I recently read in a bodybuilding mag how green tea + caffine supposedly boosts metabolism while granting one numerous other health benefits (antioxidents, etc.). I was curious if there is any actual evidence of this working in a cut diet or decreasing appetite? i'm currently ingesting 2 bags of green tea w/ caffine (around 100 mg-8oz of coffee has around 90 mg) a day and it's not bad but does it serve a purpose other then making me feel zen-like?

If caffeine makes one more "awake" then it may gvie a person the sense he/she is more lively, therefore more likely to work harder during workouts. This is why it is suggested to have just a little bit of coffee or caffeine before a workout.

On the other hand, green tea in particular is a mystery to me too. Ephedra obviously will make one decrease their appetite and more energetic, but other than that I'm not sure. I'm curious too!

Green tea is great because of all the anti-oxidants. If you're on a cutting cycle where you have to avoid eating a lot of fruit, green tea is a great substitute. It has a lot of the same vitamins, but without the sugar.

Yeah, the antioxidants will be nice for the immune system. The caffine definently works like a charm as well; I took it 30 minutes prior to working out and felt a significant energy boost. "Most impressive"-Vadar However, I'm hoping that 110 mg of caffine/day for a few months won't make me an addict.
