View Full Version : How do you stop your cravings?
Benjammin Wed, June 8th, 2005, 08:34 PM Im sure we all have them. I know I used to eat like crap before I started lifting/running/eating right. But sometimes, those cravings come back, like I want to eat the way I used to, but I know its not good for me. So, I have come up with a few tricks that help me steer clear of the chocolate, chips, pop, candy etc..
Brushing my teeth
Putting on Crest White Strips (of course this only works for a 7 day period, then Im screwed until I need to use them again)
Jumping Rope
Go to Sleep
Drink as much water as I can so that Im not hungry anymore.
What about you guys? What do you do to avoid those days when you just want to eat everything in sight?

go read a book, do some work, pick up a hobby. When the mind is bored, you normally eat to fill in the time.

i DO eat everything in sight.
but the catch is - i only keep good foods in my house/at work.
plus i'm bulking, and my daily cardio burns 1800 calories alone.
but when i did have to watch what i ate:
+ pure willpower turned routine
+ alot of sugar free gum
+ brushing my teeth as if i was OCD
+ water never seemed to help
+ oatmeal
+ Amphetamine
...mostly the willpower thing.
if you want it bad enough, you will never cheat on your diet.
it's very hard to want it bad enough though.
you'll always find yourself compromising with yourself, and that's when you need to slap yourself.
philph Wed, June 8th, 2005, 09:33 PM I used to have terrible cravings, just like many people.
The main reason for not having given in to them is discipline. I measure out and log my food in such excruciating detail that cheating is simply way over the horizon.

Skoorb Thu, June 9th, 2005, 10:30 AM I eat most of my food during the first half of the day, because then my hunger pains kick in later on, and later on I'm at home where I find them easier to deal with than at work (where I'm more bored), and also my metabolism seems more aggressive early in the day. Another thing is that I have no problem going to sleep on a close-to-empty stomach, so going to sleep, as you mentioned, does help.
Also caffeine drinks like coffee/soda help.
