View Full Version : Ongoing Progress
jsbrook April 9th, 2005, 07:26 PM Here's my bulk starting point. I didn't get quite as lean as I had wanted to, but most of the beer and kebab weight from going crazy in australia for 6 months came off. I was happy enough to start a bulk. The first 3 pics are in the morning without eating and drinking. The last one is after a shower, which I took right after eating a good breakfast and drinking two glasses of water. I hadn't planned on taking anymore, but I decided to. I included it cause I probably looked somewhere in between at most times of the day. I was somewhat bloated in the 4th pic but am not usually as 'dry' as in the first 3. All the pics are lightly flexed although I was a little too full and bloated for the last one to really do any flexing whatsoever
vatechguy April 9th, 2005, 08:25 PM Good luck on the bulk man. You are where I want to be by end of this year right now.

thanks! you'll get there-from the posts I've seen of yours, it looks like you're doing everything right.
jsbrook April 10th, 2005, 05:21 PM any suggestions for length of bulk based on the 4 pics? I was thinking 6 weeks and reevaluate. If I'm fairly happy with the bodyfat then perhaps extend the bulk. What do you think?
Caruthias April 10th, 2005, 06:17 PM I'd say stop when you think to yourself, "wow I'm huge" or if you think you've added a little too much fat with your muscle.
JabbaTheGutt April 10th, 2005, 06:57 PM You seem to be in pretty good shape - I hope you can do it while maintaining some of that good cut you already have achieved... :tu:
Good luck,
G
jsbrook April 10th, 2005, 11:35 PM Thanks guys. I agree-I'll keep bulking for awhile so long as everything's ok bodyfat-wise. Jabba, I hope so too! I'll keep the bodyfat as low as I can, but putting on muscle will be the main priority.

Keep a close measure on your waist, 1" above, at, and 1" below navel. Check each week, back off calories if you gain more than 1.5" on average.

Good suggestion-will do. Thanks RTE.
jsbrook May 18th, 2005, 05:02 PM Update on my progress. I have made some good gains in the first 6 weeks of my first bulk. I've definitely gained fat as in evidenced in the pics. The pics themselves are pretty bad, and I don't think I look too good in them. But with my lean gains and considering that I ate 4000 clean calories a day plus some less clean extras sometimes and a little drinking, I'm not too upset. I added 3/4 inch to my arms. 1 1/4 inch to my chest. 1 1/2 inch to my thighs, and 1/4 inch to my calves. I couldn't measure my shoulders because they could only find the 40 inch tape measure at the gym (yes-my chest is only 39 1/4 inch right now) I plan to bulk until I gain another inch on my arms and then cut. Unless I get too disgusted with the bodyfat. Or I might bulk until August and lean out for a wedding at the end of september. Probably, I will end up cutting starting the beginning of August. Until then, I will dial in my nutrition and cut the calories some, though still bulking. I think I'll still have good gains. anyhow, here's some updated pics. The back pics are a little older-after about 4 1/2 weeks of bulking. the other pics are after 6 weeks of bulking

jsbrook May 18th, 2005, 06:38 PM I have a ways to go until I reach my goal. But I'm on the road.

Haha. You're right on that front. I'll try to get a better set of pictures taken for my next round of progress pics in a few weeks.

Thanks. A few more months of bulking and then a cut.
jsbrook August 23rd, 2005, 04:21 PM bump for krosspyder. sorry for the lack of recent pics. I'll get some newer ones up eventually. I'm proud of my progress. Overall a lot more development and leaness. A lot in the arms. Biggest changes in the chest. Overall growth. But especially upper chest. Incline work has made a big difference there. Abs are a lot better currently than pre-bulk. Much more development and about the same leaness.
krosspyder August 23rd, 2005, 04:28 PM good work dude! i had never seen your pics.
looks like you know what you are doing.
thnx man.

Thanks. Sure. Yeah-I'm not one for taking regular progress pics. To me, it's a just a hassle without real reason. But every couple months when there's been some really significant physique changes, I think it's good. I've made some, so I'll try to get some newer pics up relatively soon.
