akm3 Mon, February 23rd, 2004, 09:33 PM Hey John, in your current cut abs avatar pic, how long was that from your 'before' pic? Is that a current pic; three months pic; six months pic; etc?
Thanks!
P.S. I covet your physique. Not to insult Lisa but as a single guy it seems wasted on a married guy :P

John Stone Mon, February 23rd, 2004, 09:42 PM Heh, I took that picture like 4 or 5 days ago...
I suspect that Lisa would venomously disagree with you about them being wasted. ;)
unlevel Mon, February 23rd, 2004, 10:00 PM pssst... John, I think akm3 meant what is the time difference b/t the before picture and the after picture, meaning how long it took you to get where you are now... :D

I figured everyone here knew that 1st picture well enough to deduce that for themselves. :D Just in case I'm wrong, the first pictures was... well, my first picture: January 6, 2003. The other one was taken on February 19, 2004.
taffer Mon, February 23rd, 2004, 10:20 PM just looking at your monthly pics john, it took you about 3 months to get rid of your fat, but then about 2 months to get your abs showing, was it harder to lose the fat first, or get your abs showing?
just wondering this because i still have about 40lbs to lose, (which will bring me to ~190lbs and 6'4 not sure how much bf% that is) i plan to get to that goal by around june/july, and was hoping to have my abs showing by dec/jan (which is summer here)
not exactly on topic but this thread put this question in my mind!

Well, all those 5 months were spent losing fat - reduced body fat is how one gets his or her abs to show. It may have looked more dramatic the first few months because the weight came off my belly relatively quickly, but then it took another 6 weeks or so to get to get my body fat to around 11%, which is when my abs first started to show. I further reduced to 8% and then they were nice and cut.
90% of getting a six-pack is lowering your body fat levels. Of course working your abs in the gym will make them look even better, but none of that ab work will show until you have lowered your body fat to sufficient levels - below 10% for most men. Abs really are made in the kitchen, not the gym.
