Yesterday I worked out so hard on the treadmill that I have blisters on the back of my feet the size of golf balls because my shoes were too big. It hurt so bad today not only could I not where shoes, but I could not do cardio. I was so pissed. I even tried putting on my shoes and walking around; that by the time I took the shoes off I had elevate my feet for like an hour. The sad part is that I really wanted to work out. They better be better by tomorrow.

Today sucked. Got up and was really tired. Started jogging but only went for around 25 minutes. I was planning to skip sundays and rest but this week I won't to make up for the loss.

Today is my cheat day so I ate my normal breakfast but got a quesadilla for lunch from a place near work. And for Dinner I am going to get a Three Fajita Chicken Burrito from La Salsa. I also had 2 cokes. :eat:

Tomorrow and Sunday is gonna be a challenge. Tough to eat clean on the weekends but I'll tough it out.

Yesterday was a long and wearing day, and by the time I finished all planned arrangements I had no strength to stand, let alone go to a gym. :d_frown: The diet was also poor, due to a tough schedule. Today is Saturday - relaxing day, but I'll try to go to a gym for a run on the threadmill to compensate for yesterday's lack of exercise.

No exercise yesterday...
(I really need to get my car fixed, I didn't sign in to that gym for nothing..)

Well, that's not an excuse, today I'ma exercise, even if hell freezes over!

Heh, similar thing happened to me last week. I had to use the bathroom in the middle of my morning cardio. I stopped running I just couldn't take it anymore. There's nothing worse than doing cardio when you have to use the bathroom.

Sorry to hear about the whole bowel think Jess (LOL). I just got back from a killer workout and I feel great. You no those blisters I had. The ones you said not to worry about. They had gotten so bad that same day that last night was the first time I was even able to wear shoes and thats only because I was constantly cleaning them and putting Neosporin on them. However I made up for that today. I ran on the treadmill, rode the bike, and then topped it off with a little elliptical pleasure. After that, I did a killer ab workout, Sylvester Stallone style. How is everything going today with you? How is Jess doing ? I hope she is representing for the girls. HOW IS EVERYONE ELSE OUT THERE DOING??????????????????????????????

See you all tomorrow. I am on the ball now. I will be posting everyday.

Ate well today, and did morning cardio. I really need to start finding new foods to eat. When I eat clean i pretty much eat the same exact things (outside of cheat days). The last few weeks I've had the same exact meals the same exact time of day. I don't mind it too much and it's not like I'm going to break but It'd be nice to find something new.

I weighed myself last Saturday and it read 177.6 lbs then I weighed myself today and it read 182.22. Really depressing. But I think it had a lot to do with water weight and time of day. It still sucks though. Anyone else here use a tanita? How accurate is their body fat percentage measurements?

I opened up a checking account with citibank through their website so I could get a free ipod shuffle. Can't wait till I get it. I think I might have to wait a few weeks but I don't mind. It'll really help while jogging.

I finally had a (leg) work out yesterday, it wasn't as difficult as I hoped, I'll add 1 set to each exercise frm now on. The eating wasn't very clean though... :o

Today is cardio day, I'll see how that goes. :)

I have slacked in checking this forum or posting my details

It is almost embarassing to put this out here on the net, but it needs to be done. I am 24, and currently 386 lbs. I figure I need to lose almost 200 lbs to because a healthier 200 or so lbs. I am 5' 10" tall. Right now I am going to lift weights monday wednesday friday, and do some cardio on the elliptical tuesday thursday saturday. I am going to try and do aroudn 20 minutes on the elliptical right now and work my way up to more slowly.

Yesterday I made it to the gym before work and got some chest and tricep weight training in. Today is a cardio day, and tomorrow will be back and biceps. Fridays i plan on doing legs and shoulders and taking Sunday off.

Today, I was going to go to the gym and get on the elliptical, and just as I started, a friend wanted to play some tennis so I joined him. Instead of 20 minutes on the elliptical, I went and played tennis for 40 minutes. Only bad thing about it is that my knee is now killing me. I have had problems with it before, and figure it is either arthritis (i tore a ligament in my knee in HS, so it could be due to that) or some kind of cartilage problem. Either way, I have no insurance, so fixing it really isnt an option right now.

I am going to try to post daily, more than likely after work around midnight since that is when I get home from work, and I go to the gym before work.

Good luck to everyone.

FYI.. Jess wasnt the one with the bowel trouble, hehehe

We've both been doing well and I'm very excited about jess's determination, it really motivates me as well! We've both been doing really well but not only for our own health, but we are both going to be in a wedding in February (my old roomate and her old roomate sophomore year in college :tu: )

Not to mention, we've recently been engaged so I want my buddy to take some engagement photos of us sometime around Christmas, so yeah! But overall, we're both doing well, eating small meals with an occassional spike during dinner but overall real well!

Don't be embarassed Buddha. If you need any help with workouts or food intake I am a certified Personal trainer with a degree in Kinesiology. I am currently heavier than I have ever been. No one can guess within 40 lbs of what I weigh because I hold weight well. I am a thick 220 (5 ft 10) and fighting ever minute of it. I just got back from the gym. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill 30 minutes on the bike and 25 minutes on the elliptical. My diet has been great for the last couple of days and I am going to beat the fat monster head on. No more bull shitting. I know it is not safe to lose weight quick but I have done it before and my body has responded with flying colors. I have 60-65 lbs to lose and will have it gone before November. You mark my words. I refuse to live like this anymore. Being uncomfortable in everything I wear and being uncomfortable in social situations. I have my pictures of when I was in perfect shape and look at them and also my goals everyday. Sometimes 2 or 3 times. You have to keep those goals right in front of you so you do not get off track. It is amazing how much being over-weight can affect your everyday life in such a dramatic way; even when people don't think your overweight. So, I am off to eat my last meal of the day and curl up beside a good book and get ready to do it all tomorrow. :gl:

EVERYONE KEEP US UPDATED AND MOTIVATED KEEP FIGHTING

Did morning cardio again (5.3mph, 50 minutes). I don't know how well running on treadmill translates to running outdoors. I followed my meal plans also. (1-eggs, oatmeal, 2-detour bar, 3-tuna, banana,4-chicken,pinto beans,5-big bowl of salad).

I made a bet with one of my co-workers. We bet who could lose twenty pounds the quickest. I don't plan on doing anything drastic to lose weight I'll continue eating at ~1700 calories a day, doing fasted cardio every morning. But, beginning Sunday I will start lifting weights again. I'm pretty sure my co-worker will end up starving himself though.

I am doing a 1200 cal diet. Cardio for first 2-3 wks only. No weights. Only abs. I am usually eating high fiber cereal for breakfast (Kashi Go Lean Crunch or Uncle Sams Toasted Whole Grain wheat flakes with flaxseed). I eat Lots of yogurt and fresh fruit for snacks and plenty of beans and veggies for lunch and dinner. Sometimes lunch is a Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine. I absolutely love beans. 2-3 nights a week I may eat this fat free, no sugar added, frozen yougurt tht is made by Kemps. It is actually very good and it satisfies my sweet tooth.

With us its a minimum of 40 mins cardio. Its a bit difficult to throw in weights but its gotta be done and I need to stop making excuses. Im not counting calories more or less avoiding fat and sugar filled snacks and excessive eating. This is what my meal usually consists of.

Meal 1 - Small bowl of cereal w/ skim milk and black coffee (1 cup only)
Meal 2 - Protein shake (1 med banana, water, protein powder, 1 tblsp natural peanut butter)
Meal 3 - Turkey sandwich, whole wheat bread, FF mayo, low fat cheese
Meal 4 - Low fat cheese and low fat wheat crackers
Meal 5 - Chicken sandwich (skinless, boneless) turkey bacon, tomato, low fat cheese.
Meal 6 - FF cottage cheese and FF yogurt

Thats pretty much it. So its not too bad but maybe if I count I'll get a better feel for how much im consuming. Jess eats a bit less and the portions are smaller so we'll see.

going to bed, noon cardio session!

Yesterday was cardio day - 20 minutes on the threadmill (I suck in running, but I did the best I could) and 20 minutes on the elliptical - now me legs are killing me!

But I exceeded my calloric intake by 200~300 callories - that sucks! I think I need to decrease the callories I consume anyway, 1500 is too much I guess... Guess I'll be experimanting.

On other note, we're going to a wedding today, I was thinking to eat as less as possible to keep the stomach empty (easier to suck in :D ). Maybe I'll post some pics later :d_tongue:

OK, today is upper body day. I'm hitting the gym, cya!

Back from the gym. Today was upper body exercise, it was so-so because I'm not used to the devices. But my arms feel tired enough. Since I'm more focused on fat loss I'm thinking of adding some cardio to lifting days.
I'll have to experiment with that.

the last two days were so-so since it is my "weekend". I work Friday-Tuesday, so Wednesday and Thursday are my free days.

Wednesday went like this. I got up and went golfing. Golfed 9 holes with a few friends. Went to the gym for a quick back and bi workout (wish I had hit it a little longer and harder as I don't feel I got an adequate workout, but there is always next week). After the gym, I came home and had to cut the grass. Then I decided to wash my car, and headed out to the Pirates-Orioles game to watch my Pirates decimate the Orioles. I say my Pirates since they are close, but I am not a huge baseball fan, and the Pirates don't have a lot to cheer about.

Today, I went golfing again in the morning, and then had some things to do around the house. I was sitting around and debating on gonig to the gym (knowing that I should) for my cardio session, and a friend called, and wanted to know if I wanted to play tennis again. I decided tennis, while not the continuous activity the elliptical gives, was just as good as a 20-30 minute cardio session would have been. We played tennis for about 2 hours and my shirt was soaked :) The only bad thing to happen today was I ate a couple of donuts, but I guess there is a little slippage allowed occasionally. I just have to not let it happen very often, and fight the urges for them.

All in all, I feel that through the first few days, I am doing ok. Could be doing a lot worse. Tomorrow will be a leg and shoulder lifting day, and my "Monday" at work.

Hi guys!!!!! Back from the gym. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill, 25 on the bike and 30 minutes on the Elliptical. I ate a bowl of Kashi cereal this morning with skim milk, orange for a snack, Lean Cuisine for Lunch and Beans, fat free cheese and yogurt for dinner. I felt pretty tired during the beginning of my cardio session and figured it is because I have been eating so few cals. However, I pushed through it and will load up on healthy stuff tomorrow before my body goes into starvation mode. It works 3 days on and 1 day off. I tell you guys this diet works miracles. I am going to do this. I refuse to fail and thank you guys so much for all of your motivation. I hope I am helping also.

Caramel Peanut Detour bars taste really good. I eat like one a day (i know I should eat more whole foods but eating at work is a pain and I'd rather have something i can eat on the go). They do have have like 12 grams of sugar and 10 grams of fat. But if you don't mind that they have some fiber in them and 30 grams of protein.

Did fasted Morning cardio again (5.4 mph, 50 minutes). I really can't wait till I am able to do 6.5 for 50 minutes. Right now my heart rate is like 27 beats every 10 seconds (I measure right after my run is over). I'd like to stay at the heart rate but keep improving my stamina etc.

Meals went as planned. I'm going to stop eating the tuna though and eat more fruit and veggies to put my macros at 50 carbs, 20 fat, 30 protein. Hopefully it works out. I've been feeling really tired lately and hopefully upping the carbs will help.

The upcoming weekend is gonna be tough. I don't wanna lose my bet so I'm gonna try and buckle down and only have one cheat meal a day. And even with that meal I won't go over 1700 calories for the day. Outside of that it's gonna be completely healthy. Though that detour bar might not be the healthiest thing made. Okay so outside of the detour bar and one cheat meal per week Im going to eat completely clean.

Well, I'm back form the gym. I did exercises for all possible and impossible leg muscles, and after the training I did 20 minutes on the elliptical. The plan was to hit the threadmill afterwards... LIKE THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!!! By the time I finished with the elliptical I was limp and lifeless. That ment I gave 100% so I was pretty happy. On the way home I closed my car's windows, turned off the airconditioning and enjoyed some sauna while driving home! :D

Edit: I made up for all the healthy eating/exercising today by having an oily and unhealthy meal at my sister. White rice spiced with refined oil... EEK!!! I feel like my pores are larger already! Bleh!
Good thing they had salmon! Though I ate perhaps 3 times than the portion I'm supposed to eat, GRRRRR!

Oh well, time to wash it all down with some beautiful, fresh, healthy grapes. :eat:

I'm down for the weekly weighin thing. I always weigh myself when I first get up also. I get up and head to the bathroom to the scale. Then I go about doing what needs to be done for the day.

Today is a leg day for me and before work, I am planning on getting some squats, leg extensions, leg curls, calf raises, and maybe some leg presses done. My legs used to be my strongest muscles when I played football (I squatted 525 lbs) in a weightlifting competition in high school. Would like to get back there, because I know they are a lot weaker now. With time I will.

I figure that I am on the road to at least a 10-14 month weight loss mission before I can even think about serious bulking. So what I am lifting right now is more of a maintenence lifts. Something to help keep, and maybe built a little, muscle, and just make sure that I dont lose it. Will weighin tomorrow and left everyone know how I am doing so far.

Just got back from the gym. I did 30 mins on the treadmill, 35 on the elliptical, and topped it off with 20 more minutes on the treadmill. Diet is going great. I am not even craving a cheat meal. I planned on taking off Sunday but I am on a roll and think I am gonna go ahead and go on my off day anyways. How is everyone elses diet going? I am going to weigh in tomorrow. I have been carrying my skinny picture everywheres and have my skinny clothes hanging up in my room so I see them all the time. The motivation for me is going into overload and I am loving every minute of it. I guess I have been able to start off with such a bang because of my youth and I need to stop taking it for granted. I am actually in better shape than I thought. Oh yeah, who makes those detour bars?

The Detour bars are by Designer Whey. You can go to www.detourbar.com to find out more about them. They got other bars to with sugar alcohols instead of regular sugar. I can't stand sugar alcohols though, it acts like a laxative for me, so I just go with the regular bar and let it fit into my macros.

Adam, that avatar is the funniest one I've seen in these forums. Or any forums for that matter.

Did morning cardio again (5.4mph, 50 minutes). My meals were bad today though. I was only gonna have one cheat meal and a small one at that but it got pretty out of control. If I can get through the rest of the weekend with no cheats I'll be happy.

Today was rest day. Well, the initial plan was to do some cardio today aswell but i decided that i needed a little rest.

Otherwise my diet was healthy but calloric. I'm not into junk food very much, but I ate a LOT of fruits! And by that I mean 500-1000 callories from fruits only! I stopped counting aftert the 7'th peach!!! So I guess I will be buying only apples from now on since I don't like them very much, and there's no chance I'll be eating them just for fun.

I weighed in today at 219.5. I started at 223.5. I feel good about that. I definately know that my bod is not liking this low cal diet. However, I am off to the gym in 45 minutes. Today, I do admit I feel a little bit worn from the amount of cardio I have done throughout the week, but I'll pull through. I need to do some other measurements and I will post those later on today. Glad to hear everything is going well with you BUDDHA and Gila keep enjoying that fruit. See you guys later today.

Then the No.1 first worst thing, I suppose, is someone farting next to you...
Someone farted next to me once - I thought I was going to suffocate!

---
On other note, I did my planned cardio for today - succeeded to run a bit longer, yay! Though I was running too close to the screen and pushed the "emergency stop" button several times by accident, had to start the count from the beginning over and over.. Very unnoying. :d_mad:

Well, I hope to get my hunger under control and limit myself to the amount of callories which will enable me to loose fat. It's just that I love to eat soooo much.... :eat:

Jen - congrats on the weight loss! :claplow: My weight seems to be stuck on the same 57.2 kg. It's probably malfunctioning

edit: The day's over. I had my calloric intake pretty much under control. Pretty much means I exceeded the plan by about 100 calories, but lessons were learned and notes were taken, so I will be smarter next time! :D (did anybody say obsession?..). I'm consuming to little proteins. I should consider a protein shake..

GILA thank you so much for your congratulations. They are much appreciated. I did my 85 minutes of cardio yesterday. Today, was supposed to be my off day but I worked out anyways. I did 55 minutes on the treadmill and 20 on the stationary bike. My diet has been great. I ate about 20 crawfish last night and two glasses of wine and that is as far as I will go on a cheat meal. I had a lot of fun though. Also, congratulations Buddha on your weight loss. Oh yeah and about that fart comment. For some reason I am cursed to be working out right next to those people and believe me women can stink up a place as much as men (LOL)

Gila I promise I love to eat just as much as you but for some reason I feel really focused. I really hope I stay this way. Also, you might be one of those people where the first couple of weeks you lose practically nothing and then the weight just starts melting off all of a sudden. I know quite a lot of people like that and the worse thing you can do is get discouraged and quit. Do not worry it is going to come off and when it does you'll be happy that you stuck with it.

I hope all is well with everyome else. I still need to take those measurements and post them. I am mad that I did not do them before I started this program because now I will not know my total loss. However, my pants are starting to get loose. :claplow:

Skipped cardio today. Mondays is worst cuz I can't sleep the night before as early as I'd like to. I ate well today though so I'm not too worried. I'll be back on track tomorrow.

Gila, I'm glad I don't have to go to the gym to run. That'd be very gross to have to jog through a hideous stench.

I was thinking about getting a gym membership but decided not to. I have free weights that I can use right now and a treadmill so I'm fine for the time being. And I can save by not joining a gym; also the drive would probably suck and take even more time away from the day.

I was thinking of starting to do cardio twice a day on days I don't lift weights. On Tuesday Thursday and Sundays I will lift weights in the evenings and do fasted cardio in the mornings. On all the other days I was thinking doing fasted cardio in the morning and then again in the afternoon after work jog another 50 minutes (or walk at an inline at 60-70% heart rate for fat loss). I know people say that might be overkill but I can't help but want to get this fat off as quickly as possible. If I do the healthy 2 pounds a week that means it will take 20 weeks to get to my goal for the cut (140lbs, currently I'm 180). I hope I can maybe try and lose 3 pounds a week. I know it's probably not the healthiest but It gets frustrating looking in the mirror and not seeing any change. Anyways I'm not making any excuses to stop the cut, I will keep at it till it's all gone. Every goddamn pound.

I just got back from the gym. All went well today except I was tired. I really did not want to work out but I am glad I pushed myself. Once I started working out I felt great. I did 75 mins on the treadmill. My diet is good. I think I need to start drinking a protein shake before bed because I have been fasting after 9:30 pm and I do not go to bed until 2 am. I wake up between 9 and 10 and eat a half hour after that. So that is 13 hours with no food. I think it would make me feel better when I wake up in the morning.

What do you guys think about that? It is EAS low carb whey protein shake mix.

Gila I am right there with you on the tummy thing. My upper abs are like steel already but I still have a bit of a pooch. I have always had good abs and obliques even when I am out of shape. They start to show quick so that gives me motivation. :jumping:

Today I went to the gym in the evening for a change, it's better than going in the mornings I think, because I feel rather tired afterwards. Monday was leg day, I did all the exercises nicely. I didn't do the planned cardio though, because all the ellipticalls were taken and I was too tired to run.
I really need to buy a protein powder! :db:

Jen, many peopl on this forum have a small pre-bed snack, most eat cottage cheese. Personally I don't like very much to eat before going to sleep because then the diegestion system works while it should be resting and as a result I don't sleep very well. But I think that a box of cottage cheeze would be light enough not to create problems.

Samir, that's a lot of cardio! I think it would be great if you can pull it through. Though personally I like moderation. :o I hope you succeed with your plan! :gl:

Did morning cardio (50 minutes, 5.4 speed settings). I ate well also. I think I've been underestimating how much chicken I've been eating so I'm gonna have to cut down on that, which sucks because that means I'm gonna be even more hungrier :eat: . But I'll just have to suck it up.

I also started lifting weights again. I did crunches, squats and tricep extensions. I don't know if I'm not doing enough or what. I feel like I'm not but at the same time I don't have much muscle at all so I tihnk I'm going to have to just try and maintain muscle mass until I lose all this fat and start bulking.

Ohh, I just got my ipod shuffle today too! I get my armband hopefully sometime this week so I can start using it when I jog.

went to the gym today and got my cardio in, a whole 25 minutes on the elliptical :) Not as much as everyone else, but I am working my way up.

things are going great right now. I have been eating way less, and eating better foods. mostly been eating lean cuisines and the like at work for dinner, and a heathly lunch, either chicken and rice, or subway chicken sub, and for breakfast, usually a couple of eggs, and 2 pieces of toast. hope to keep it going. feeling good right now though.

Okay, my diet has been impeccable and I worked out yesterday on the treadmill for 90 minutes and almost 7 miles. I was so proud. The monster that comes out in me in the gym is incredible. I have been sleeping deeply and the protein shake before bed keeps me from hearing my stomache all night. I also find that I go to sleep faster. Today, I will be going to the gym around 3pm. I will be doing weights also. I feel pretty good for having worked out so hard for the last nine days. I usually get my 8 or 9 hours. I value sleep very much.

Gila, congrats. Your progress pics are great. I can really see the difference and that is hard to do when you already thin. :tu:

I'm back from the gym, munching on some tuna sandwiches. I had a killer cardio exercise (that is 5 minutes walking, 10 minutes running, 5 walking, 5 running, and 5 walking :p ) it was pretty intence. My running I did on a rate of 9 km/hour, which is 5.6 miles/hour on an incline of 3. The callorie meter on the threadmill said that I burned nearly 400 calories... I wouldn't trust that number too much, but I wonder how many calories I DO burn...
Afterwards I did some lame 20 minutes on the elliptical - I was totally drained and I was sqeezing my last resorts for that. :tu: I'm pretty happy with today, plus I think I'm getting the hang of the macros :gl:

Jen, thanks for the double compliment! :D That belly has been there forever! Sometimes I think that I was born pregnant  I hope one day to reach your stamina! Mine is pretty low right now, but I'm working on it! :tu: Oh and I wouldn't worry about the breakfast! I say eat as much as you can. You ca divide your serving to what you can eat on breakfast, and eat the rest a little later when you've worked up your appetite!

Samirp, congrats on your dedication this week. I cannot wait for Saturday's weigh in either. I did 80 minutes on the treadmill, a little over 6 miles. My diet is the same as always. Lots of beans (LOL) and fat free dairy products. If I were a guy I would be blowing the roof off my house LOL.

I know I am doing a lot of cardio and I hope I am not making anybody feel bad for posting the minutes. I just have been in the zone lately. I guess its the athlete in me LOL.

Why did I ever even let myself get this way in the first place???????

yea, the 24 hour gym would be nice. not that i would necessarily use it at odd hours, but hte possibility of actually going after work, would be nice. since i work 3-11, and the gym closes at 11, I can never go after, and have to make sure that I go early enough to get a workout in before work. I guess I cant complain too much since teh gym is right at my work, well, like a 2 minute drive from work, and since where i work owns it, I get a really cheap rate :)

today i got a 30 minute elliptical session in, followed by 10 minutes in the sauna. going for lunch now. everything still going good.

Had a good workout in the morning (same old same old, 50 min, 5.4mph), My legs feel worn out though. I think it's the combination of squats I did the day before yesterday and the two cardio sessions I did yesterday. I like that feeling though. It's like I am actually getting something done.

I ate well... till lunchtime. I went to Trader Joe's to get some more Oatmeal and Chicken and got a tuna sandwich. Not too bad. It had like 31 grams of fat in it. But I'm not too worried today's my weight lifting day and with the extra cardio I am adding to my weekly routine I should probably add some calories to my meals (at the very least to my weight lifting days).

Jenn I know what you mean about wanting to get rid of all the fat overnight. I'd love it if I woke up tomorrow and it was October and 4 months of results showed right away. I get pretty insane sometime thinking about it.

Ok guys. I worked out today even though I was worn out. I thought I was not going to have the willpower. However, after a brief nap I made it !!!!!!!!!!! Yippeee!!!!! I worked out hard for 75 mins on the treadmill. I feel a little guilty because I overdid it on the low fat no sugar added Ice cream (6g sugar and 3 g fat). I feel bad and I k now I shouldn't because I have not cheated on anything in 11 days. But why do I feel this way? Ughhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well , maybe I will just stay on the treadmill extra long tomorrow or do two workouts (something like that).

Ok Samirp I will let you know if I wake up 60 lbs lighter. Keep your fingers crossed. I am praying for it. LOL

I had my lower body exercise today + some elliptical action - though it was pretty lame. I was dead beat from the weight exercise, but I felt quite satisfied with it. :)

My diet wasn't very perfect today, the meals were scattered and I only had 3 serious meals due to anafternoon nap. Otherwise, I overdid it with the peaches, but perhaps didn't exceed with the calloric intake because the meals were just too few.
I'll do better tomorrow.

The gym will be closed on sunday! I can't believe it! Sunday is cardio day, and I might gonna have to do something I really hate doing! I'll go on a jog outside. REALLY hate to do it! :(

CONGRATULATIONS BUDDHA AND JENN!

Yesterday I had a monster cheat day :eat: . Felt pretty bad the whole day but you know what I don't even care. I'm having an easier time moving on after cheat days as long as I can confine them to one day and eat perfectly the other six days. It wasn't even too bad. I probably ate around 2500 calories except it was all bad stuff :p . I was worried it would affect my weigh in today but I was greatly relieved after I stepped on the scale.

Last week's weigh in 6/11/05: 179.0 (30.4% bf)
This week's weigh in 6/18/05: 175.2 (28.5% bf)

If I believe the bf% of the Tanita scale I actually gained some lean mass  . A very small amount though. I am still skeptical about the accuracy of the Tanita scale.

Looks like the weight training and the double cardio days are paying off.

Keep up the good work everyone :claphigh: .

Just finished lifting. Didn't have a good workout at all. I felt tired the whole time and I wasn't even able to reach the few sets and reps I do normally. I think I'm gonna have to make sure I eat some more carbs on lifting days.

I ate well yesterday and today. My eating schedule gets so screwed up on the weekends. I get up at 4 on weekdays and then on saturday and sunday I will get up at like 9 and that causes everything to shift. And I never really eat after 8 pm so that makes things really odd for me. I think I'm gonna have to make a eating plan for days I wake up late.

Morning cardio went well though, did the normal thing. I have my IPOD shuffle now and that makes jogging a lot more fun. I LOVE listening to music!

Who knows, I might as well stick with the old one (4 times a week, 2 times torso, 2 times legs and abs). I'm a bit confused about it. Currently I'm reading Tom Venuto's book "Feed the Muscle, Burn the Fat". I hope it would give me an insite on work out routines, as well as on other things.

Come to think of it, I don't really know why working 2 muscle groups/day is better than working on up/low body 2 times a week.

I read that book also. It is very good. You will definately get good ideas about workouts and nutrition. I lost mine. I had a printout and I do not know how to be able to read it without buying it. If you have any ideas Gila let me know. I plan on going to the gym at around 3 or 4. This is much earler than I usually due yeeeeaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe that we are all so good about posts. I have the best participants ever. :claplow:

ANYWAYS, I had a killer cardio exercise today! I actually pushed myself to run whole 15 minutes on 5.5 miles and incline of 3! Woohoo! I'm soooo proud of me!!! :D

I also weighed myself today (big mistake!!! I should only take measurments once a week!) and the scale said I gained a pound!! What's up with that?!?! OK, so it could be anything from water weight to I don't know what, but it's a bummer.

The bad news is that now I'm summarizing today's consumed callories and I only get 827.4!!! That sucks!!! The problem is I'm too tired to eat after a work out, and the chicke breast are so filling that I have to force myself to eat anything else. I also had bad meal timing so I happened to eat an hour before the cardio, bleah!

Oh well, tomorow's a new day and all, and I'm dead beat. Going to sleep. Good luck everybody!!!!!! :tucool:

Edit: I decided to raise a bit my calories for today - thank God for werther's! :eat:

Today went golfing this morning, and getting up 3 hours earlier than normal can really mess your day up, with the "planned" meals and everything. Now everything is off, and I will be up just as late as usual because of work.

I also went to the gym and got a 35 minute elliptical session in which did me some good. I'm working now, so that is all I can put up right now.

Gila, I feel like the biggest idiot. I did not even think about looking for that book on my downloading software (Morpheus its the best). Now I have the book once again and I have you to thank.

I just got back from the gym and did 80 mins on the treadmill. I worked out a little harder today than usual which felt good. I dug deep. I have been eating well. I am in love with those new Arby's market fresh sandwiches. They are delicious and oh so healthy.

Sorry about the whole scale thing Gila. I learned that way to not to weigh myself but once a week. I weighed myself 2 days after way in (after 1st weigh in) and had gained a half of pound or maybe a whole one but remember I wound up losing 6 lbs that week. I hope that makes you feel better.

You guys have a great evening and c-ya tomorrow. :tu:

I used to weight myself almost everyday. I'd get some wild variations in my weight. I'd have times where it seems lost 5 pounds in three days or gained 5 pounds in three days. Even weighing myself once a week sometimes I see myself gaining weight. But, the cool thing is I put all the data in a spreadsheet and I can tell that in the long haul I am losing weight. If I ever doubt what I am doing is working or even worth it I just look at the spreadsheet at my weigh ins for February and see that I was in the mid 190's.

I agree with the Tom Venuto e-book, very informative. It's definitely worth buying and reading more than once :tucool:.

I hate work! I hope I can get into Grad school. I will take Grad school way more seriously than I did Undergraduate school. I can't wait till I can leave this job. I've only been there like It's an office job that's really lame. I'd think I'd go nuts if I wasn't able to listen to music in the office. What do you guys do for work? or school?

I'm really used to morning cardio now. I feel like I can keep up with where I am at and steadily improve without regressing. Lifting is a whole other story. I am so damn weak. I could only do half the squats I normally do today. And mind you it's with 40lb dumbbells in each hand. I read about people squatting 300-400 lbs. I am so damn far from ever being able to do that if at all. I know the food thing has a lot to do with it. I'm probably not gonna gain any strength while I am on a caloric deficit.

I can't wait for this gut to go away. Or hell just get smaller. I can see I am losing fat by reading the tanita scale and seeing both my weight and bf% going down but my eyes can't see it in the mirror.

OKAY enough complaining time to go to bed watching the Pistons Spurs game. I don't even know who I want to win. I am a Lakers fan and have reasons for not wanting both these teams to win. I'm gonna say I want Spurs to win right now because Horry was a Laker and also Pistons beat Lakers in Finals last year so it'd be good to see them knocked down from the championship.

You can't really increase mucsle mass while cutting. I think it's great you lift, you loose less mucle this way. And don't worry about being able to squat "only" 80lbs. You're better than some and weaker than others, but currently you have another goal than increase muscle mass. When you start bulking you'll double this weight in no time!

Happy Birthday Gila! Hope you had a good time.

Today I did the same morning cardio (5.4 mph, 50 minutes, no incline). And I did the evening cardio (5.0 2min, 7.0 1min, alternate for 23 minutes). I think I'd rather do an an hour of LISS in the evening but I'd rather spend only 23 minutes doing cardio in the evening than an hour.

I ate well for the most part. Had a small stain in my meal plan. I took a few sips of Vanilla Cream soda  . I can't wait till my cheat day so I can drink some more. For right now it's just Diet Rite and Water. This challenge is really helping me eat clean I think. Before I'd have days in the middle where I'd give in and eat crappy. But now that I am forcing myself to write down in this thread if I ate well or not I tend to stay away from the crappy food (except on friday my cheat day :p ).

P.S. Be Cool is a crappy movie.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GILA. Hope you had a good day!

today was good and bad. I had a good back/bi workout at the gym, until I hurt my back doing dumbbell rows. I dont konw what i did, but it is hurting.

also, first couple of meals were good, and then my and my mom went to the Olive Garden, where I am sure I had too many carbs, and ate too much.

Will just have to burn it off doing cardio tomorrow, and if my back is feeling ok, there will be some tennis in there too.

I went to the gym yesterday at around 7pm and did like 65 minutes on the treadmill and 23 on the elliptical. I think I am going to start to do my core secrets DVD's in the morning and cardio in the evening. The Core Secrets DVD's are wonderful. They use weights and the ball and I love the ball. The videos are great for your BUTT! Whehoooooooo :tu:

Sadly I couldn't work out today, and I won't be able to work out untill Sunday. I'll just keep my diet for the next 3 days.

On Sunday I'm planning to start a new cardio routine - I'll be running on a threadmill Monday-Friday on 6 or 7 in the morning, so that I'll be able to use the empty stomach element :p I still haven't decided what to do with my lifting routine - probably I'll just stick to the old one for now. In lifting days I'll be going to the gym in the evenings to lift. Those days will be Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Keep up everybody, and good luck! This support group really rocks! :tucool:

today has gone good so far. I played tennis for about 90 minutes, and then tried to do the elliptical afterwards. that didnt work too well as I only got about 10 minutes on the elliptical. I was beat from the tennis and the sun.

my back felt good this morning when I woke up, but after I played tennis for a little bit and reaching for some shots, it started to hurt again. The nice thing is to know that it isn't that bad or it would have hurt when I woke up, but it is still something that could bother me for a few days/week.

this weekend is going to be messed up for me. I have to go see a college advisor tomorrow morning at 9:00AM, and then Saturday I have to work a double. I am probably going to have to make Saturday my off day, and do my normal Saturday cardio on Sunday.

I hope I'll succeed to squeeze in some cardio tomorrow, though unlikely, because in my mind Saturday is rest day, and I would be very unwilling to give it up.

Also I weighed myself today and the schale showed 124.6lbs. I feel very happy about it, though I was cheating - I weighed myself right after doing the cardio. Although I sipped on some water I still was dehydrated... But who cares - it's good for my motivation! :D

Jess and I hit the cardio today at the usual time, noon and we kicked its butt! we did it on the cross-trainer and we both seriously worked up quite a sweat! 35mins at about 85% or so. We skipped weights today since both of us felt like we've been dropped off a building! me especially since the cross-trainer i worked out on the day before put a lot of stress on my calves and i can barely walk.

Our diets have been pretty spot on with breakfast, a couple of healthy snacks and a small dinner. Jess has lost 9 lbs so far this month and I only lost 5...I did, however, go up to about 260 before I really started and got serious when I dropped to 255 then I got hardcore...

Tomorrow its gonna be a light workout with weights since I'm sure we're both gonna feel pretty worn out. I'm expecting to be in the mid 240's by the first of July! :gl:

I worked out yesterday for 55 mins on the treadmill and 20 on the elliptical. Howeve, instead of doing manual on the treadmill, I did the Hill Interval with the max incline 15% and then I did the Pikes Peak profile so I felt great after I got off the treadmill. I worked out pretty hard on the elliptical to.

I made it for my cardio this morning, but I missed breakfast to do so. I had a banana on my way to the gym, and that will be all the breakfast that I get. I will probably just slip my lunch up a little help, but not much I can do about the missed meal.

I got 30 minutes on the elliptical on level 5 with the hill program. I think that I am going to try to work my way up to about 45-50 minutes over the next 1-2 months, and then probably hang around there for a while. I think that somewhere around there should be good for a while. I might do that, and alternate a sprint/jog minute intervals into some workouts.

For todays weigh in, I was 377, though for some reason I felt a little bloated when I woke up. Not sure if I could have been a half pound to a pound lighter, but either way, I had a loss of 3 pounds since last week, so I am happy. As long as it continues a downward trend, I will be happy. I will have pictures and measurements on my journal tomorrow morning when I have a chance to get them taken.

Once you hit the 50 minute mark mentally it will get a lot easier to do that everyday. I think the toughest part of doing cardio for that extended time is not even knowing if you can make it or not for 50 minutes. Once you are doing 50 minutes straight you'll gain a lot of confidence from that alone.

My weight really fluctuates a lot. Yesterday I weighed myself in the middle of the day and it said 180 then this morning I did my weigh in and it read 173.5. I did the weigh in after my cardio and after taking a shower. I guess that really makes it read less. Since I started my weigh ins after my cardio I think I will stick to that. I hear weighing yourself in the same condition is the key.

Last weeks weigh in 6/18/05: 175.20 lb
This weeks weigh in 6/25/05: 173.20 lb

I'm gonna get more serious about lifting now. I posted a pic of what I am going to do this saturday. I will do a 3 day full body split :bb: . I am going to up my calories to 2200 those days also. I hope my image uploaded correctly.

reweighed today since I was bloated yesterday and I was taking pics today.

was at 376 and here are the measurements

waist - 57.5"
chest - 56"
neck - 20"
bodyfat - 35.5%

In the last 2 weeks, I have lost a half inch on my waist (measured around my belly button), 1.5 inches off my chest, and a half in on my neck, and 9 pounds.

I am going to try to use http://www.healthcentral.com/cooltools/nutrition/homebodyfattest.aspx to track my bodyfat right now. I know it probably wont be as accurate as calipers, but I dont know if my gym does it, and also, with knowing it is too high, I want to know for sure until it is lower :) I ordered some calipers on Ebay that might help me track a little better than the website, but who knows.

When I had used that site to meaure my bodyfat 2 weeks ago, it came up with 37%, so that is also down 1.5%, and only lost .03 pounds of lean mass. the other 8.97 pounds was fat.

I hope this continues to keep up.

Ok guys. Here it is. I have made all my workouts. Yesterday I did 75 mins on the treadmill and today I will be doi ng the elliptical and the treadmill. I cannot believe that I am about to say this but I have cheated with 2 meals this weekend and some drinks. Last night and the night before. Not during the day just the two meals at night time. I have been working out hard and maybe the break will give me the boost I need. PLease tell me that I am not horrible for cheating. I feel a little guilty and I have been so hungry because of this whole time of the month thing. I still have not started and I feel like for the last 4-5 days I have been holding on to at least 5 extra pounds. I always did gain a lot around my period. That is why I was not mad when my weigh in was the same because I really know that I had lost at least 4 pounds. I just wish this woman thing would just hurry up and come all ready. I am back on track as far as my diet goes and no cheating anymore (maybe one meal once a week but only during the day).

Ok, I am off to get ready for the gym.
Sorry guys for all the woman talk. I felt like I was venting my frustrations today.

If you're guilty for having two cheat meals during a weekend I should be sentenced to death for the cheat meals I have. I have a whole day where I cheat. And this weekend unfortunately it went on into Saturday too. I just pick myself up again and move on. I've always had a cheat day for the past 5 months and have still been able to lose weight. I say don't give it a second thought. Two meals can't undo all those days of perfect eating you've put in.

Yesterday I had a good eating and a bad exercise. I haven't lifted weights in a week and I kinda forgot my routine - how dumb is that. Anyway, this upper-lower body routine isn't working, it's just not very effective. I realised that my body would function much better if I give it some more rest (duh, it's anout time  ), so I'm gonna do a 3 day split, following gravityhomer's program Chest+shoulders+triceps; Back+biceps; Legs+abs.

So the new planned schedule is:

Sunday - Chest+shoulders+triceps
Monday - 30 minutes on a threadmill
Tuesday - Back+biceps
Wednesday - 30 minutes on a threadmill
Thursday - Legs+Abs
Friday - 30 minutes on a threadmill.
Saturday - rest day.

Today I woke up feeling like a wreck and having a headache. I think it's because I'm not very warm at night. I guess I should consider a blanket even though it's summer :(
Hopefully I'd feel better in the evening and will be able to go for a run.

Ohh man today was horrible! I had a bunch of crappy fast food then came home and ate more junk. I had a dentist appointment today and that really messed up my schedule. I didn't eat anything for awhile so after I left the dentists office I was really hungry. I really can't let some small change in my schedule fuck up my clean eating habits. I need to put eating clean first before anything else. Eating 5 times a day really helps stave off cravings. I should keep some healthy food in my car just in case I can't get home or something happens where I can't get to food. The way I feel right now all stuffed and tired will be my reminder to NEVER do that again.

There is some good news though I did my cardio this morning. I even upped my speed, though i only upped it from 5.4 mph to 5.5mph :D . Back on the wagon tomorrow. I'm gonna hit the weights hard tomorrow :db: .

at about 430 we went back to the gym and played a little racquet-ball for about 20 mins then went and played badminton with some friends of ours. we ate fairly well with the exception of a little bit of guacamole, which I hear is great for you anyways.. update tomorrow!

Buddha, you are really getting up there quick on cardio. You should be proud.

Thanks. Part of the reason I think that I am getting up there quickly is that last year, or aroudn a year ago, I had started working out and losing some weight, and then sort of lost interest, and my knee was bothering me. Once I started to gain some of the weight back, I was like this has got to go, and then you started the challenge, and that really jumpstarted me into going ot the gym again. I think that part of the reason I can go 30 minutes also is that I am only doing cardio 3 days a week. Before I would do it like 5-6, and not really have time to recover, and would start to wear out.

Todays workout was so-so. Got some work in, but not as good as it could have been. I think part of that has to do with the fact that I was running late to get to the gym, and then didnt have as much time as I would have liked to have before work. Oh well, there is always another day :)

Today I had a decent cardio session. Another 30 minutes on the elliptical. hill course, level 5. I finished out strong too, so I think I may go to 35 minutes on Thursday, at least if my Ipod comes by then I will, or try to go a little faster at 30 minutes, or something to just overall get more done. It sucks having to listen to the gym music while doing cardio. Well, do anything it sucks. I would much prefer my own, and doing cardio, it makes the time seem much easier if I am listening to my own music.

So far today my meals have been good. Got to go shopping tonight after work, and get some things like chicken, bread, egg whites, fruit, veggies, etc. Some good clean food :)

I like how after every session at the gym, and I almost looking forward to the next day. I cant wait to get back tomorrow and do some more weights, and daily work at getting this fat off of me and getting in better shape. Tomorrow is going to be a back/bi day, and I am going to try to hit it hard. I dont have to work tomorrow, so I dont have to worry about any time constraints bothering me from getting my workout done, which is nice. Sometimes I wish my gym was open 24 hours so that I could just go after work, and not have to worry about the time, but since I get done at 11ish PM, the gym is closed and no workout for me to get done.

It sucks having to listen to the gym music while doing cardio. Well, do anything it sucks. I would much prefer my own, and doing cardio, it makes the time seem much easier if I am listening to my own music.

Totally! I love my IPOD. Having a good rockin song play that last 5 minutes really helps.

I had a good workout today. Did morning cardio, ate well then later on did my new lifting routine. From now on I am going to do crunches and pushups on my non lifting days along with an HIIT cardio session in the evening. I upped my calories too so im kind of worried that I will end up gaining weight but I wanna test it out see if it works. and if it does work I'll have a few more calories I can eat :D .

Today I had another great workout. Did back and bi's, and then played a game of tennis, well 3/4 of a game before we were both beat from the sun, and sweating, and the fact that I know that I needed a meal, as I was getting "weak and tired".

For the first time that I can remember in a long time, I actually moved up in weight on curls. To me I could never move up in weight, and this week when I tried what I normally do, it was like way too easy, so I moved up 10 lbs on the curl machine. It feels really good to have to move the weight up because you know that you are making progress. Other than that, I did my normal back/bi routine, and threw in some shrugs for the traps.

I only ran for like 25 minutes in the morning. After the 25 minute mark I really had to clear out my bowels :o . My stomach was pretty much killing me. I ate well though, I almost broke down and went to Wendy's for lunch but resisted the urge. I just did another cardio session 23 minutes of HIIT on the treadmill. I'm gonna do some crunches and pushups before I go to sleep.

Keep up the good work everyone.

I couldn't make myself study so I thought I'd post a little :D

My eating wasn't very good lately. There's something about math that makes me very nerveous and crave for sweet crap. So strong is the craving I don't feel guilty after consuming the sweets. I wish it was over already, math is my nightmare :(
With that said, I had a killer cardio yesterday. I didn't have time to go to the gym so I just went for a ~25 minutes run outdoors. There's something about jogging outside that is waaaay more straining on the muscles than using a threadmill. Probably because when you jog, you have to push yourself from the sidewalk, while when on a threadmill you only have to keep up with the phase.
Anyway, my feet are killing me.

What do you guys do when you finish a cardio exercise? I really wish I could go to the beach right now and walk barefoot on the sand - it's a gread massage for the feet...

Anyways, I took a side picture of myself today, and when compared it to my starting picture I noticed my belly grew significantly smaller! Woohoo!!!! Though my thighs/hips seem remain the same size... But who cares! I REALLY wanna get rid of that belly!!!!

OK, enough rambling, gotta study (bleh).
Hope everybody's doing well!

Just got back from the gym and eating my breakfast. I went and did a fasted cardio session shortly after waking up this morning. I ate a banana before going to the gym, and then hit 35 minutes on the elliptical at level 5 on the hill program. It was tough. I almost felt like quiting after about 20-25 minutes, realizing how much I still had to go, but I held on, and fnished the 35 minutes. I can't wait til my Ipod comes in the mail. It should be in todays mail. It will make Saturdays cardio session easier, though it will be after a leg day, so I am sure I will be somewhat sore.

Had a nice little breakfast. 1/2 cup egg whites, 1 large egg, 3 slices wheat bread, and a glass of OJ. Now I am just going to sit around for a while, and probably not do much before my next meal. I got some cleaning to do around the house that I might or might not do.

I upped my morning cardio speed by 0.1 again. I'm at 5.6mph (no incline) for 50 minutes. I hope to be at 6.5 for 50 min to an hour without passing out by the end of the year. I did weights again today. It was easier this time around, I think I like my new full body routine. I'm using dextrose also which is scary because it's pure sugar but I will take the word of everyone on this forum who swears by it and see how it goes for a couple months.

Buddha, which iPod did you order? I have an iPod mini and an iPod shuffle. I also have a busted up 3g ipod (the 30 gb one). I want to get the huge iPod photo but I think I will wait till I save up more money and a newer iPod comes out. Saving money is so tough, seeing it in the bank just makes me want to spend it. But I really shouldn't considering I don't get paid that much to begin with.

I've just made it back from a jog outside - this time I was jogging with a friend! Was really nice. As a matter of fact, I don't think I'll bne jogging in the gym anymore, not in the summer at least. I never get to run more than half an hour in the gym because the running times are limited, and there's a line to all the threadmills... Besides, running on a threadmill is not nearly as straining as jogging! Only 20-25 minutes of jogging are gonna really make my muscles ache tomorrow, and that never happenes in the gym...
Anyway, we're going to see the new Batman movie today - looking forward to it! Might even treat myself with some buttery popcorn :D

Hi guys, sorry I have not posted in a while. I have been so busy but have been doing great. I have been hitting the weights and the cardio hard this entire week. I have been eating well also. I have lost another 3 lbs (weighed on Wednesday), so I have lost 13 total since June 7th. I feel really good and my mood has been great. I feel myself getting in better shape and my heart rate monitor says it to. I have to up my intensity just to get my heart rate up to where I could get it when I first started working out. I am really looking forward to my time of the month being over (after today) and cannot wait till weigh in tomorrow. It really makes it easy not to cheat on Fridays when I know I have to weigh myself the next day :D

I am so excited about how good I feel. I have been keeping myself busier than usual because of it and that is why I have not posted. I will be sure to post every day from now on.

Just in case you guys were wondering, a high fiber/low fat diet works amazingly for losing weight and the fiber keeps you full. I get like 40-50 grams in the food I eat day by day.

Glad to see everyone else is doing well. Buddha, you are moving on up. I am going to start having to keep up with you.

Gila, good luck on your math!!!!!!!!!!!! :tu:

Samir, i like my full body routine also and I am sure you will be at 6.5mph in no time. :jumping:

Where do you get your fiber from? I eat about one cup of beans a day and big bowl of salad everyday. That's about the only place I get fiber from. Do you get it from other sources? I should try that maybe speed up my cutting.

Last week 173.20lb 28.60% fat
This week 172.20lb 27.50% fat

I'm glad I went down especially with my horrible eating week. I probably only ate clean 60% of the week. Anyways I am slowly getting there, slooooooooooooooowly.

I eat a high fiber cereal that is actually very good. It has 14 grams per serving and it is made by fiber one. I ran out but I think it is called Honey clusters. It has very little sugar and is quite good and I eat either that or oatmeal every morning. I also eat yogurt with fiber. They just started making them and they are delicious. They come in single servings in packs of 4 made by Yoplait I think. I eat a lot of beans and I have these great wheat tortillias that have 2 g of fat 12 carbs, 8 of which are fiber and they are only 6 inches in diameter and they are super yummy. I eat about 2-3 of the tortillias a day. They are great for wraps and satisfy you like bread. It really is easy. I get the tortillias and everything else at Wal-Mart. You will see them , they are carb conscious tortillias.

I meant to tell you guys earlier. I have lost a total of 14 pounds. I started at 223.5 and am now down to 209.5 and my waist is already down to a 32. I am soooooo excited. My waist was a 37 when I started. Even though I have had a lot of success, I went to the mall today with my two twin Best friends who wear a size 0 (I swear) and looking at all of the clothes I could now wear was really depressing :( . I felt fat all day for some reason. I feel a little better now. I think I just need a good night's sleep. I just feel like I have so much further to go. It is a little overwhelming at times. Thank you guys so much for keeping up with the posts and keeping me on my toes.

I have 54.5 lbs more to go. I hope I can do this. :d_eek:

Edit: Back from the gym. Did chest, triceps, shoulders and abs (I'm gonna do the abs every lifting session, that's 3 times/week).

Today is Back, triceps, abs day and I'm back from the gym. Workout was fairly difficult but unpleasantly short

Diet was great, though I had to make some icky adjustments to put the energy bar I ate within my calloric bounds. Me no like tuna very much :(
I don't succeed to keep my carb/protein ratio 40-40, I mean no matter how I try to cut on the bread and add more meat it just seem to remain 50-30! Grrrr!!!

I had a real good weekend. I worked out Saturday and Sunday with no cheating. Monday, my gym was closed and we had a BBQ at my house. I bought Turkey Meat for me and had delicious turkey burgers. The only things I had outside my diet were a small piece of cake with light icing and my mom's famous baked beans. I had them early in the day and did not overdo it so I do not feel bad. I went to the gym today and felt like a million bucks. I have to work a lot harder to get my heart rate up there so I know I am getting myself in better shape. I also think the day off yesterday helped me. I ate well today also and am looking forward to tomorrow. :tu:

Hey Gila, here's my diet :eat: (at least what I should be following):

Meal 1: Steelcut Oatmeal (2 cups cooked) w/ tons of splenda and strawberries, 6 egg whites.

Meal 2: Detour Caramel Peanut (I'd really like to replace this with something else that has less sugar and saturated fat but it's tough with work and all).

Meal 3: Banana

Meal 4: 4 oz Chicken cooked in olive oil, A whole can of refried beans mixed with salsa.

Meal 5: Salad

Also on workout days I will have a baked potatoe an hour after Meal 4 and then lift about an hour after that. Then after lifting I will drink a shake with whey protein and dextrose mixed in. This seems to be helping I think because I am able to see increase in strength and endurance whereas before I didn't see any strength gains at all.

I'm still looking to add foods to my diet. Yams if i figure out a way to cook them to make them taste good. Those Yoplait Nouriche drinks that Jenn recommended sound good also (thanks for those suggestions, I'll definitely be looking into those!).

Today I did my morning cardio. I ate well. I lifted weights and felt really good. I made some gains I think. It seemed easier to reach target reps this time. I'm gonna focus more on form when it comes to bent over barbell rows and deadlifts. I'd really like to work my back muscles correctly.

Gila, I am in your boat. seems like no matter what i do, most days are closer to 50/30/20 that 40/40/20, but that is close enough for me. As long as the fats stay low, and not too much more carbs than protein, I am happy.

Got home for work a little while ago. I was running way late for the gym again. I got to start getting there earlier. I got my 35 minutes on the elliptical. Again level 5, random program. I tried to up the speed a little, and managed to. I don't trust the distance things on the elliptical, but it said like 3.6 or 3.7 miles for the 35 minutes. The reason I dont trust them is that once when my sis was in around the holidays and we were using them, we were going similar speeds, but mine said a lot farther than hers did, so I think that it measures the distance somehow based on the weight that you chose, which it shouldnt, but who knows. Either way, I know that I got a good workout in today, and felt great afterwards, at least other than the fact that I had to go work after getting done Tomorrow will be a back/bi workout, and hopefully a good one.

I just got back from the gym. I had another great workout. I got what I felt was some nice work on my back/bis. Afterwards, a buddy of mine was getting ready to do a little run on the treadmill, so I joined him on an elliptical which was right beside the treadmill, and did a nice quickly paced 10 minutes on it. Felt really good to do after the workout. Went to the steam room for about 5-10 minutes afterwards, then home to get a protein shake and relax :)

Yeaterday was cardio so I did my 20 minutes of jogging. The great thing is I didn't feel out of breath while running!!! My body finally starts to adapt which means my cardiovascular system is getting better! This is better news than loosing a few pounds to me!

Though speaking of pounds.... I don't seem to succeed to loose those suckers! The weight shows 125.5lbs in the morning and 128.9 in the evening, and has been shifting like that ever since I started...
It really starts to piss me off, I'm gonna educate myself better, but I have a feeling it's my diet+weights I eat about 1200 cal./day but lift heavy 6sets/6reps, that means lift to build mass, whereas my body doesn't get enough energy. That's just a thought. For now I'll try the advise of a friend of mine and do less sets and more reps with a lower weight and add 200 cal. to my diet. Note to self: READ TOM VENUTO'S BOOK, DAMIT!!!

Samir - Thanks for sharing the diet! Though there's no way I can consume that much food! That sucks! I get stuffed after the first chicken breast, and when I say stuffed I mean I can barely move! Looks like I'm gonna have to invest in a protein powder at last....
I hope you don't get the flu!!!

Buddha - Looks like I'm gonna settle on the 50:30:20 ratio. If you can't beat them... Right? :)

After adding extra cals on July 4th, I feel that it has revved up my metabolism 200%. I did 90 mins of cardio yesterday (combination of the elliptical, bike, and treadmill) and 85 mins today (combo also). I have been sticking to general weights and have recently added a nice ab workout every other day to the mix. I am down a total of 17.5 lbs (as of this morning) since June 7th and I am feeling really really good. My waist has gone from a 37 to a 31.25. My diet has been very clean and tomorrow I will add a few extra cals to give my metabolism a boost 3 days on 1 day add extra cals (this works miracles on the metabolism).

I hope all is well with everyone else.

I am looking forward to tomorrows weighin and picture updates. Also, plan on having a good cardio session before work. The flu wasn't as bad as the one I got in May. That one was brutal. I felt like someone punched in the face with that one. I'm back to doing cardio again. And this Tuesday I will be back to doing lifting again. I only missed 3 days of working out so I'm glad considering I thought I would miss 7 days.

I usually weight myself post fasted cardio but since I can't guarantee I will be doing cardio every single saturday I will weigh myself after waking up and using the bathroom. This way I can guage exactly where I am every week without having to recreate the conditions of my previous weigh in. This weeks is higher than before because of that. I don't think I lost any weight the last week mostly due to poor eating.

Weigh in 7/9/05 176.4lb.

PS good job buddha, you can see a big difference in your pics.

Congrats Jenn. You're doing great.

I almost cheated a couple times today but fought the urge. I was went through a Wendy's drive thru and sooo wanted to get some fries and a chicken sandwich but stayed strong and didn't order anything. Then later after work I was tempted to eat some ice cream but stopped myself from doing that also. So I ate well, maybe too much fruit but overall I only took in around 1750 calories.

As far as working out goes I did morning cardio and did evening cardio also. Both were tougher to do than before but I didn't decrease settings I just fought through it.

Things have been really frustrating lately. I just can't seem to focus on keeping my diet straight. Even during the week when things were really easy to control before. I don't know what it is. I missed my lifting today though. No excuse for not lifting I was just lazy. I did jog in the morning though. Morning cardio has been my saving grace. It's something I do very frequently and something I can look to when I'm feeling like a failure.

I'm right there with you Samir!

Yesterday I missed the weight workout. Because we had to go to the landlord and clear out the rent issues for the future...

Also it's incredibly hot outside (and we don't have airconditioner)...

AND, if that isn't enough I ate 50 gr. of dark chocolate today... I'll try to keep the cal. intake within normal range, but my fat intake went sky rocket
I'm so weak! :(

But I'm looking forward to my evening jog.

And I'm thinking of rescheduling my exercising and jog in the mornings, preferably every morning...

But I will not push it, it's hard as it is with the weather.

---

Back from the jog, had a terrible jog! For some reason I really started loosing my breath and gasping for air in the last few minutes. That sucked. I think It's probably because of the humidity.. :d_mad:

On other note, my cal. intake for today:
Total: 1529.1 cal
106.35gr (27.8%) protein
159.71gr (41.77%) carbs
53.15gr (31.28%) fats :o

* note to self: Put the CHOCOLATE DOWN! Step AWAY from the Chocolate!

i started the day out by going golfing this morning. my workout today was a pretty good. i am considering going to a 3x8 on just pretty much all my lifts while i am continuing to lose. it is enough to help keep/gain strength, while also not too overly taxing on the body. for the first time in a while, i seem to be doing really good on my back/bi workouts. i think because i always felt i was weak in those areas, i didnt have good workouts, but i am now more using that as incentive to try harder, and get them better. i have always had weak/small biceps compared to the strength of my tris, and other parts. I also finished the workout with a 12 minute fast paced run on the elliptical.

Hey guys,

SPeaking of frustration Samir, I am also. I have started this new job and I have to wake up at 3:45 am to be at work for 5:30am. I do not get 8 hours of sleep anymore at night because that puts me in bed at like 7:45 pm and that is ridiculous. I do , however, take a 1.5-2 hour nap when I get home. I feel like I am not making any progress andf that I am holding water. I feel like my lack of sleep at night is slowing my metabolism and I am super scared. DO you think my bod is adjusting or will I continue on this track towards total breakdown? Has anyone else ever gone through this. I am so worried and I need some advice. I eat at 5 am and do not have a chance to eat again at 11. I get off at 3/3:30pm and I take a nap and wake up and go to the gym. When I come home from the gym I cannot eat well because I have to go to bed sooo early just to get like 6 hours of sleep.

HELP

I have been eating a bowl of cereal or zone bar for breakfast and turkey and fat free cheese roll ups (wheat tortillias) and a piece of fruit for lunch. I need to check my calendar again and see when my you know what is coming again.

I am retaining water for some odd reason. :d_mad:

Hang in there. Starting a job can be tough. I have similar hours as you. I get up at 4 AM do my cardio then get to work around 6:15 AM. I eat my first meal of the day then start work at 6:00 AM. I get out at 3 PM and go to sleep at around anywhere from 8 to 9:30 pm. Usually I get to bed at 8. It sucks having to sleep that early but I figure it's a sacrifice I have to make for maybe a couple years. (The job I have I don't really like so I only plan to be there for maybe a couple years at most.)

Maybe you can eat some eggs for breakfast and after 3 hours eat a zone bar?

Only getting 6 hours of sleep might hurt metabolism but I don't think it will be so significant to take you backwards. You seem to be doing perfectly with the diet and workouts that it seems you should still see good progress. And you are getting naps in so that should help too.

It's tough at first I think once you get used to the job and it becomes routine you will be more comfortable.

Gila, I couldnt imagine having it be that hot! I start complaining when it's like 85 degrees here. I should be more grateful for the good weather we have.

I had a good eating day. Did morning cardio (50 minutes at 5.6) and did HIIT (23 minutes alt 5.0 2min, 7.0 1min) in the evening.

I think from now on I am going to write down everything I eat so whenever I get tempted to eat junk I can tell myself "do you really wanna have to write this down and show everyone".

I ate my last Detour bar today. I should have ordered more last week so I'd have some before I ran out. I gotta find something to replace it with.

my food for today

6:30 AM Mcann's Irish Steelcut Oatmeal (2 serving)
6:30 AM w/ 6 Large Strawberries
6:30 AM 6 Egg Whites
9:30 AM Detour Bar Caramel Peanut
9:30 AM Cookie (pecan, chocolate)

7:30 PM Vitamin C (1 pill = 1000mg)

carbs 287(63%)

As far as working out I did the same as I did yesterday Morning cardio same speed and evening HIIT same speed.

I did my cardio today, and was planning on increasing the time, but was feeling pretty dead after my normal 35 minutes, so I just stayed there. Random program again, level 5 again. Hopefully soon, I will be able to increase it up some more, though 35 minutes isn't anything to feel bad about. Maybe part of the "tired" feeling was with not getting on the elliptical but a couple of quick 10 minute runs recently because I had mostly been playing tennis or the like for my cardio. The time seemed to drag while I was doing it today too, so who knows. I will just hope that Saturdays session will seem a bit more productive.

Diet-wise, the last few days have been superb. I have little temptation to cheat, except when I get bored at work, but I think that I have found a new "cheat" bar. The Kashi GoLean bars are pretty good, or at least the one that I tried last night. If I take 1 or two of those with some fruit, I should be set.

Well today I weighed in at 366. Not quite as well as I would have liked, but still 2 pounds less. Part of it is probably that I splurged last night and bought a few Krispy Kreme donunts. Oh well, suck is life, and I will just have to work a little harder to stay cleaner.

I forgot to take some measurements when I first woke up, so those will have to wait until next week.

Also, while playing softball Thursday, I banged my leg up pretty good, and dont think that I am giong to be able to do my cardio today. It hurts just to walk. I am going to have to play this day by day to see when I am going to be able to. I am going to show a pic of my "road rash" that I got on my leg from it here in my SOBF photo section.

Hi all,

The last few days were so so, diet and work out-wise. Not great, but not bad either. This friday's cardio was extremely difficult for some reason. I did finish the planned route, which I'm really proud of, but I can hardly believe that I did, and by the time I finished I was so tired I couldn't even stretch. The good news is that I succeeded to breathe only through my nose while running! :tu:
Today's chest/tri/shoulders/abs day, I'll go to the gym later.

Jen - Hang in there! It's hard to adjust to a new lifestyle, but as Buddha said, it might be wise to go to sleep early even though it might seem ridiculous. When I was in the army I'd do horrible shifts (4-8 AM, 16-20 PM) so I'd get 4 hours of sleep every time. That would total to 8 hours of sleep/day, but the schedule sucked big time. There's no point to this story really, just relating. :)

Samir - writing down your food intake in the forum is an EXELLENT idea. I might follow. (it's much more exciting to write down this stuff on the internet than in a notebook).

Buddha - I can SO relate to your bruised foot! I bruised mine when I slipped in the bathroom :o That was on Thursday. Today's Sunday and it still hurts :(

Didn't keep track of my diet for the past 3 days. On Friday I went to San Diego Comic Con and walked probably 70% of the time from 8 am to 6 pm. So there's my cardio for that day! I ate out but at small amounts. I'm pretty sure I stayed under 1800 calories.

Saturday and today I just rested. I still havnt mastered weekend dieting, I need to do better in that area.

I did weigh in Saturday morning after using the bathroom

Last week 07/09/05 176.40 30.50% bf
This week 07/16/05 172.80 29.20% bf

I doubt I lost 3.6 pounds of fat. It's probably water weight. But I did go down so I am happy about that.

Back to normal schedule tomorrow. FUCK I FORGOT TO ORDER MORE DETOUR BARS!!!

I have some yoplait nouriches though! (Thanks jenn) I think I will use that in place of detour bars. I will probably trade the two off every once in awhile so I'm not eating the same foods.

Well, after Sat and Sun off, I got back to my chest/tri/shoulder workout today, but am somewhat disappointed because I was running really late, and couldnt get everything that I would like done. At least it is there. Now I just have to hit the rest of the week hard to make up for my "little" loss this past week.

Also, my leg feels and looks 100 percent better than it did 2 days ago. No pain in it, other than the slight "road rash" pain that it has.

Another bad eating day. Started off well but after getting home from work I pigged out. I did get both my cardio sessions in. I need to start weight lifting again. Everytime I get a good resistance program going I get a flu or something that fucks it up. It's totally my fault for not hopping back on once I start feeling better though. It's just that I hate lifting. I'd much rather do cardio.

I know I was gonna write down what I ate everyday but it's so depressing when I cheat. I thought it would help but just makes me feel worse.

I got to the gym after work today and got 35 minutes on the elliptical. As I have stated before, I don't really trust the distance calculation on the ellipticals that I use, but i got up to 3.74 miles i think it was in 35 minutes. Was staying up over 75 RPM (dont know what that would convert to in MPH on the elliptical, but kept that up for about 26 minutes before i had to slow a little because of fatigue. I managed to get the whole 35 minutes though. Hopefully soon I will feel good enough to go 40 minutes.

Well, I believe I have finally figured out my perfect diet.

The calories I'm planning to consume are ~bodyweighgt*10, with a 20:40:40 split.

meals:

(1) 2 pieces of whole wheat (WW) bread with 1 slice of 9% yellow cheeze.
2 tsp of chocolate powder + 200 gr of skim milk (basically a milkshake. I hope to replace the chocolate powder with chocolate flavored protein powder in the future).
veggies.

(2) Danone yogurt. (Something fruit flavored, 1.5%)

(3) 150 gr. chicken breast sandwich with 2 slices of WW bread and veggies.

(4) like (1)

(5) omelet (3 egg whites and 1 yolk, 1 tsp of olive oil), 150 gr. of 3% cottage cheese, milkshake like described in (1), veggies. Sometimes I might add an onion or mushrooms to the omelet, or anything else to flavor it up.

(6) not really a meal - 4 Werther's candies to even the macros. Though I might "trade" them for a fruit.

Total:
* 1238.61 calories
Protein - 123.05gr [39.73%]
Carbs - 126.37gr [40.81%]
Fats - 26.77gr [19.45%]

Another important part of my diet is to drink water like a camel! ;)

Well, going on my jog, hope this diet works! :gl:

Good luck everybody!

The bad: I haven't been eating well. I'm eating better than I was last week but I'd say around 65% is clean and 35% is bad. I'm getting there though I can almost feel it.

The ugly: No weigh lifting :( . I really need to just not think about it and start up again.

I think I am going to start grad school in August and with a fulltime job I need to find a way to get lifting in.

I hope I lose some weight the next weigh in. I'm tempted to check now but I will hold off til Saturday.

Things going good so far.

Today I ended up getting to the gym late today because early in the day I wasn't feeling 100%. I wasnt sure if I was going to be able to make it to the gym. I laid around for a little bit, and felt better, so I got to the gym, and then had to go play softball afterwards.

A buddy of mine that was at the gym was going to do some cardio, so I got on the elliptical beside him, and only did 20 minutes, but at a much faster pace than I normally do. When I am doing 35 minutes on the elliptical, it is around a 10 minute/mile clip, and I got the first mile done today in 9 minutes. I have stated it before that I don't trust the accuracy of them, but for all intents and purposes, they are the same for me right now, so I can at least compare how I do day in and day out. I got 2.21 miles total in the 20 minutes I was on the elliptical.

After that, I went to play some softball, and realized that my wrist wasnt as good as I thought that it felt because with the first swing, it hurt real bad. Hopefully with 2 weeks I will be 100%, but who knows. We have 1 more softball game next week, so I will probably just not try to swing the ball hard, and see how it goes.

Buddha - I just saw your pictures again on SOBF, and you're doing great! Hope you're doing well wrist and health wise.

I'm now back from a nice jog. My partner and I ran for 27 minutes on a flat route, had a small walk for a couple of minutes and then ran some more, this time on a climbing route and sprinted on the end. I could actually feel my glutes!
That was a kickass!

Sadly I didn't get to exercised as much as I would have wanted this week, and the eating was kind of crappy, but this jog really makes me feel great!

I did my weigh in on Saturday. I gained more weight again. On the 23rd I was 174.20 and on the 30th it showed 175.20.

My eating has been pretty crappy. I think I will start lifting today. Maybe if I having lifting and morning cardio in my schedule it will force me to follow my eating plans. I also recieved my protein bars in the mail so that should help. The thing I need to control most is not going out for lunch at work. It's so easy to just go to a local fast food place since there are so many around me.

It seems like the whole month of July was a waste for me. I hope to turn a new leaf in August. I'm gonna try and only have ONE cheat meal a week. No more cheat days. And keep my calories at around 1700 every single day even on my cheat day.

Samir, I feel exactly the same way! July was a cheating month! And the funny thing is that at the end of a day I'd see no progress and rant at how hard I try and how there's no progress.. I must've driven my poor b/f nuts!!!
This month I decided to try something new:
Ta-ta-dam!!!

A schedule!

I'll eat my meals on preset hours and I have a pretty good feeling this would do the trick. The thing is that I was so fiery about getting my calories that I'd sometimes overload my stomach with food and feel blah! This month I decided the hell with the calories. I'll eat as much as my body needs and not as much as some formula prescribes.

Anyway, for the great news - today was the hardest, most intence jog I've ever had!

40 minutes people!!!

40 minutes!!!

AND there were inclines and declines!

NEATO! :)

*One final cardio for 30 minutes.

So today was my first hardcore-fitness day, the totall time I spent in the gym was 5 hours!!! Inconcievable!!! (Princess Bride reference, hehe). Also I had a KILLER triceps exercise! I'm SO not going to be able to lift my hands tomorrow!

A buddy of mine envited me for a cardio session in the evening. I'm serioucely considering his offer.

Did I mention I ran for entire 40 minutes with a 6.21miles/hour speed??? THAT'S A GOAL ACHIEVED!!!
WOOHOO!!!
:claphigh:

OK, time for my favorite meal of the day - oatsNmilk!
G'luck yall.

Didn't go jogging in the evening after all. This hardcore plan turns out to be quite exhausting... (gee, who would've thought...)

I need to eat more!

And exercise a little less...

Aah! Salvation! The trick to reboost my energy levels is to eat something sweet. Like an energy bar! :D

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I haven't given up or anything. Things are actually getting kind of better. Since last Tuesday I started my lifting again and things have been on track with that. I am doing the same full body routine I was doing before I caught the flu and stopped for a couple months after that. My cardio has been good too. Doing the same morning jog on the treadmill. I gave up the double cardio session because I have started lifting again. My diet is slowly getting better. It's not perfect by any means yet. I just can't figure out how before I was able to give up the junk and stay completely clean and now It's like I can't control it. I'm not giving up though I think as long as I keep doing cardio and lifting the diet will hopefully get back on track. I will try and post more often. I was most succesful when I was posting on here though maybe it's the fact I haven't been perfect that made me post less. Either way I will try and update more often.

Hey Samir, good to see you! :tu: great to hear you're getting back on the wagon. We all fall sometimes.

I decided to drop the hardcore exercised as it was a wee bit too hardcore  I'll just stick to my normal routine and try to maximise my focus when training. Also after a lot of thought I decided to increase my carb intake because I feel I can function better with this kind of diet.

Bottom line, I just need to pick a certrain routine and stick to it long enough to see some results (or the lack of them, which is also educating).

GM.

In my weigh in I gained some weight I am at 177.4 as of Saturday. The prior week I was at 174.6. I hope some of that is water weight.

I'm glad to say my lifting is going well. I really hate lifting but after a workout session I feel great so that keeps me going. Also I am seeing some minor gains (very minor but still I feel good about it).

Diet is still something I am working on. I usually start off great with my breakfast of oatmeal and eggs but it's later on that kills me. Coke is a big killer for me too I really need to cut that down. I think on my cheat meal day I should wait till the end of the day to have the Coke and just have one and leave it at that. Also water I need to start drinking more water on the weekends.

I'm gonna stop doing the weigh in for a month or so I think around the 3rd week of September I will weigh myself. It'd be cool to see a large difference between my last weigh in and when I weigh myself again the next time.

Gila, your hair looks fine!

Hi samir, looks like we're the last people on the board of this ship :p

On the 3'd of september I'm going to sieze all weighing myself, as well as any activity since I'll be flying abroad for a long vacation. Well, 3 weeks. Dunno, it seems long.
I've been trying to do my cardio in the mornings, and today I finaly did it. It wasn't easy phsichologically, because I'm the kind of a person who cuts himself a lot of slack, and while my body was running my mind was still in bed.
But I sweated nicely so I'm happy.
Lately I've been feeling I was falling off track. My exercises have not been very precistant lately and I don't feel as focused in the gym as I used to. If everything goes well I'll start the swolecat female's program after I return. By going well, I mean my class schedule - I'll start my first year of animation studies in october. The schedule seemed pretty tight, but I really want to do the program so I'll try hard to find time.

Hey, I am still going. Just posting to my journal more than here. It was getting tedius posting to both each day, though I should have posted here on Saturday for my weighin.

BTW Gila, good luck on the vacation :) It is something that everyone needs once in a while. I am taking a 4 day vacation next week. Also, I know it is in another post, but you look great with your hair short too.

Gila, have fun on your trip.

Buddha, I've been following your journal and can definitely see the changes you've made. Keep up the good work.

The past 3 days have been really good. My diet has been perfect, haven't been tempted at all. My workouts and cardio are going well also.

I really am tempted to weigh myself but will restrain myself. If I can keep my diet perfect and do all my workouts I think seeing a big drop in lbs the next time I weigh myself would be a real boost for my self esteem.

My short term goal is to lose as much fat as possible by the 3rd week of September which is when I will weigh myself.

Buddha - I check on your progress pics from time to time and you're doing great!!! That fat just melts away!

Weekend totally wrecked me. The week I had a perfect diet but the weekend was a struggle. I have continued doing my normal workouts though and haven't skipped any. Overall though I think my diet is coming around. Before when I was really struggling my diet during the week was also horrible. Now I'm back to good weeks and bad weekends. I was able to skip my weigh in, I get really tempted to weigh myself sometimes but haven't given in yet.

My lifting is getting better. I haven't increased my lifting weight or anything but my form is getting better.

The next few weeks will be tough. I start grad school to get an MS in physics on the 29th (a subject that I didn't get my bachelors in). And I'm working fulltime right now also. I really hate this job but want to save up as much money as possible from it. I'll stick with it as long as I can though but I know I will eventually be leaving that job. I feel bad about it because the boss thinks I like it there and they probably believe they have that position filled and don't need to look for anyone (not that it would be tough to replace me, one call to a temp agency and they'd be okay). It's really stressful though, I wish I could not have to feel that guilt and just feel confident about everything.

I had an upset stomach and had to stop running this morning. I did about 16 minutes only. Yesterday I had some sushi which I've noticed if I eat too much it will make me sick the next morning. Outside of that my eating and workouts have been good.

Slowly getting there. REALLY SLOWLY. Looking back at my stats it seems since February when I started eating better and working out I have been losing about 4 lbs a month. This July where my diet went south I more or less stayed the same. I'm slowly wrapping my mind around the diet thing.

Well...
I haven't posted in a while because I fell off the wagon...
I finally got back today!

So I did some morning cardio.
I'm a bit confused regarding weight lifting because I need to decide upon some things.

Anyway, don't have much to say, hope you all are doing well!

I just got back from a little vacation and gained about 4 lbs. Hoping it is mostly water weight, and will be off in 1-3 days. Starting back on the plan tomorrow.

Welcome back Buddha. Are you starting grad school soon? I start tomorrow, I'm nervous that I'm gonna go crazy or something trying to work full time and go to grad school.

I struggled with my eating this weekend, pretty much drank a lot of coke and ate some junk food. The upcoming week should be okay though, I feel I am getting back to eating perfectly during the week. I bought a bunch of blackberries after reading another thread on hear. They taste very good. I won't have a problem adding that to my normal diet at all.

I'm still lifting and still doing my normal morning jogs. I haven't done cardio in the weekends for awhile but I am sticking to the cardio 5 times a week. Next weekend I am going to try and at least do HIIT in the morning or evening.

Gila, what kind of lifting do you do? I mean is it at a Gym or mostly at home with free weights?

Buddha - welcome back! You'll shed those 4 pounds in no time!

Samir - Actually, lately I haven't been lifting at all :o As I mentioned, I fell of the wagon... I'm planning to get back in full power in October. When I did lift weights I would go to a gym.

For now I just do morning cardio.
---

So I did my morning cardio, and even had my first attempt at HIIT (22 minutes). Wasn't that bad at all. I really need to work on my sprinting!

I need to get my diet in tact!

Good luck, study hard and you will do great.

I just withdrew from school after like the first day of class. I got completely distressed by my whole situation. I didn't think I would be able to handle it. I regret not having been more ready. I may reapply next semester or wait a year and reapply in fall '06. I hate being the kind of person who gets stressed easily.

Gila, good luck with your routine it sounds good. Hope the double cardio goes well. Good job on running 6.2 miles/hr that sounds very painful to me :p . But hopefully I will be there one day too.

I haven't been eating enough lately. My nerves are getting to me but I have been eating healthy and doing my cardio and lifting. Though todays lifting was incomplete due to not having enough energy. Tomorrow I will try to eat more (healthy of course!) and drink more water.

Samir - Err.... I didn't mention running that fast... I really wish I could though! :p BTW, is there a reason you don't eat enough? Not feeling hungry or something? Because I have this problem sometimes too!

I didn't do cardio this morning because I ran both in the morning and in the evening yesterday, and I felt it would be too stressing to run today aswell.

I tihnk I am going crazy. I could have sworn I read that somewhere.

Lately I haven't been feeling hungry mostly because of stress. I usually feel slightly queasy when I get distressed and that pretty much kills my appetite. Outside of that I have no trouble eating :eat: . It's my whole situation with work and thoughts of wanting to go back to school that are making me stressed out. Tons of indecision which is feeding this uneasy feeling I get.

Oohhhhhhhhh!! thought you were referring to my latest posts....
Yeah I did ran that fast but it was on a threadmill, and it's so easy to run on a threadmill... The thing just rolls - all you have to do is bring one foot in front of the other. I'd never be able to run that fast outdoors which is what I've been doing lately.

I'm with you on the tons of indecision's stress! I've been feeling very uneasy about my choice of studies lately, not being sure wether that was the right thing to study. I keep telling to myuself that sometimes one just has to have faith. Though I find it easier said than done.

As for the workouts and such, I'll probably not be able to do much for the next few days because there are lots of preparations that take time and ebergy :( . I havn't even ran for 2 days already!!! :( :(

I know what you mean about the treadmill. I'd love to go running outside but with my early morning job the treadmill is the most convenient way for me to get my cardio in. Maybe when I leave this job I will be able to create a routine the way I want it to be and have running outdoors be a part of it.

Another day of eating well and getting my workouts done. I didn't feel as good about my lifting but got through it. Also during my morning cardio I felt especially fatigued but still got through that also.

I am both dreading and looking forward to my weigh in in two weeks. It would be terribly depressing to not see much change in weight.

Three day weekends are NOT good for eating clean. I'm basically back to the pattern I was at before July, Eating clean 5 days then eating bad 2 days. I am still seeing progress just very very slowly. It seems like a problem I read about a lot on these boards though. Tomorrow I am going to do a thorough search of these boards and see what advice people have posted and try to take some new plan of action.
