Hi,
I was just wondering what I could do about these streatch marks. You see, I'm 14, and yeah I know that's young, but I have streatch marks up and down my thighs, and they are spreading to my hips. The more weight I lose, the more streatch marks I get! I weigh 140lbs, but I don't look like I weigh that much! I have a weird bunch of friends, and we've started comparing weights, and the first time, we had to guess eachothers weight. Well, for me they guessed 115, and when I told them how much I really weighed they were shocked, b/c the way I'm built it really doesn't show. But lately, I've been getting these ugly streatch marks on my legs, and it makes me want to cry! I hate them! I just need an easy way to make them go! I've tryed diff. lotions, but they haven't been working, so, if any other people who've gotten their's to go away, please tell me how, and don't say that it just takes time, b/c it's almost summer and I don't want to wear shorts over my swim-suit! I'm cutting back on my food intake, and I always worked out, but I NEED them to go away! Please give me some advice!

I don't think you are actually getting new stretchmarks. What happened to me was that as I lost weight the stretchmarks that were already there moved closer together and got kinda "compacted" I guess you could say.

The only thing that really helps stretchmarks is father time. Other than that try getting a tan.

There is no magic bullet :d_frown:

I had something similar happen to me at your age-what you are experiencing is not uncommon. It is a normal part of what happens when your body is going through puberty. I grew 6 inches in about 2 months and lost some weight from doing sports and that is why I got them. They do fade over time and tanning does help. Also, buy some plain old cocoa butter and apply it faithfully. It will not make them disappear but they will fade more quickly than just time alone.

Do not worry about your friends' or other peoples' reactions to them. If your friends laugh at you-to your face or behind your back-they are not good friends. At your age you are young enough to make new friends. Also, chances are that at your age, people are too focused on what is going on in terms of their own body changes that they don't even notice yours. That is probably why you have not noticed stretch marks on your friends ;)

Take it from someone who had a really awful and awkward and way too early adolescence-it will go by faster than you think and people really are very focused on themselves. AND most importantly-NOT EVERYONE IS LOOKING AT YOU. It is natural to think so because you feel so freaked out about what is happening to you that you think EVERYONE must see it. Trust me-they don't. You will survive. I encourage you to wear shorts and show off your great legs-you are only young once. Enjoy yourself!

I grew pretty fast in a span of three years in Jr. High - high school. By my sophmore year, I was already 6"0. I did get some very thin, and very light silver stretch marks on my hips from growing so fast. They bothered me a bit. But I soon realized that those stretch marks were NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING compared to the deep thick purple gashes that I inherited from two pregnancies about 12 years later. :D There really isn't a whole lot you can do about it. A tan does make it look a little better. Are these stretch marks the thin ones or the thick gashes that look like a tiger clawed you? ;)

And don't worry about the weight thing. You could be 125 and have lots of muscle, or be 125 and have lots of fat. People are built differently. Worry more about how you feel and how your clothes feel and if you like what you see in the mirror. Hope this helps!

I got some stretch marks in high school due to growing quickly too. Like everyone else said, there is not much you can do. When I get a tan, my stretch marks are lighter so you can still see them a little bit. I don't have many, but they are right there on my upper thighs/hips *groan*. I didn't get those look like something clawed you ones thankfully. It has to do with the elasticity of your skin which can be genetic also. My mother had five children and no stretch marks on her stomach whatsoever (she teaches bellydance and shows here belly...nothing there!). I am like her, I did not get stretch marks from my three pregnancies either. My mother and I must have similar elasticity. But I do have some on my thighs/hips - but I have had those since high school. I have heard cocoa butter helps, but I don't think anything will take them away for good. :d_frown:
