Hey, guys good news. Yesterday was my 21st birthday and I went the whole day without drinking. Yeah, unfortunately I ate some cake and some pizza, but it was my B-day so I guess its OK. Well I did not cheat too much yesterdayjust had a cheat dinner and some cake and the rest of the day was "pretty" clean. Unfortunatly my GF, baked me a cake for this weekend to have a B-day party since all of my friends were working or at school yesterday. I guess my strategy is to eat clean the entire day and have that 1 slice of B-day cake to make my GF feel good about it since she made it. Well, Thats about it wanted to know if anyone else manages "damage control" on thier special occasions or if they just "cut-loose"?

Take Care

:claplow: :claphigh: First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Now my opinion...

I am more of a "re-born eater" if I may say so. My changes and the changes I make with my food intake I want them to be for life, not just for a cutting period. I prefer to go slow but go firmly rather than go too hard on myself and give it all away in a craving moment. I had a transition period when I was reducing the amount of food I ate and now I am choosing what I eat in a sensible way. I don't eat fried food at all and that is my statement. I hardly touch a sweet by nature I'm not a "sweets" girl fortunately. But there are other things I kill for such as pizza, lasagna... tha Garfield thing, know what I mean?... But anyway don't be too hard on yourself. You did the right thing by eating the piece of cake if nothing else because your gf baked it so lovingly!

My birthday is coming up too and I went through the same question but I thought "well, it is one day in the year and a little piece won't be a world of damage! I'll run an extra hour the next morning! ;)

Take care!

Happy birthday! Sounds like you celebrated well -- celebrate, yes, but in moderation.

Eating clean? That's not celebrating. On the other hand, eating an entire large pizza? There's not much to celebrate there, either. Something else is going on (gluttony, lack of self control, self-esteem issues, etc.) if you eat an entire large pizza. That's my thought on the subject.

So, to me, it sounds like you celebrated well. Congrats on another year.

Happy birthday! I certainly let loose for mine. I was around 10% bodyfat (general state for several years) and not trying to cut, but I don't think I would've done anything differently if I had been. You seem to still be having full-blown cheat days, so I don't see why you wouldn't indulge a little this weekend. Your 21st birthday is celebration is not something you can ever get back! But I don't know how much foor would add to the enjoyment of my birthday. Don't make it an all-out cheat day. I would have a small piece of cake as you said since your girfriend went to the trouble to make it. I'd enjoy whatever dinner you choose to have whether it's junky kind of party food or dinner at a nice restaurant. Then I'd go out and have a big party night with your girlfriend and friends. Added bonus: if you do it right, you'll be sleeping it off the next day and eating below maintentance when you do wake up.

Thanks Guys,

Well, Like I said I did maintain a good composure during yestardays little cheat session. As for this weekend I will also take it easy maybe have a little cake and thats it, cause all-in-all I turn 21 only once so I'll live up that moment. Thanks everyone.

Happy birthday.

You did well enough. Don't dwell on it. Life happened, or something, as Jeremy Likness would put it (more or less).

Last week I ate at restaurants 3 evenings in a row due to attending a trade show. Damage limitation: pick fish where available from the menu, no dessert etc... anyway, I managed to shed a pound during my trip. And just before I travelled it was my son's 5th birthday. I also had a (small) slice of his cake. Got to get your priorities in order. In my case, I want a long life largely because of him. Least I can do is share in the birthday cake!!! It counts as part of the quality time, you know.

You know what, I think I would not have had the pizza AND the cake on the same day. Perhaps. Possibly. Depending on how big the slices were.

But it's not that important. At 21 years old, you have around 100 years of good meals to look forward to!

So a couple of exceptions are ok. :)

Vincent.

Being 21 is a war, you survived one of the 365 battles in the war. You'll be 21 for a long time! haha :D
