Of starting your cutting phase and be given a huge bucket of candy and snacks?

Has something like this ever happened to anyone else?

Yep, yours truly starting cutting last Monday (going very, very well thanks to the sound advice on this board) and today was presented with the award, letter of congrats and about a gazillion empty calories for making employee of the month. Fortunately my coworkers are all junk food junkies and will consume the snackies (that I immediately placed in the break room) in a small amount of time.

The timing just boggles the mind. Am I tempted? Frell (http://www.farscape.com/) yeah I am! Will I blow my eating? Not if I can help it!!! Everyone say this with me, “I will not blow my diet. It is not worth it”, take a deep breath and repeat as needed. :db:
(Okay it helps that I have been carrying all my own food for the day and have something to snack on that won't mess up my plan).

Now I get to prove just how much will (or in this case) won’t power I have.

Candy anyone? :p

My usual modus operandi in the face of things like that is to "share" with everyone. I put whatever junkfood I have up in the break room here in the office and send a blanket email to everyone saying "help yourself". Whatever I put up there, it's gone in ... two hours, max.

And no will power needed, either, 'cause you don't ever have to see it, smell it, have it near you or take it home.

I would sue them for harassment. Especially if they knew you started dieting....

.. or not. Apparently you can sue anyone over anything in the US.

Within about 10 days of me weighing in at 246 at the Dr.'s office, an attorney who does some work for us sent something called Kings' Cake, which is a Mardi Gras tradition. He's a great guy, and wanted to do something fun for us.

It immediately made its way to our small cafeteria, and I sent an email around advertising its presence. It was gone within 45 minutes, and I got to keep the beads that come with it - which was great for my 18 month old daughter.

My neighbor at work keeps a big (BIG) jar of Hershey's miniatures on her desk at work. She has an unusual abilty to process carbs (she's actually in some medical journal articles), and so her office looks like the "bad" aisle in the market. One of my first moves was to explain to her that my avoiding her office wasn't personal, but nutritional. I do have to say that once you get used to avoiding the temptation, it's not hard to say "no thanks".

But the first month was a bear.

My family has a big basket full of those snack sized candy bars in the refridgerator. Talk about struggling with temptation.
