If you've ever read a fitness magazine you know they all claim to have the best workouts and guarantee results in a specified amount of time. Well, now it's time to put one to the test. The training protocol I will be following can be found in the June issue of Men's Exercise magazine page 53. It claims "BIGGER BICEPS IN JUST SIX WEEKS". Now we all know that if I work out for 6 weeks i'll have bigger biceps no matter what, but i'm expecting exactly what the article says... "Wanna blow up your biceps like balloons? You have six weeks to do so." Enough said, I start on Monday.

Here's how i'll track the progress: On Monday i'll take pre-measurements with a Myotape. By the way, thanks so much iSatori - I love this thing... and it was free! Anyway, i'll be taking one measurement in a relaxed position and a second measurement in a flexed position. Each week I will re-take measurements and update my web site with pictures. Sounds like fun.

This is perfect timing because in 6 weeks I leave for my Florida vacation. With that in mind I will still need to continue eating lean. The supplements I will be taking are still up in the air right now. It's either going to be a Meta-CEL/NOX2 stack or a Meta-CEL/ISA-TEST stack. I'm most likely going with the first option because the ISA-TEST requires more fat and I can't afford to put on any fat.

Please keep in mind that I have a metal plate and screws in my right arm and it sits right up against my muscle tendons. Therefore, in the event I feel excessive pain or soreness I will have to dis-continue the challenge. Wish me luck!

MAY 31ST - END OF WEEK #1

Well, one week into the program and my biceps have grown. I can't believe how quickly I got results. My biceps were sore for almost all of last week so I know I was hitting them hard. I also increased my calorie and carb intake. Maybe some of the growth is fat?? Well, here are the measurements after week #1:

Arm straight out, unflexed:
Last Week = 11 1/8"
This Week = 11 5/16"
Total Growth = 3/16"

Arm bent at 90 degrees, unflexed:
Last Week = 11 1/2"
This Week = 11 3/4"
Total Growth = 1/4"

Arm bent at 90 degrees, flexed:
Last Week = 12 1/4"
This Week = 12 5/16"
Total Growth = 1/16"

There are so many factors involved that after week 1 I can't determine for sure if my biceps are growing. I may have put on extra fat (i did put on a few pounds this week), or I may be retaining more water, or my measurements weren't taken in the exact same spot. If this trend continues every week there's a better chance it's muscle that's being built. Until then it's too early to tell, however, i'm glad to see that they haven't shrunk :)

See ya next week.
