Sweet and sour is one of those sauces that you can have with pretty much ANY meat or even fish. So,it would be great to add some taste to some plain chicken breast or so. For a long time, I pretty much banned it from my diet due to it being WAY too high in carbs. Then, one day I thought, well, what is it actually made of to have so many cals? So,after checking out the ingredients of various sweet and sour sauces,I found that sugar (and honey in some) were bumping up the calories. So, I came up with my own low cal Sweet and Sour. Not sure of exact measurements but here's how you do it:
Vinegar
Soy sauce (low sodium kind)
Salt (low sodium, high potassium kind) like LoSalt
Garlic powder
Crushed chillies
A little bit of ketchup
Splenda or other sweetener
Optional: Olive oil (I add it to have a bit more healthy fats in my diet)

Put them all in a pot and simmer till it reduces to a thicker consistency. You can also use some tasteless protein from www.myprotein.co.uk just like you use flour to thicken the mixture. Great with chicken! You can also make fill a Pyrex with it, put a few chicken breasts in it, leave overnight to marinate, cook it the next day in the oven and oh, the chicken just soaks up the taste.
