View Full Version : Its spring! Time for another car thread!
Emilio April 13th, 2005, 06:37 AM Well its that time again. So lets hear what you are shining up this weekend or just took out of storage.
My Car:
00 v6 Honda Accord Coupe

Just got her lowered... going back tuesday possibly to get my rear camber kit put on and my rear brakes redone..
I'll get more pics on like saturday or sunday after I detail her.
So guys and gals feel free to post pics and info about your cars.
Bluestreak April 13th, 2005, 08:31 AM I've never shown you guys this car. This is my 1973 Pontiac Grandville, about 1/2 restored, de-mothballed about a month ago. It has been stored in my garage for over three years.
This car is one of 227 convertibles built for the 1973 model year, one of 62 with the Pontiac 400 H.O., 290-HP 4-bbl engine. It has 94,000 original miles. The car was built on November 16th, 1972 - which is one year and two weeks before *I* was born (thanks to Pontiac Historical Services for that info... they keep immaculate records!). A testament to American automotive engineering that it runs as good as it does after 30+ years. It's so comfortable to drive - this car floats over the road. I have yet to drive a car that's as comfortable and as much fun to drive. It turns heads where ever I take it, and it's not even finished yet.
TheRyanator April 13th, 2005, 10:18 AM Sweet ride Bluestreak!! That is a sharp car!
So I was downtown Naperville last weekend and we had parked in a five story parking garage with a great view...I turned to my wife on the way out and said "it would be cool if I got my car (BMW 328i) buffed and waxed and then we came up here super late some night and you took some pictures of me and my car with the awesome view in the background." ....
She just did not understand....
andy_W April 13th, 2005, 10:18 AM Cool, another car thread :)
I think the last time we had one of these I still had my Audi S4 Avant ... well, I sold that to free up some funds, and bought a cheap runabout ....
BMW M3 :)

Like... these? ;) I posted these ages ago.
Get to know the timer function on your camera and go do it yourself. Get a fat cigar... and take a late night drive to the top of the garage. Park under a light and leave your camera on auto-exposure. Don't use the flash - but but be sure not to move as your camera will leave the shutter open longer to expose the film (or in the case of your digi-cam, it'll expose the CCD longer). If you move, it'll blur the picture.

TheRyanator April 13th, 2005, 12:17 PM yup, those are the ones that put the thought in my head :D ...I am so bad with cameras...and she absolutely awesome.
raptor April 13th, 2005, 04:00 PM I actually washed the trans-am this morning before work. It's supposed to be a high of 68 today and it looks absolutely beautiful outside. Not bad considering it was snowing a few days ago.
Now to find a way to leave work early and go crusing up in the mountains. :(
PeteBDawg April 13th, 2005, 05:04 PM Hey! X to the Z Xzibit! Please, pimp my (http://www.mta.info/nyct/service/cline.htm) ride!

Bluestreak April 14th, 2005, 11:27 AM Anybody own a bmw 6 series?
Nope.
But... two separate clients of mine have a fetish for high end German hardware. One has a Mercedes S600 and the other has a BMW 760il. Both are V12 cars. I've driven both. :D Talk about effortless acceleration... man, those cars were a dream to drive. A little to fancy for my tastes, and obviously... the price tag is what your "normal" person considers a small mortgage.

Ford did well. I'm thinking it might be coming time to add a new pony to the stable... maybe for the wife in a while. Maybe even a droptop when the hype over them cools off... strap a Kenne Bell on it...
Very sweet Mustang, man. I love the interior.

Emilio April 14th, 2005, 07:50 PM Strona - You didn't do the Euro pickup? Any reason? God thats a beautiful car though. I really love the M series. Its just pure sex on wheels with luxury and power to boot!
wh0rume April 14th, 2005, 07:55 PM jesus... am i the only non-wealthy person on these forums?
FINE!!! here is my ride.
...from the makers of the corvette... the 2001 chevey cavalier
* 105 gut-wrenching horses
* automatic transmission
* and a manly 33 miles per gallon
* 0-60 in slightly under 13 seconds.
Emilio April 14th, 2005, 08:03 PM lol I'm far from rich... my wopping 200hp isn't jaw dropping either so don't fret! Oh and my automatic tranny isn't exactly the most fun. But hey its my dd and is awesome in the winter and I love getting 27mpg on the highway so it works for me.
Kino April 14th, 2005, 08:13 PM No...I'm in the non-wealthy catagory myself. My primo ride at the moment is an "04" Hyundai Sonata GLS. There's not another one like it anywhere in my apartment buildings parking lot. With it's 4 speed SHIFTRONIC manual shift mode...I don't want to see anybody pulling up next to me wanting to run. I'm getting ready to pimp it out with a Saris roof rack, kayak and bike carriers...Yeah...IT'S BAD.
Bluestreak April 14th, 2005, 08:15 PM I just make it look good. I am nowhere near rich.
For 7 years in the Florida heat I drove a barebones 1993 Hyundai Excel with no air conditioning so I could save money for my first house, first car, and pay off my school debts as soon as I got out of college. Careful financial planning rocks freakin' hard.
And four years of engineering school and the subsequent 70 hour work weeks helps. :tucool: It ain't free money.

Last time on the dyno, it put down 376 RWHP, 358 RWTQ. Corrected numbers (i.e., the "published" numbers you'd see splashed on the TV screen during commercials) would be approximately 442 HP, 421 TQ. Every single modification has been performed by yours truly with the exception of welding the exhaust in. Only thing I never learned about cars how to run a bead.
Best ET is an 11.88 @ 118.5 MPH (with a 1.87 - 60'). Nitto 315 DR's out back (24-psi in each) and BF Goodrich KD's up front. No weight reduction at all, I ran that time in full street trim as I would drive the car any old day. I don't race the car much anymore because I need to go to a 12-bolt. I'm putting all that power through the stock 7.5" rear - it's the only "unbeefed" up portion of the car. It was either a new rear end or a week in Jamaica. You can guess which one I picked.

OH MY GOD! If there ever was a sexy car!!!
Mine is a humble Reno 19 year 1994. I'm not even gonna attach pictures, lol!
Well, it suits me, me being a poor student and all ;) That and the cars in Israel being awfully expensive! Damn 150% taxation!!!
Kirby28Softball April 15th, 2005, 08:54 AM Yea.. I'm definitely not rich either... especially with the 500 a month payments :D But I just got done with college and decided to treat myself since I had been driving a 91 Saturn SL with 85 HP!!!! Stay in school kids! :tu:

Tack on as much extra to your principle as you can afford to. I paid my car off a year early doing that - it was so worth it and it cut way down on the interest charges I would have paid for the loan, too. I saved thousands by paying it off in 4+ years rather than the 66 months I originally financed it for. There's no more satisfying feeling than the day you get your title in the mail, and then your car is truly, 100% yours...

That is what you consider a cheap runabout over there eh? Ahh, too bad...what is a NICE car there? I mean, yeah its older, but it IS an M3. I know here in the states that is a fairly coveted car.

Nice, I was considerig purchasing one of those myself. How have you liked it, or have you not and that is why you are selling it? Are they good cars overall? recommend or not recommend?
FYI, I am just asking out of curiosity, I have decided not to by one and keep my BMW for the time being.

I was just joking about the cheap runabout, but it did cost less than half what I sold my S4 for ... and less than a third what I bought the S4 for ... in fact it cost about the amount I lost on the S4 in 18 months :(
The M3 is definitley a desirable car over here too, but a 10 year old one is fairly affordable compared to a new model :tu:
... it's still the cheapest car I've bought in the last 10 years ... don't think I would buy a new or nearly new car again. I'm just waiting for the e46 M3 prices to come down into my price range , although that might take a few years!!!
One like this would be fine :tucool:

Honestly, the car is freakin sweet. I absoulutely love it, but with two caveats. For one, I have recently found myself in need of a bigger vehicle - I have to do 'client' stuff, etc, plus I find myself in constant need for some space to move things around.
For two, I'm from the bay area (north bay). Some of the best driving roads are up there, and from where I grew up there was about 15 different roads that could give varying degrees of fun runs - from 5 minute high speed chicanes to 2 hour back country blasts. In Long Beach - its stop and go traffic from my apt to my office and back. It takes me 45 minutes to get out to the closest canyon run (out in Orange County) and even that fills up with idiots in minivans. So I can't really use the car for what it is, ya know?
As soon as I sell her, I'm going to pick up a Chevy Trailblazer EXT. My goal though is sometime late summer to pick up a 79 240Z, strip it down, and make a weekend racer out of that (so I can get my driving endorphins)
All in all, great car. No mechanical probs except for a window motor failure. Fun as all hell. I just need a bigger ride. :(
Dave (is gonna miss her, also used to own a 300zx that was great too)
Chris April 15th, 2005, 07:06 PM I really like the new bodystyle.
I wouldn't exactly call it a "new" body, more like re-defined, but either way, it was great seeing Ford go back to their roots in terms of design on the Mustang  *That's not my car, but I wish it was :D *
BusyChild April 16th, 2005, 05:53 PM Here's my low cost vehicle. Just got it today. The main reason I got it was to get to and from the gym. My gym is moving across town and I need a ride.
Mooshie April 18th, 2005, 01:11 AM Bought this 2001 Corvette Z06 off Ebay and spent 3 months rebuilding it with my father. Just got it back from the paint shop on Friday. I'm pleased with the work they did although we had to go up there pretty much every day and make sure things were going smoothly.
Car had been bit just behind the front left tire. Took about 2500 in parts + 1400 in paint work. We came out pretty good for a car with only 19,000 miles and looks brand new on the inside.

It's a 1983 Ford Capri. It was originally designed at the end of the sixties as a european answer to the mustang. What do you guys think? It could do with a nice set of alloys I know! But I love the shaoe of the car. As for the other cars in this thread, I love the new Mustang and the original Mustangs that have been posted, plus the M3s are cool too. But I'm more than happy with my Capri

We (the states) had the Mercury Capri (which is probably owned by ford ) which was very similiar.
When I was real young a friend of mine had one of these and we raced around at ridiculous speeds listening to the Scorpions 'Rock you like a Hurricane'.
Now every time I hear that song I think of that summer and that car which at the time I really wanted to get.

A friend of mine has one that he's done some work on, here's some pics of it (http://www.nikiatkins.com/capri/). Click on 'In Progress' to see what it looks like right now. He's going through a 'fixer upper' stage in his life right now I think. He bought a 1987 RX-7 a month or so ago and is fixing it up right now. :)
