I have some chest hair, and I like the bare look as I start to get more cut. What do you all use to keep yourselves hair free? Ive tried Nair before and I'll never go back. Shavin gives me razor burn..... what do you all recommend?

Hey Go,
I'm not sure if this is in the right section, I think John might move it, but i'll post a reply anyway.
The first time i got rid of my chest hair I shaved. I first used some hair clippers to take the hair as short as possible. then I shaved with a sensitive shave Gel and a brand new blade. I then used a moisturising shaving balm. I'm happy to say that I didnt get the slightest bit of breakout/rash.
I decided i didnt want to be shaving every few days for ever, so now I've gone hardcore, lol. I wax my own chest and Upper arms (weird inbred brittish hair growth patches, lol, dont ask).
I use a standard salon wax that you can heat in the microwave. It's like £5 ($7-8) per pot and one pot will typically do your chest twice.
The cotton strips are extreemly cheap, as are the wooden spatulas. The first time was very messy and hurt like hell but was kinda fun (weird brittish sense of fun, don't ask, lol). Second time had less mess and less pain.
I'm expecting the third time to follow the same trend.
Also, my chest did break out with spots after waxing. It took about 10 days to heal properly using an anti-bacterial cleanser for the first few days and a sensitive moisturiser after that. From what i read, breakout with spots is quite normal.
I would recommend you give waxing a try. It'll only cost like $15 for a go at home.

Greeno.

P.s. I have a salon wax my back every 5-6 weeks, doesnt take long or cost much, and surprisingly enough, they seem to do a better job than i do, lol.

...so that avatar of yours is an actual photo? :spaz:

anyway, I'm not enough man to go through a waxing session. I used to shave my chest, and I never had eny probs with it. Just make sure you shave with the growth, not against it and for God's sake, use a good foam/gel and a good razor with a fresh blade(typically, replace it one a week or every second week depending on how often you shave). Shaving against the growth will definitely give you a razor burn...

I have recently started shaving my chest. I do get some razor burn from gonig against the growth. However, if I only shave with the growth, it doesn't even come close to leaving it smooth. I'm considering going with a waxing method, but red spots taking 10 days to heal kind of intimidates me.

Good thread, Gobadgrs.

I've tried hair clippers to trim the hair on my chest and all but shave it off my back. I find that if I do this it isn't so stubbly when it grows back compared to using a razor as it's just cut really short instead of shaved.

Has anyone tried one of those epilators on body hair? They're sold for women's leg hair removal and pull the hair out in the same way as waxing. They look like an electric razor but have little discs that grab the hair and pull it out. Sounds quite torturous, but so is waxing :spaz:
