Well, first of all, hello I'm new here...

My first question concerns somatotypes... I know they're useful just as a guideline but I also know that fitness is not a "one fits all" kind of thing, so I guess it's better to know...

Well, I personally don't know what kind of body I have, all I know is that I'm definitely NOT an ectomorph...
Probably not a mesomorph, but I don't think I'm an endomorph... I guess I'm an endo-mesomorph or something like that, because I have medium joints, I build muscle quite fast, also seem to lose fat a little faster than expected, but I've always been a bit flabby, not overweight (overweight for about just 3 years and counting), also I've tapering limbs. I'm hourglass shaped (very very hourglass shaped), and even though I have some fat around my waist (not a really big belly, a bit bulgy and round but not massive), I tend to store fat evenly (but, as any woman, my lower body is a bit more prominent); I'm often told I look a lot thinner than what I actually weigh (and, no, it ain't all muscle). Speaking of muscle, it's been a looooong time (more than 6 months) since I last trained with weights, but I still feel something rock-hard underneath the flab (it got quite hard after about 2 weeks of training). So I guess I'm able to keep my muscle mass. But I need to lose about 24-28 lbs of fat!. Well, I've been talking too much now, on with the questions...

1) Is it possible for a mesomorph to be fat?
2) Is it possible for an endomorph to be lean?
3) How can I speed up my metabolism (to increase my caloric intake) without gaining much weight? (I realized I've been eating way less calories than needed for manteinance, for well, years...possibly one of the reasons I'm overweight)

Well, that's it, thanks for reading...
Hopefully you're not too confused... and if you are, you know just how I feel... Fitness is quite overwhelming for me, but I just want to do things right...

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Start training with weights again! Your metabolic rate will take off! 3 days per week. Include 2 days of HIIT cardio during the week, about 12-15 minutes a session and you'll get lean and mean.

Fitness can be overwhelming if you allow it to be without surveying the situation at hand. Sometimes it takes another's observation to make the simple changes that will get you back on track. Your's was an easy fix. With an increase in clean calories, you will experience even better results with lean muscle, which in turn, will burn more fat. It also appears that you pocess superior genetics.... A definite plus.
