Hi there guys/gals... I've heard that milk and other dairy product may result in puffiness in the face or water retention, right? I just want to ask you, "Are there any other food or drinks that may cause me to retain more water and make my face look puffy?"
I'm currently bulking right now, but I just can't stand it when I look in the mirror and see my face puffy  Thanks in advance for the replies...

sodium for one will make you retain water.

I started eating more Potassium rich foods like spinach and brocolli, drinking about 1.5 gals of water a day, and I also cut out about 1000mg per day of sodium from my diet.

I've noticed that my face isn't as puffy looking now. I've also seen some increased vascularity.

I also eat 3-5 serving or fruits daily, I also drink gallons of water, literally... But some food seems to make my face look puffy... I was hoping for list of food that people may be allergic to, like dairy and stuff. Are there any other food that people can be allergic to and react in the way of retaining water?

Looking back at my food log, I seem to found out the answer for my question. It seems that the white breads, pastries and cakes are the one doing damages in term of my puffy face  I hate to do this, but I really need to take them out entirely! I guess too much sugar turns your face puffy... But anyway, I hope cutting them out would be easy, since they almost have no nutritional value at all. My only problem is that these foods are my comfort foods! God, I really need to get rid of them :(

You might be allergic to dairy products and not even know it

I'm not sure if I'm allergic to dairy, I used to drink milk and eat cheese before but never had serious water retention, especially in the face area. But one thing I know, once I start cutting, I'll get rid of those pastries and breads. i don't have dairy in my diet, but I'm sure some of those breads and pastries contain some sort of dairy in them. Thanks for your replies guys... :tu:

Yeah, I am making progress alright... But who wouldn't? I mean my goal was to gain weight, I cared less whether it was fat or muscle. All I know is during this past month, I followed a Max-Ot and eat alot. So the extra cheat here and there didn't hurt my goal. :d_biggrin
But no need to worry, once I start cutting again, I'm gonna accompany you having the same comfort food, the good 'ol oatmeal and water

I also have fluctuating facial puffiness that has been driving me mad lately. I have tried all sorts of things to relieve it like self massage, topical fat burning supplements, working out, and diet cuts. Im really bad at diet cutting because im very underweight and it seems that any kind of food that could make your face fat is the really GOOD kind of food. Anyhow, I have read a lot about cutting dairy and sodium and whatnot but it really seems that sugar does most of the damage. I drink a LOT of instant iced tea and lately i have had a lot of jam on toast and my face is puffier than ever. Maybe we should be looking more into this sugar thing.

Ah, yes... The sugar craze! I do believe that sugar does more damage (in term of puffy face, rather than sodium which is supossed to make you retain water). I solution I've found for puffy face is cut out as much simple sugar as possible! :tu:

Flour does the same thing to me. I look at some older pictures where I still had puppy fat but at least it wasnt this nasty stay-puff marshmallow look I got goin' on now. It's only been in the past few yrs that fast food has been so readily available to me and pasta / bread has become a staple.

You know it's funny, I was just at my dad's and he had some pictures of him while in Arizona at a restaurant recently. We (him, his wife and me ) were all talking about how puffy he looked in this one picture. I asked him if it was taken after he ate and he told me that yes, he had had a big meal of pasta. So now he knows why he looked like that.

I think flour bloats a person more so than dairy but it could be different for everyone.

Well yes, this could be true, especially white flour. It's absorbed very fast by the blood sugar, having the same effect as a sugar would cause... "So if you want a non-puffy face, eat healthy!" ;)
