Well, here we are. First time I've every posted this sort of info to the world......intimidating yet somehow a relief. How strange...
Summary of the journey so far.
About 8 weeks ago someone at work mailed around a link to John's site with the title "There's hope for me yet". It was a mild mickey taking exercise, as the guy who sent it is quite thin and by no means has the inclination to either fitness or body building - at least as far as I can tell. Maybe he'll surprise me... Anyhow, I followed the link and had a look at the page. As I scrolled down I found John's before and after shots and was gobsmacked. John's before shot was neigh on identical to how I look - he just doesn't have my man boobs. :) I then studied John's after photo thinking someone must have done some sort of Photoshop action. I perused the site for another 10 minutes, blown away by what I saw and read. I mailed the link home and decided the site needed further attention.
About 2 weeks ago I went through my inbox and found the link again. I went back to Johns site and did a little more reading. That night I decided that Johns approach was for me and decided that it was time for immedate action. I already had a gym membership and decided that the following day I would replace my standard cardio "workout" (it was more of a doddle really) with John's early HIIT program. I continued with my weight routine (which exercised the same muscles multiple times a week). My other change was to replace my 3 meals a day with 6 smaller meals. This made the first day of my new lifestyle Sunday the 8th of February. I weighted 115kg's (253lbs).
Since then I have:
- learned about and implemented a 40/40/20 carb, protein, fat diet
- calculated my calorie intake at 10 x body weight and adjusted it per week to match my new weight
- changed from a weights routine which works muscles multiple times a week to one which works them only once
- learned new exercises
Goals:
Gotta have them.
- Target weight of 85 kg's (187 lbs)
- Body fat of around 12%
- Build chest
- Build arms
Some general, some specific.
24 February 2004:
Today, for the purpose of this first journal entry I re-weighed myself. I have lost 2.5 kg's (5.5 lbs) and weigh in at 112.5 kg's (248 lbs) - not to mention dropping a notch in my belt.
Today's gym session was.....non-existant. Slept through the alarm. This won't happen again, I'm cranking the volume on the alarm. However I'll compensate to a small degree by going for a walk when I'm done with this entry.
Calories consumed today: 2200
Split: 50% carbs, 19% fat, 31% Protein.
Now for that walk.......
