View Full Version : Fat Loss vs Muscle Loss Adam and Jess Sun, June 12th, 2005, 06:58 AM So I'm on a 40/40/20 diet with regular exercising and cardio 6 days a week for cutting. How is it possible to tell whether your cutting off fat or losing muscle..? Adam Andrew Sun, June 12th, 2005, 09:26 AM I *think* you need to re-test body fat and do some simple math. LenzInFx Sun, June 12th, 2005, 12:42 PM It's not quite scientificly accurate where we are talking about percentages, but I would personally just judge a significant amount of muscle loss by either a stall in my weightlifting routine or an actual decrease in the amount lifted. I do three fullbody workouts throughout the week of HIT so I can pretty much tell when something is wrong. If you are noticing a decrease in your lifts you could always cut back a bit on your cardio. Personally I was doing 6 cardio workouts a week before and cut out cardio to three times a week and noticed a real improvement in my lifts. Or if you really want to keep at 6 days of cardio a week just make sure you space them out at least 6+ hours apart. Ohh also when I cut back to only cardio three times a week the weight for me still came off the same. Tweak things around a bit and see what works best for you. Good luck! :tu: Someone please chime in if they have a better idea, or I am wrong... Andrew Sun, June 12th, 2005, 12:47 PM Yeah, I guess if you can lift as much as you could before, then it's not muscle loss, or at least not significant muscle loss. I don't think there's any foolproof method.. |
