What a great idea for a site John! I read through your story and that's pretty much me in a nutshell right now. Here's my situation...

I am 32 years old, 5'11" and weighed in last Sunday at 235 lbs. This is the most I've weighed in my entire life! I remember going for years at 150 lbs. I was a twig though. I always remember hating going swimming because I didn't want to take my shirt off; still don't. I am divorced for 5 years now and yes, still single today. Depression has been a problem but I have hit on one part of it as due to my physical attributes which make me feel unattractive. It's not only that. I feel unhealthy too.

I recently started "the plan" to lose this weight and tone up significantly and be what I always wanted to be. I have the shape and build for it. I'll get a picture up soon here but if you see John's first picture, that's exactly me. Shape and all. SO when I see how he is today, I know I can get there.

Again John, great site from a fellow computer techno geek! We may be geeks, but we're well paid and hopefully in time, well cut geeks!

Welcome to the site. If you're open to suggestions from people that have been there, you are going to learn a LOT from these forums!

Like you, I started at about the same stats as John. I am 5'10", and started at 235, on Jan. 3 or this year. It can be done, as long as you're willing to do it! Good luck, and enjoy your stay.

Thanks! I think one of the things that kept me from doing anything about myself was, I didn't know where to start or what to eat or what to workout on. Was very intimidating to think about and frustrating that I didn't know how to take care of myself in that regard. But, it's normal. Ya gotta learn how to crawl before you can walk before you can RUN! I WANNA RUNNNNN!!!
