View Full Version : Numb sensation in my back after cardio
jbob April 13th, 2005, 06:49 PM After im done with a good cardio session or a intense lifting sesson I have this baseball sized area on my back, about half way up on my right side that is totally numb.
I have never had any injuries to my back but I also hate doctors so I thought I might ask you guys, I am on a cutting diet 2500 cals per day.
If this is posted in the wrong area, I apologize in advance :tu:
Anyone give me some advice?
Hort April 13th, 2005, 09:32 PM Any other back issues? Any discomfort or pain? Sounds like "no".
Are you heavy or lean? Could be a nerve being impinged maybe?
What's your blood pressure like?
jbob April 14th, 2005, 02:42 AM Im heavy, approx 24% BF. I havent checked my bloodpressure for some time, the last time I had it checked, it was higher than normal. I assumed it would level out since I corrected my eating habits, mabey I need to get it checked.
Chameleon April 14th, 2005, 12:54 PM ummm... I would not F with a back problem... GO TO YOUR DOCTOR... your spine is a VERY important and very esential part of your body, this could be a nerve problem, it could be a muscle problem, it could be ANYTHING but only a doctor will know for sure. We are not doctors here (at least I don't think we have any doctors on the board - I could be wrong) we are fitness enthusiasts, we can answer some fitness related injury questions but you should still see your doctor if your injured, this board should not replace your doctor... just trying to help man... good luck and I hope it's something simple and easily taken care of ;)
jbob April 14th, 2005, 01:27 PM Thanks Chameleon, I dont have health insurance atm, thats kinda why I hate doctors ;)
Today, after cardio, it wasnt numb, it comes and goes that why I was hoping that someone here might have experienced something similar.
I do cardio on a treadmill if that makes a difference.
I think I just might have to go see the doc, theres just other things I could do with the money.. steak dinner to name one :spaz:
The Bied April 14th, 2005, 01:39 PM I know this is going to sound weird, but.... what is your calorie intake like?
I had the SAME exact sensation in the SAME exact area when I first started working out two years ago. I thought it was a pinched nerve or a sore muscle, but it was actually my body's way of telling me that I was in starvation mode. My calories were so low that my organs were going into shock, and giving me horribly numb sensations in my back and my side. Once I brought my calories up to a normal level, it went away very quickly.
jbob April 14th, 2005, 02:30 PM My target calorie intake with a 1,000 cal deficit is around 2400 cals. and thats about what I take in every day, some days I take in alittle less.
I might have to re-examine my diet and make sure im not starving myself, but im pretty sure im not. im making gains on my lifting, which tells me im maintaining at the least my muscle mass and im still consistantly losing 2lbs a week.
another thing to mention is that I do fasted cardio, I wake up very hungry and still do 45 mins of cardio with 2 min warmup and cooldown before eating and even then, its another 45 mins before I take in any protien and then another 15+ minutes before I have any carbs.
thanks for the thoughts.
