I don't know how many here are car enthusiasts, but I am and so is my dad.
Anyway, this is his dream car and it will be finished the day after memorial day. The motor is a 572 horsepower 602 lb/ft 460 ci bored to 514 ci. this car is absolutely sick.
Enjoy:

If you've got pics too post them please :D . Show off your pride and joy (vehicle wise). I searched and couldn't find another post like this, sorry if I didn't look hard enough.

That is slick. I like the paint. Bad ass. Keep us posted.... are you guys building it yourselves?

There's a few other "car" threads floating around, I'll pass on posting my cars here. The forum knows my hardware by now.

I know someone here in Orlando that had a 514-powered Cobra replica. It was painted blue w/ orange stripes (the car was UF/Florida Gator themed)... made 750-HP at the wheels (I saw the dyno graph myself! It was sick...). He ended up selling it, saying it was too much power and the 514 made it a bit too nose heavy (he liked to autocross). You don't hear gearheads say the words "too much power" very often, but at 750 ponies, I'd have to agree. My best dyno for my LS1 corrects to 441-HP. The car is a sunny-day only option to drive. On drag radials in the rain, you're just asking for trouble.

We aren't building it ourselves. It came from a company in south africa called Superformance. They produce one if not THE highest quality S/C replicas. The car comes as a rolling chassis and the guys at reed performance are putting the drive train in. The paint is black w Titanium ghost stripes. The motor comes from raceparts distribution (RDI). They had to kind of tune it down so it would be driveable. One of the guys at RDI told my father they could have easily made it a 700 + motor but it wouldn't have really been driveable. With the 460 big block this car doesn't have too far from a 50/50 weight distribution. I'll have a detailed photo walkthrough of pickup day after memorial day.

Freaking awesome.

I just got my license... Want. To. Drive. All. The. Time!

When I have a little more income than none, I'll prolly become a car enthusiast too

Beautiful car. How much did it cost to restore that car, if you don't mind me asking?

It's not a real Shelby. One of those would go for upwards of 1 million probably. It's a replica.

My bro is really into this. He hot rods various things. His best results were a 40's ford truck, a Willys, and I think a 36 Deuce? Not sure on the year. The truck was a killer... somehow he squeezed in the bored-out restored V8 from our 74 Impalla wagon... vroom. :o He was in an accident and took the settlement money and built a shop. 3,000 sqft to play with his cars. The cobra rep looks sweet.

Unlike my bro, I'd prefer to have a vintage model fully restored.

Yeah, that would be neat too. I was mainly talking about a 65'. There's just something weird to me about owning a 2002 Shelby 427. 2002 just doesn't seem right to be in front of the name Shelby for some reason to me. I'm strange I guess. Not that I wouldn't take it in a second though :D .

I wanted one of those, but couldn't fork over the insurance so I had to go with a Mazda3 2.3 5 door.

Love the rims, Kirby. I'm thinking about a set similar to those for my Mustang... if it ever gets painted.

Yea... insurance is quite fun. 1400 a year and the payments are 500 a month... thank God I'm still living with mommy and daddy. :D

They are 20" TSW Catalunya's. I was afraid 20"s would be to big but they don't look like 20"s on the car, the wheel wells are huge. Check out streetdreams.org, they have some good prices.

WOW... that is sharp!
On a sad note... a cat ran into the front of my mustang last night. I was going about 55-60mph. It destroyed my front bumper and busted a big crack in the radiator, empty in less than 5 minutes. I hit a cat and had to have the car towed! :d_frown: My insurance people rock and have everything under control though... I had a hot date setup for Saturday... now we will be rolling in a rental :o
