View Full Version : Protein Bars-The Best? supermanwannabe Thu, May 12th, 2005, 07:10 PM Which protein bar is your favorite? I was hoping to purchase a protein bar w/ high protein (>20) that doesn't taste terrible. txitalian Thu, May 12th, 2005, 07:23 PM Probably the best, are the ones you make yourself. Here (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=10791) are a few recipes to get you started. jason Kino Thu, May 12th, 2005, 07:40 PM Tri-O-Plex Cookie Dough (http://www.dpsnutrition.net/product_information.asp?number=CJ007&back=yes&dept=1423&last=1423) ...Unfortunately I can't buy them because I have so self control with bars. They're even $2 less than the last time I bought a box. bagobonez Thu, May 12th, 2005, 08:33 PM I buy a protein bar named Xtreme from MLO nutrition. 30g of protein, supposedly 5g of creatine, and they taste great. Wal-mart has em for like $1.50 each. pinoyfitness Thu, May 12th, 2005, 08:44 PM not a big fan of protein bars.. all ive heard are negative things about them . Nothing beats a meal  :eat: Yukon Gold Mon, May 16th, 2005, 08:34 PM The best by far, as far as I'm concerned, are Tri-o-plex, especially caramel apple or peanut banana. But I can't buy them, for the same reason as stated above, they're too good and pack about 430 calories along with their 30g of protein and umpteen grams of sugar. I save them for post leg workout only, and only if I deserve it. I am planning on taking them golfing with me, they don't melt! jacqui Thu, May 19th, 2005, 11:55 AM I'm hooked on Snickers Protein Caramel nut Bars. But they are high in sugar, and like others here I save them for a weekend treat because I could probably eat three in a row. :o featherz Thu, May 19th, 2005, 11:57 PM I like biotest's new Grow bars - ingredients list isn't awful and they taste decent.. Plus they are cheap for protein bars ($39 for 36 bars) ! That said, I hardly ever eat a protein bar - I just keep one in my purse for those 'emergency' meals (forgot lunch, long meeting, extra hungry, whatever). hyoogeness Fri, May 20th, 2005, 06:24 AM I've yet to find a protein bar that has these requirements: + tasty + minimal fat and carbs + not loaded with sugar alcohol I've found somewhat good tasting bars with minimal fat and carbs, but killed my stomach b/c of sugar alcohol, bad tasting ones with minimal fat carbs and no sugar alcohol, and good tasting ones with lots of fat and carbs, but none that meet all 3 requirements. I'd be more inclined to just eat regular food. Zerebus Fri, May 20th, 2005, 10:30 AM I actually like the Snickers Marathon bars......... ........I won't say they're good for you, though. *cough* Ahem. Like another guy said, nothing beats a meal. Sole Fri, May 20th, 2005, 02:18 PM I also don't eat protein bars. Most are like candy bars with some whey protein added! Seriously, MetRx bars have more sugar than a Snickers! That being said, if you do find a quality bar with little sugar and saturated fat let me know! I don't even particularly care about the taste. ltz Fri, May 20th, 2005, 02:23 PM I eat the Protein Plus Power Bars. They taste great, I'm still getting results, and I swear the only reason I don't get cravings to cheat is because I eat them. I'd rather eat 1 every day or every other day and not cheat until the weekend, then take the chances of having a craving for something and then feeling guilty. |
