Walmart is selling a Weider power/squat rack for $138.68. The Weider Pro 400. Sound too good to be true. Does anyone have any info or advice on this rack? I would presume Weider would have decent stuff. I don't need anything top of the line just a basic set up for squats, bench, pull ups etc.

It looks to be a decent rack. Although Ive only seen it on Wal-Mart's web site. I would definately compare it to some higher quality racks and see what the major differences are. Check the welds. Is it just a crappy spot weld job? Shop around a little. You get what you pay for.

I don't know anything about this particular rack, but I would advise against assuming its good just because of the brand name. I personally know someone who was very dissatisfied with one of Weider's low end weight benches. I'm not saying they (Weider's stuff) are all bad, but having that name on it doesn't make it automatically good.

Don't forget shipping brings the Walmart rack to about $210. It's still the cheapest one I could find. However, I can't seem to find a good utility bench w/ leg developer for under $100.

I can't stress it enough, but you would be amazed at what you can find on eBay.

Oh man, nevermind the Wal-Mart one. I found the manual for it at http://www.iconservice.com/pdf/WEBE14100.pdf and it says on the third page under "WARNING" : "Do not place more than 210 pounds, including the barbell, on the weight rests".

Thanks guys I appreciate the help. This was one that was also an online buy only so I couldn't actually take a look at it. After doing some measuring it doesn't look like it will fit anyway. I'm starting to look at some bench set ups and see what I can find. I didn't realize it was going to be this hard to find what I'm looking for. I think my price point may have to go up in order to find anything of decent quality. You always get what you pay for.

You'ld be surprised at what you can find by shopping around. I was looking at buying a power rack of somesort last year...happened to be in sears and they had a real nice weider going for like $450...it is a power cage with cable attachment - only problem was sears had only the floor model left and that was it. So I bargained with them and walked out of the store later that week when I had my friends truck with the rack and a 300lb olympic rubber coated weight set for $250. The thing is great, I will take picutres of it in a few days when I am done rearanging my attic...er gym. The only downfall - the holding pegs for the bar are on the front, so when you go to lift you need to lift up and back...its fine with someone to lift off for you, but is tough alone...but it works and you can do a lot of great exerscises on it!
