OceanGirl Sat, June 4th, 2005, 01:12 AM Hi everyone!
I found this forum days ago and found it very interesting & motivating.
I really want to change my lifestyle and get lean, I always wanted to be lean and have my body defined.
I'm currently 19 years old, my height is: 5'3" and my weight is: 132 lbs.
but I have a belly stomach, love handles and belly arms (lol). I have problems with changing my lifestyle because I live with my Dad and he's the type of person who loves to eat lots and and everything.
Well, since 1st of June I decided to change my eating habits, I try to eat 5 times a day healthy food. Now I need an exercises/training routine but I don't have special equipments, btw I don't have money to buy supplement and all that stuff.
And sometimes because of this I lose my motivation. I want to take this new lifestyle seriously but I also undestand that to live this lifestyle I need to have money and lots of motivation.
What do you all recommend me to do?
I would love to receive advice from all you experienced.
Thanks! :d_smile:
jRS Sun, June 5th, 2005, 02:01 PM Hi! Welcome!
I know what you mean. At my parents' house everything is fried in butter and everything in the fridge is 20% fat +. All very tasty foods... Unfortunately.
I doesn't cost a cent to walk outside. And a pair of dumb bells would do the trick for a while. Also excercises useing your own body weight. There are many price levels on gyms, shop around.
Supplements are extras, focus on the basics. Eat enough lean meat for protein, vegetables for vitamins and minerals and healthy carbs for energy. Have you seen the BFL-winners? Most of them have done it without any supplements at all.
The fat on your stomach will probably come right off when you've stuck to your new eating habits for a while. But if you want to be defined, you need to hit the weights. A gym memeber ship is an investment for life. Maybe your dad will chip in?
Motivation is important and if it's sinking you'll probably find it on here. You know you can do it!
PhillyGirl Sun, June 5th, 2005, 02:27 PM Like the other post, walking immediately came to mind for cardio. Don't have the money for weights, use cans or something with weight. For example, a 26.5 oz can of spaghetti sauce weighs amost two pounds. A 32oz mayo jar weighs 2lbs (plastic), a little more for glass jar. This way, when you do buy some weights you can go for 5lbs or more. My 3lbs are collecting dust and weren't worth the purchase. Exercise bands are also inexpensive.
Here are some sites that you can use to get an idea of of formulating a basic plan. :gl:

Wilderbeast Sun, June 5th, 2005, 04:06 PM Following on from the tin cans idea,
Cordial bottles !!! Find someone that buys the big cordial bottles. 4 litre ones are going to come out at 9lb when full of water. Alot of them are designed with really confortable handles. You can add water as your strength increases and make different weights up. I wouldnt be surprised if you could make one with double that using wet sand or gravel.
Skipping is a great cardio workout that needs very little equipment. My traveling bags are never too full for a piece of rope.
As said previously you can make very good progress using body weight exercises. Sisy Squats, Pushups, Situps, Chair Dips, Lunges .......
Good Luck

ryswife Mon, June 27th, 2005, 08:15 AM I have a couple suggestions. One, I would really focus on eating right because butts and bellies are made in the kitchen. Read Marcus's sticky on the fat loss page. Two, I would buy a couple female fitness magazines that have some good at home excersises. I have some great one that are whole body workouts. Three, for like 12.99 you can get a pilates video with some "equiptment" at a place like TJ Maxx. Then you just have to find a friend to either do it with you or hold you accountable. I could never eat right or work out consistenly if I didn't have a partner. Anyway, hope that helps. I am sure you can do this!
