LarryNC April 12th, 2005, 04:55 PM I have found the best way to respond to:
Come on eat Soandso food, it won't hurt you!
Quip:
It won't benefit me either.
omg it makes them quiet down so easy lol i love it
LuFega April 12th, 2005, 05:10 PM Darn, if only I would have read this poast 5 minutes ago. I could have passed on that piece of cake.
Oh well....
Wilderbeast April 12th, 2005, 05:59 PM Tried that one before. The next responce was if it wont harm you and it wont benefit you then the impact is nothing . Might aswell eat the cake !!!!!
BD231 April 12th, 2005, 06:19 PM Sometimes ya'win, sometimes ya'loose. Great way to look at it Larry!
Caruthias April 12th, 2005, 08:38 PM I have found the best way to respond to:

Quip:
Yes it will. I'm currently cutting down my bodyfat and "soandso" would disrupt my diet. Maybe not by much, but enough to make eating it not worth it, in my opinion.
Fixed for me!
AgentX April 12th, 2005, 08:45 PM If they retort "But it's good!". Use G.E. Moore's open ended question, "But is it so?" Meaning, what makes that particular thing, good? For Moore "good" was an indefinable, non-natural property...
And yeah, you pretty much got them wanting to change subjects then. Philosophy nerd << :o
don_1987 April 12th, 2005, 10:49 PM For me, the respond for this is, " :d_smile: " Really, they won't even bother asking again... Just be sure to be polite and avoid saying the phrase, "Sorry, I'm on a diet"
Human Clay April 12th, 2005, 11:01 PM I'd like to ask people who say that if I can try throwing the food at them, you know, to test that theory

I would just say I only eat things that benefit me!
hey everyone lets try to create a fake Quip conversation so in case someone asks us to eat cake or something that we have the defencive skills ready at hand! :)
Chameleon April 13th, 2005, 09:29 AM what I love are the people who say crap like... "you're so skinny... one piece won't hurt you"
my respose is usually... "what? do you think I got this way by eating cake*?"

williamso April 13th, 2005, 11:00 AM what? do you think I got this way by eating cake*?
Great response! I love it. I'm sure to use it when someone says that to me someday. I'll jump for joy that day!

I hardly get asked anymore for this reason. Plus if you ignore the cake is there, they tend to leave you alone. Take an interest and check it out and people tend to want you to have some more.

philph April 13th, 2005, 03:25 PM "Oh, come on, one piece of cake isn't going to hurt you!"
"Well you eat it then."
Vincent April 13th, 2005, 06:21 PM "One piece won't hurt you".
- I think it will, it's looking at me all funny. I don't like it.
- Cake makes me ill, if I eat it, then I have to go to the toilet.
- I have an allergy to cake.
- I have this strange illness. If I eat too much simple sugars, I start dribbling and farting uncontrollably.
Vincent.

LarryNC April 13th, 2005, 10:58 PM I used to say;
"I'm allergic, If I eat anything unhealthy, I balloon up uncontrolibly!" (They don't realize I am saying that I'll just get bigger, harhar!)
Caruthias April 13th, 2005, 11:13 PM No. No, my grandmother was killed by a piece of cake. It was chocolate. There were little coloured sprinkles on top. Those sprinkles laughed at me as she died. She was on the ground, turning blue, and those sprinkles were fucking LAUGHING at me. I remember I looked to my grandmother as she died, she looked right up into my eyes. She didn't say anything, but I understood her all the same. Don't eat anymore cake, Johnny, her eyes said. Not chocolate, not vanilla, not cheesecake. No cake. There were tears in my eyes. "Yes, Gran," I managed to sputter out, my eyes red and my nose runny. My other relatives looked at me, not comprehending, but my grandmother understood. I saw it in her eyes as her life, that which made her uniquely who she was, left her body. She understood and I had made a vow. No, no I don't want any cake today. Not today, not ever.
...in conclusion, I need to get back to studying for my macroeconomics final.

Embellish that a bit and say that it causes you to have "explosive diarrhea". For added effect, mutter something about already having had a bite, and then start pressing your knees together as if you're trying to hold it in. They won't want to talk to you after that.
