5 weeks i am going to try very very hard to get some more weight off by my goal date. that way i will at least be CLOSER since i'm not going to make it. i gotta tell ya, running is really hard when you havn't done it at all in 6 months! ok well hope everybody is doing good or at least trying hard- lets keep each other motivated. man i need my own theme music and cheerleading squad....
Buddha Sat, October 1st, 2005, 01:47 AM With the start of a new month, I am going to rededicate myself. I have let myself slack off for the last 6 weeks, and am feeling horrible. I have to get in the swing of eating better and getting back to the gym. Hopefully this challenge will help in doing so. I have noticed that while now going to school twice a week, working 5 days a week, and then football on the weekend, time isnt there like it was, and it makes it harder to workout and eat the way that I would like. I cant let that hinder getting myself in better shape and healthier though. I have to be accountable for myself and start doing things to better my health. I am going to start with new photos and measurements again tomorrow on my SOBF account and my journal, and will try to post here in this thread more often.
tkrueger Tue, October 4th, 2005, 10:20 AM i am new to this site and looking for a support group such as this i am currently 5'11 210 pounds looking to lose quite a bit more i have lost 10 LB in the last mounth and a half but am just now starting to lift as well so hope to be turning up the fat burn. i am also doing this with my wife and we are just as of last week starting to seriously track and record our results. found a good site called mybodycomp.com that allows you to track every possable body measurment. :tucool:
tkrueger Tue, October 4th, 2005, 10:22 AM on a side note how do you make a profile like some members have?
yoyoking Wed, October 5th, 2005, 11:51 PM Hello Everyone,
Well for me the username says it all, I think I've been up and down so many times... it's not even funny. But I saw a post with the motivational tag line that... Perseverence is failing 9 times and succeeding the 10th... well I pray that this is the 10th. I started on my weight loss and lifestyle change about 11 wks ago and I've lost just under 30 lbs. It's been a really hard and difficult challenge, but I'm confident that I will meet my goals by May 17th 2006. I would like to join with you guys, because we all seem to have similar goals, and it is great to have a group of people to give and receive encouragement. I will come on a post my stats, and participate as much as possible.
Hope we all achieve our goals!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yo YO King!!
Christi Sat, October 8th, 2005, 12:19 PM Welcome to the grop tkrueger and yoyoking.
tkrueger -- Not sure what you mean by profile. If you use the USER C/P button at the top of this page it will allow you to add profle information. If you mean the links some of us have that take you to a daily log then that you do that by starting a thread under the online fitnes journal. Does that answer your question?
It's a new month. Looking forward to hear how everyone is doing. I'll be getting new pics and stats posted in a day or two. Hope everyone is doing ok.
jeremya Mon, October 17th, 2005, 12:07 PM I am glad to see you guys are still on track! I plan on reading all the posts I have missed and get caught up on who's in the challenge.
I apologize for dropping out, but the laziness bug bit me. I guess. Anyway I have new motivation, a 25.5 foot sailboat, that is going to take more energy to sail and maintain than I have right now.
Anyway, I am going to put a eating & exercise plan together this week. I will take all my measurements this weekend and be on program starting monday (10/24).

Christi Wed, October 26th, 2005, 09:32 PM Hey Jeremya. Nice to see you back!
