I am going back to work in a few weeks (I do concrete) and my lifestyle will change dramatically. I was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas for nutrition. I will be working from sun up to sun down Mon-Sat (excluding rain days). I will not leave the job site during the day to eat (will bring my own as to maximize work production) and wanted to eat as healthy as possible. Last year I brought salami sandwiches (I think they keep better on hot days than turkey) bag of cheez its and some fruit. Any suggestions on making better eating habits during the work season is greatly appreciated.

Try some cottage cheese for lunches, they pack that in Yogurt type cups. Also aim for whole wheat bread and lean meats such as turkey, id stay away from salami personally, if you can try turkey pepperoni. Fruits are also good, I pack a bag of carrots in a pocket so if I get hungry I can munch on one anywhere. For breakfast look for Oatmeal, maybe cereals, egg alternatives, eggs arent bad but I think egg beaters are great. Tuna is also a great meal but I dont think it would taste that great if its in a hot lunch box for hours. You can pack a salad with a tbsp of olive oil and some cheese. I'll give you a hint of what I get when at grocery store for meals.

items :
Oatmeal
Kashi GO LEAN (Cereal)
Vans Organic Waffles FLAX/SOY (has omega fatty acids)
Bocca Meatless Breakfast Patties
Bocca Burgers
Tuna fish
Whole Wheat Noodles
Canned Chicken
Whole Wheat Bread
Egg Beaters
Unsweetened Soymilk
Skim Milk
Vegetables
Chicken Breasts/Turkey (ground or breast)
Lean Beef
Brown Rice
Sweet Potatoes
Natural Peanut Butter
Cottage Cheese
Strawberries (make my own waffle topping blended with a dash of skim milk)
Olive Oil
Balsimic Vinegar (Newmans Own - for salad dressings )

That's just some of what I get throughout the week, all are healthy and easy to work with, hopefully this helped you out somewhat in your decisions.

Good info. I will try the salad (I like basalmic vinegar myself) and I always take fruit. I am thinking of cooking like 12 chicken breasts on sunday and eating two a day. Sliced turkey doesnt seem to keep well if i dont eat it by 2 or 3 p.m. So I am looking for other alternative. (and I tried the tuna ONE time, not a good thing to do)

Thanks :tu:
