^^^No, that isn't LeftNut having a giggle-fit,^^^
It is me gasping for air after having my body fat tested in the dunk tank.
Today, I had my first body fat tests administered by someone other than myself. I went to the exercise physiology lab at the local college and had caliper and dunk tests. I was hoping the caliper test would be a 7-site test, but it was only 3. Oh well. But the results were very interesting anyway.
I also measured my body fat with my own three methods this morning.
Here is the challenge
Post your results from at least two different testing methods, along with a recent pic that shows us what that body fat percentage looks like. At least one of those tests must be performed by a 'professional' at a training facility, lab, etc. The more dissimilar the testing methods, the better (hydrostatic weighing and calipers, for example). The tests must be performed within one week of each other.
Extra points for anyone who can provide 3 or more measurement types for comparison.
This isn't a pissing match. We're all working towards our own goals here, no one has reason to be ashamed.
If enough people post results, I think it will be very interesting to see comparisons of the different methods.
Here's mine:
Date: June 2, 2005
Weight: 162
Height: 69 inches
Dunk tank (lab)............................................. . 9.6
3-site skinfold (lab).......................................... 4.6 (um....)
3-site skinfold (self, Fattrack II Digital Calipers)..... 8.2
Tanita scale (self)............................................ 8.4
1-site (self, Accumeasure Caliper)....................... 6.5 (not bloody likely)
Average (lab)........7.1
Average (self).......7.7
Average (all).........7.5
I had a mybodycomp account set up, but it appears to be whacked at the moment. If I remember correctly, it was about 8%.
In my opinion, I don't look like 8%. However, I do have reason to believe that the dunk test measured a little high. I am hesitant to admit it, but it was actually very difficult for me to stay under for very long after expelling all of the air from my lungs. This affected how still the water was, messing up the water displacement measurements slightly.
