i have heard good things about this device. though not as accurate as calipers...its said to be the most accurate digital one. regardless it gives you a consisntant general idea.

Devery Thu, June 9th, 2005, 11:25 PM I own that exact model and really like it...it gives me consistant readings. I purchased mine online...I forget the company, but I just searched around and found it for around $40.
krosspyder Fri, June 10th, 2005, 03:25 AM awsome! do you also get your BF% checked with calipers? I wonder how much its off by... i know its consistent... thats what im looking for... but id also like to know how much it can be off by. What time of the day do you take your readings? Do you do it every week or 2 weeks?
featherz Fri, June 10th, 2005, 10:30 AM My omron reads me 2-3% high, but if you use the formula for women commonly bandied around on the boards (take a female reading, then a male reading, subtract F-M, then add one) it's about right.
Devery Fri, June 10th, 2005, 12:22 PM I use mine at least once a week. My BF% averages 15-16% consistantly. The manual tells you when and when not to use, i.e., immediately after showering (not), ect. I find my BF% to be lowest in the morning upon waking and highest in the afternoon/evenings. No matter if it reads a percent or two high or low compared to calipers (which I've not used before), it gives me a measurement to go by and also helps me see how my body reacts to changes I make to my diet/workout/ect. I find it to be another useful tool to have in my toolbox, just like the scale in my bathroom. Even if my scale isn't perfectly accurate, it gives me an idea of where I'm at where I'm headed.
fsixed Fri, June 10th, 2005, 03:02 PM I own this exact model as well. It works well but mine reads about 1% lower compared to caliper testing at my gym.
krosspyder Fri, June 10th, 2005, 04:05 PM cool! i just ordered mine for 37 bucks. im excited about also being able to measure my body fat as opposed to just my general wieght. im taking creatine now so this is going to rest my mind about the wieght i may be putting on due to water or lean mass.
so generally do you all see a 1-2% difference in body fat every week or two weeks? on the wieght scale i was loosing about 5 pounds every month... or 1 to 2 pounds every week.
fsixed Fri, June 10th, 2005, 09:59 PM Omron claims these are extremely accurate with a low margine of error. I think with any device of this nature, the key is following the directions and using everytime under similar conditions. Its definately a good tool to get a general idea of where you stand.
