When you are an active person, in term of cardiovascular exercises like sports is your heart beat suppose to be slower or faster than the average person? I'm asking this because my doctor told me that my heart beat is too slow (he even asked me if I don't get quickly exhausted doing sports), and the answer is no! I can play basketbayy continuesly for 2-3 hours (of course a time out here and there ;) )
And another dumb question, is heart beat and heart rate the same? :o

If you are in very good shape and are active, as it seems you are, then yes it is true that you would have a slower resting heart rate than others. A professor I had a quarter or two ago said that one of his best friends ran 15 miles a day and had a resting heart rate of 42 beats per minute (bpm). Obviously the more physically fit you are the more efficient your body works.
The opposite is true for overweight people. The reason the majority of overweight people have high blood pressure and heart problems is because 1) there is more tissue that needs to be supplied with blood which calls for faster pumping and 2) the lack of activity weakens the heart muscles which causes the heart to work twice as hard to keep up with bodily demands.
Heart rate and heart beat are the same thing (both are measured in bpm).
Hope that helps.
