I had started at 420 something pounds last year after returning on a painful plane ride from a technical conference. April 1 was my first weigh day. Since that time, I am down to 241 pounds (180 pounds down). I was in pretty sorry shape by that time after a year of trying to shake the weight doing low cal and exercise. I finally decided to take my brother's lead and try Atkins.
Here are my current photos:

I can assure you those 180 pounds are not a scam or trick photography.

I will still probably stick on Atkins, although with Pre-Maintenance looming I am adding back some formerly forbidden foods, like Strawberries or additional veggies. Once I get down to my goal weight (225), I will be focussing on continuing my BF% loss. I am reenlisting in the Guard soon, so I need further work in passing the two mile run. (My two mile jog just won't cut it yet.) The difference between the nonimpact of miles on elliptical trainers and stair climbers and actually running is more dramatic than I would have first guessed. The body's reaction to the shock and impact of running has set my cardio performance back.
If I still need a goal after that, I will be focussing on increasing my squat and bench total.
