is taking a nap okay still for the metabolism? i mean i know its not a positive... but is it a negative? im just curious because sometimes i feel i need a 2 hour nap depending on if i got enough sleep or not the night before. i was woderinf if it is detremental to fat loss... slower metabolism.

I also feel the need to take a nap after an afternoon workout. Usually 2 hours long.

Two hours is not a nap, that's sleep. If you want real benefits of a nap, keep it to 20-45 minutes. Longer than that and you're shutting down in the middle of the day.

I have read, and it was discussed in a HR course I took, that "power naps" of about 30-45 minutes are extremely effective in renewing your energy. Some companies, especially in countries abroad, have implemented a time for employees to take short naps. It's supposed to be great for productivity.
As for metabolism, I doubt it would do anything to hurt.

Under 30 minutes or over 2 hours are both okay for energy from what I've heard, but nothing in between. Something to do timing of sleep states and being left feeling dopey. I know I've experienced it myself. I'd go to sleep for an hour and then I'd be barely functional after that.

I love naps. Getting enough sleep is important so if an nap gets me where I need 2 be then I'll deal with the reduced matabolism if in fact it slows it. Sleep works in 1.5 hour cycles. so if you wake up after an hour and a half you will feel better than if you sleep 2
