View Full Version : What's behind your avatar?
don_1987 April 7th, 2005, 05:15 AM What's the reasoning behind the picture you guys/gals post on your avatar. I know some of them are your personal photos, but other than personal picture, what's with the picture you post in your avatar?
For me, I post picture that kinda represent my current situation. But my current avatar... That's one japanese movie I like to watch when I was in high-school!
marcus April 7th, 2005, 06:03 AM In mine, the chimp play-biting my hand is named Sophie. As part of my duties for a Primate Welfare organisation, I was babysitting her and keeping her entertained. At the time (2002) she was 6 months old and almost ready to be reintegrated back into the forest with the other chimps. All of the chimps (cared for by the org) were taken out of the forest by hunters when they were infants (the parents were killed for meat), with the intention of selling them in the West. They were confiscated by the Govt and given to the organisation. I like to think about her occasionally, deep in the forest with other chimps, living a free, safe life, away from hunters and ingorant Westerners looking for a "cool" pet.
slowpoke April 7th, 2005, 08:56 AM Mine is Slowpoke Rodriguez who is the not so fast cousin of Speedy Gonzales. (Okay, for all the really young members, Speedy Gonzales is a cartoon mouse who appeared in several Warner Brothers cartoons in the 60s, 70s and early, early 80s. He, Speedy, sometimes appeared with Sylvester while Tweety was in rehab for a bad addiction to opiates. It was a tough time, but as a nation, we got through it.)
Anyway, my big thing is riding a bicycle and you can tell by my user name that I am usually near the back half of the pack (or peleton, if you will).
And so the story goes of my avatar...
Fly_Moe April 7th, 2005, 09:19 AM A buddy of mine uses this avatar on one of the message boards that both of us frequent. I thought it was a cool avatar so I stole it. When it comes to graphics or things like that I'm the most uncreative person in the world. I wouldn't even know where to begin to create an avatar like this one.
supaspic April 7th, 2005, 09:25 AM my avatar is from one of my favorite animes. Its the Guyver, the guyver was an alien bio-armor ("bio" meaning living) that came from some distant planet and landed on Earth. Long story short the Guyver fused with a kid, they became 1, and now THEY fight mutant montsers that are obsessed with getting the guyver for themselves and using it for evil.
In the picture though it is som fan-guy who is also a special effects graduate, who built a replica of the suit from fiber-glass, and clay. I thought it was the coolest suit and vowed one day to have my GF (she wants to be a movie costume-maker) to re-create a suit just like it for me.
Besides that you'll see me with the occasional Green Lantern avatar and well I think he's the best heroe and is my favorties so there.
Supa
Reno_1ted April 7th, 2005, 09:47 AM My avatar is me after cutting last summer. :D

slowpoke April 8th, 2005, 08:25 AM Sam the eagle... he was one serious muppet.
I used to stay up watching the Muppets, too. That was good television. That may explain why I'm in to puppets now. I started building and performing a couple of years ago. Yet another weird hobby...
Meh, it keeps me out of trouble.
