View Full Version : Fruit/Milk/ Undo'ing Cheats
LarryNC Sat, May 7th, 2005, 11:03 PM Hello, time to ask some questions to clear the mind up, please reply with what ever you think.
1) Why do some individuals not like eating fruit/milk because of the sugar in them? And why would it be good to eat them / not eat them? Request Jeremy Likness to answer this (please:))
2) Say you cheat with unhealthy food.. is is possible to turn it into an uncheat? Kind of like if you have a few cookies and some icecream, can you take that downfall and make it less of a bad thing if you ate more healthier foods when you did the cheat?
Andrew Sun, May 8th, 2005, 11:31 AM You can't "undo" eating a food that you already ate...but if you typically eat healthy foods, cookies and ice cream once in a while isn't going to kill you if that's what you mean.
But don't just eat MORE healthy food to try to balance it out if you're trying to lose weight. That'll result in a lot more calories.
I think that makes sense...
Demon Knight Sun, May 8th, 2005, 05:11 PM Fruit juice has sugars while milk has lactose which is a type of sugar. People avoid juice because of the insuling spike and also coz it is not very filling for the amount of calories you get. For example, it takes longer and is more filling to eat four apples (50g carbs) than to drink a large glass of apple juice (50g carbs). I ain't had juice in a long time but have been having 2-3 portions of fruit a day. Milk I still have. One pint in the morning and another pint (protein shake) post workout. I really don't think you should avoid milk (except if you're lactose intolerant). Firstly, it has calcium which is very important for strong bones and when on a high protein diet your body tends to use more calcium. Secondly, I drink semi-skimmed milk which has 8g fat per pint. This'll definitely slow down absorption of the lactose so it won't make your insulin spike....I don't think.
If you cheat with unhealthy food, you CAN'T take it back. Unless you throw it all up  If you eat a cookie instead of an apple, just keep accept it. Don't eat the apple in hope of making the cookie go away. You're just adding calories. Eating a small cookie is not as healthy as an apple but its around the same calories so live on.....
JeremyLikness Sun, May 8th, 2005, 05:59 PM (1) People don't like eating fruit because it contains sugars, and they believe in the myth that sugars are bad. They hear this in some popular programs, but the information is all wrong. Most of these programs say sugar causes a steep rise in blood sugar as well as an insulin spike. This isn't true. It is true for REFINED sugar, and even true for some foods that are not classified as sugars, such as baked potatoes and maltodextrin. So the myth is completely invalid - eating fruit is fine. Drinking fruit makes it easy to get a lot of calories, which is fine if you are bulking but can be counterproductive if you are cutting.
The only issue I have with milk is that many people are allergic to it and don't even know it, so they have puffy faces and hold onto water and stress their immune system by taking in dairy all the time.
(2) Best way to undo a cheat meal is to get on the treadmill for a few hours.

ucbgsr Sun, May 8th, 2005, 06:11 PM Yes, the sugar from fruit (fructose) isnt a simple monosaccaride, but instead a more complex disaccaride. This it isnt as easily absorped as many people believe. The chain must first be broken in order for the body to use the glucose molecule
There are actually a lot of foods out there with much higher GIs than most raw fruit.
