My parents sent me a stack of health magzines after I told them about my weight loss plans. While some were definitely better than others, I was surprised at the sheer amount of sexual 'performance enhancing' ads. More powerful this! Stronger, longer, that! You know what I'm talking about
I thought Men's Fitness was the best of them all (the writing was much better, and they have lifestyle stuff, too) and there were still a lot of these ads. Shouldn't these kinds of magazines be encouraging people in their efforts, rather than prey on their (most likely unfounded) insecurities? I just can't see the motives of a publisher that seeks to profit from these kinds of ads.

Face it- the purpose of any media company is to make money off of you, the consumer. They don't actually care whether they help you or not. They have to walk a fine line between offering things you actually want to read and utter crap, so that you'll keep buying the mag and one day maybe buy that enhancement you saw the ad for. They dangle shiny articles and information in your face about a topic that interests you, and they use that interesting topic to make other judgements about you. If you aren't happy with the state of your health and feel the need to buy a magazine for guidance, there's a chance you're not happy with your sex life or the size of your penis. Don't ever think any media company ever has your best interests at heart.

Yeah I agree, I used to buy magazines but got sick of them.
I would get Men's Health every month and it was good but I got sick of seeing the same stuff every month, like 'how to build a massive chest' or 'get great arms in 3 weeks', They didnt really offer any special or helpful advice, just promises of quick results. They do have some good articles but I'd rather learn practical, free and reliable info from places like these forums.
Having said that, Mens Health is great compared to magazines like 'Flex'.

I like reading them. They make me laugh.
